I have 3/8" fuel line everywhere on my truck and was looking at getting Beans sump kit for next month's project, which comes with a 1/2" fitting. Can I run 1/2" from the tank to the fuel filter or should I run 3/8"?

I agree I would rather run full 1/2". Both 3/8 and 1/2 will work but the pressure is more stable on 1/2 lines that 3/8" so there is less pressure fall from idle WOT on 1/2" lines typically.

Eric from where? Not trying to hijack this thread, but do you guys think I could have such big pressure drops because I have the stock line and banjos running from the stock filter housing to the VP?

Insider tip... Vulcan Performance provides plumbing pieces for AirDog (I'm pretty sure also FASS too!) So for all your fuel plumbing needs he is the place to go to.

So, to do it right, I should get all new 1/2" fittings for my fuel boss and run 1/2" everywhere?

YEP. Simple as that.

I talked with Richard at Glacier Diesel, he said running 1/2" would be a pain and it would choke down at the pump (fuel boss) anyways. I guess 3/8" for me...

I have 3/8 fuel line for my system as well and with my Fuel Boss I don't see any pressure fluctuation. It stays rock solid at 17psipsi. For me, I don't see the benifits outweighing the cost and time.

You can easily get a fitting for the 3/8's line. That's what I did because I had already run the 3/8's line in my truck. I really just didn't see the benefit to running the bigger lines. Just about all of my pressure drop problems were related to running through the stock basket. Since the Beans sump install, even with the 3/8s line I only see about a 4 psi drop from idle to WOT when doing a WOT pull from stop to freeway speeds. Much better than the 12 psi drop before!!!

The difference between Likeoldford and myself is 3/8" gives a 4 PSI drop from idle WOT where 1/2" is more like 1-2 PSI. I've got 17 at idle and 15 at WOT. That what that little bit more diameter does for you.
