Took a little jaunt today. Just over an hour each way... should have been at least. Traffic was pretty heavy BOTH toward the beaches & surprizingly away too. All lanes had vehicles... almost going the speed limit... but all lanes were backed up too. And at the front of each backed up lane... some *** **** who is afraid to freakin drive. It's amazing how a couple of slow pokes can back up the interstate. I know, I should be more patient. It's bad for my blood pressure, I'm sure. The IDIOTS are oblivious to all the other drivers on the road. If it was just one, you could maneuver around them... the roads are full of them... AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Much of it is about gas/fuel tax dollars rolling in. If they get "too" many high mileage vehicles that can haul stuff, revenue goes down. And we all know politicians can't do without other folks money!!!! It's also because of EPA regs. In Europe, they have clean air standards for vehicles like here, but they check it in a different way, or look for different stuff. Our Cummins in the 4th gen would be phenominal if they'd go to the urea system like they did in the C&C models!!!! Must make just "TOO MUCH SENSE" to do that though!!!!

Damn rednecks at it again... Well I'm lucky to live in area where traffic is really low and people don't mind driving -10 MPH under the speed limit. Also state of Idaho doesn't have a minimum speed limit. So you can legally drive as slow as you wish but must yield to traffic if your holding more than 3 vehicles behind you. But most people don't mind -10 off of the speed limits. Typically set the cruise at 55 MPH. Like most of the canyon road is twisty tight corners so if you attempt to drive speed limit I will most likely respond from the fire dept to come clean you up off the highway. Oh yeah I'm back to the Salmon River Rural Fire Dept again.

Oh yeah I'm back to the Salmon River Rural Fire Dept again.

Even if I did'nt just say it anyways; I inspired you, did'nt I?

Not to hijack you thread... But since its fire related...What happen was I had a lightning strike fire right across from my house and so I got smart grabbed the scanner and proceeded to listen. There is a fire station less than 1 mile from me. Guess what? There is no one there to man it any longer! The responding people came from Slate Creek, ID nearly 40 miles away! Plus USFS from McCall, ID 35 Miles away. I'm like OMG! This is a complete mess! I call the guy I've been working with try to help him out he didn't even know there was a fire in progress (no radios or pagers)! 2 Days later USFS and 1 man from Station 5 (Slate Creek) put out the fire.So never the less I made a few more phone calls and talked to the Chairman of the board and the acting fire chief (temporary). I was correct there is no one to respond from Station 1 which is 3/4 of mile from my house. I told them if they reinstate me back to my old rank (Station Captain) and allow a second man to join under me we'll man that station. Which getting reinstated is becoming a slightly administrative problem.So never the less I've been work with Station 2 and Station 1 for the last few weeks now repairing equipment, training people how to use the trucks, (Military 2 1/2 ton) in the mean time fixing station 1 and repairing my trucks and on top of it trying to get my equipment picked out again (radio, turn outs, etc.)
