  1. Don't give away my secrets! Lmao If I had money like that I still wouldn't have one. I would however have one hell of a second gen dodge cummins!
  2. So we made it to key west on Monday. It was a long ride, took a while from Fort lauderdale. About a 4.5 hour trip if tou run straight down. Me and the wife at the southern most marker. Also had to visit Hogs Breath Saloon for a drink or two. And did a little shopping while down there too. And of course we had to shop at the southern most Harley Davidson dealer while in town. It was a long day. We left Fort Lauderdale about 8:30am. We finally got back at 1:30am. My butt was sore, arms hurt and sunburnt. Got caught in a few good florida downpours on the way back too. Tuesday we spent the entire day at the house to recoup. The wife and I both were whooped. Today we all kind of went and did our own thing. The wife and I visited Alligator Alley Harley Davidson in Fort Lauderdale. Nice big dealership. Bought a couple more shirts and a handful of the poker chips. Then we went on a boat tour through the million dollar home on the canal. Huge superyachts everywhere. And million dollar homes. The tour guide said the cheapest homes here sell for a bit over 5 mil. The more expensive ones are hitting 45 mil or more.
  3. I do. Most corporations now are more worried about the bottom line than integrity. It seems so bad they'll sell their own children to keep things in the red. I remember when I was little that Snap On was the tool of "professional" mechanics. Now I hear nothing but horror stories about junk ratchets and their power tools. This, to me, is indicative of the idea that numbers mean more than reputation, and no matter what, you have to make a certain profit, even if it damages your brand in the future. So what you're saying is I probably blew $115 on something I didn't need. Figures. Oh well, I'll change it anyway and keep the other one as a spare just in case.
  4. This may be the reason the economy is experiencing a pull back as so many factors are creating uneasy feelings about the future. When Cummins goes to average manufacturers placing their name on the box I see as indicative of our world today. This of course is only one company but, integrity and confidence seems to be diminishing in many sectors across the globe. Add society as a whole with the lack of real education , lack of teaching and setting examples of good work ethic. I say many avenues of previous strength are showing more and more potholes in the pavement. Anyone agree?
  5. Loves me some Key West.... Been way too long. Looks like you're definitely having a good time.
  6. It's very cool that you share this with others here because like myself I doubt that I would ever be able to go see Florida. Thank you much @Doubletrouble Also I like how you pretend not one of those Mega Yachts could ever be yours. Yeah right! I blew up the pic and saw the name of the boat 'Tripletrouble'
  7. been busy, again looking at your logs the hottest temp I see is 1150*f, which is not hot. stock trucks run above 1300 all the time. your cruise egt's at 65 in the log are sitting at 650-700, which again is not that hot for cruise with the turbo you have. I see you come out of cruise, egt's come up to 900* 1000* and taper off. That is normal. I don't think anything is wrong. I think the turbo is just not the right turbo for what you want, but nothing is actually wrong.
  8. I'm not a Cummins parts fan being most parts are NOT produced by Cummins and not worth the money. I've seen failed head gaskets (Cummins HG made by BLK) in under 1k miles, Cummins thermostats (made by Mr. Gasket). They are not that sensitive being Timbos APPS is not even a Cummins product or designed for our engine but it works for over 250k miles till mine finally wore out. Just consider the high idle switch again not designed by Cummins but it works no issue by hundreds for people. Again not that sensitive.

For 50 HP injectors stock turbo should be fine. I'm running 150 HP injectors on my stock HX35W (54/60/12). Climbing 7,500 into Bridgeport, CA. No EGT issues at all. My biggest problem was transmission temp that was running high from head winds. Total weight was 17,500 pounds. Boost limited to 35 PSI. Again my final ratio is 3.69 running on 245/75 R16 tires. This is the huge part having proper final ratio. Might be pizza cutter but no EGT issues.

Hoping to get to work on my trucks after tomorrow. Have 5 days I gave myself between jobs.. Want to finish the install of injectors, pushrods, and valve springs and have enough time to tune before the first sled pull. On the list is also ohming out the MAP harness and planning up a fix for a fuel leak from the hoses breaking down going into my lift pump.. Thinking of hardline along the frame to braided line for the motor/lift pump to account for movement.. Mother Nature isn't looking cooperative the whole holiday weekend though, chances of rain Sat-Mon.. hope not.. If I finish with my Cummins, I might start on the front end and finish rebuilding the exhaust of my little green truck.. Weather permitting..
  11. The fish are biting and work is busy so the truck is on the back burner again and fuel costs so much. In extreme cold you only have 2 maybe three tries to start. once the battery voltage falls off the VP simply won't inject. I should have done this 20 years ago. Could have made some money. But I could have never afforded a new truck to hack up and lose the warranty. This diagram shows how the crankshaft and camshaft sensors on the early engines are decoded to provide a signal whose falling edge is at 20 degrees after top dead center. The pump uses this reference signal to determine the relationship of its internal sensor, which is attached to the cam ring to the engine position. That's how it calculates timing this value is compared to CAN command timing and the amount of error feeds a servo control loop which changes the duty cycle of the timing control valve which either fills or vents the the timing piston causing it to move against a return spring. If the error is to great for over a certain amount of time P0216 gets thrown. I have a new Tiny Tach with a piezo line clamp on the injection line. I only bought it for the piezo clamp so I can connect it to my oscilloscope and see when the injector starts spraying. That should be interesting. I think the ECU has a line delay stored inside to really get things dead on. This all seems like overkill considering the P7100 does none of this.
