Recently moved up to to whidbey island, Washington and I'm looking for a few things to make life easier around the house and shop.

Could anyone point me in the direction of good equipment, farm, or even estate sale auctions so I could possibly get some stuff?

Im not finding to much by google or from people I work with because the general sense is "just buy new"

I used to buy some stuff from government liquidation but that was years ago and already had competition, not sure how it is now. But once in a while you can score, and that goes for any place just nee

  • Yup they have a PBY on display at the museum. Would’ve been fun to see that. I imagine the commissary is probably in about the same location as it was back then too! Haha

I've picked up duce and half for 1200 with fees and taxes and someone I know got one for 100, he was the only one bidding lol, drove it home.

It's definitely nice up here, still getting used to where stuff is and where places are

I lived in Oak Harbor there in the early 60's for a couple years. Used to watch the Sea Planes running while my folks shopped at the naval commissary. It was cool watching those run up the launch ramp after landing and then go back out to take off again. Think they were called PBYs.

There gonna stack me and @JAG1 on either side of that PBY one  day.  Though it has a pretty good head start, they were flying those in the 30's.

Probably so. Whats amazing is those old buildings were so simple. Even the Hospital was plain inside all wood framing and siding. If anything needed maintanence chances are it was just a coat of all white paint or a new roof.

I was in a hospital the other day (nothing serious) and would have to say the entry way was not simple and thought....... just the entry must be a million bucks. The inside was no different, was high detail and expensive.

Towrigdually, I think you could try calling some local excavators or used car dealers. Those guys usually know about auctions. I wonder if the small town auctions might be better for a real 'score'?

If they persnickers about that at least you'll know who not to deal with in future. lol

@Towrigdually I know Colorado is a little out of the way, but I transport a lot of the state of Colorado equipment to and from their sale yard in Denver. Everything from 1 ton dump trucks to D-7 dozers and everything in between. A lot of junk and some good deals to be had if you know what your looking for.
