It will take tens of thousands of miles, or more, to offset the cost for just a mpg gain even if you do the work yourself. If you were to go from 14 to 16 mpg the CPM would be reduced by less the 0.03

I’m throwing around the idea of swapping 4:10s for 3:73s to grab lower rpms and higher mpgs. Anyone here ever done it? Is it something that could be done myself or need to be taken to a shop? At that ratio difference is a new carrier necessary? Easiest way seems to swap entire front and rear end but it’s hard to find someone near me with what I want lol.
