  1. I was watching some videos last night and had a thought. For the cost of the cam and leaks getting fixed, I could just get the leaks fixed and get a compound setup. The price difference is negligible. Would I be better served going that route? It looks like most of the kits would put an S475 over my S300.

Hi all. New to the forum and new to cummins diesels. Decided to join after stumbling on the site looking for solutions to the TC lockup cycling issue and was impressed with the quality of content and respect everyone seems to have for each other here. I picked up a 1999 4x4, auto trans, 138k miles to pull our RV (10k lbs). I work remote and will travel full time starting in the next couple of months. Primary interests are reliability, moderate power and decent towing. Looking for info on the WT mod atm and would appreciate any other recommendations! The truck currently has turbo back exhaust and replaced APPS sensor - otherwise stock. I have an airDog to install, plan to address trans cooling and reading up on tuners to decide what to use. Will eventually figure out how to get the motorcycle in the back of the truck since our RV isn't itself able to tow. I have a lot of appreciation for communities like this. I'm fairly handy but not a mechanic. I have some experience with motorcycles and gas vehicles but no diesel. Excited to get to work!
  3. Right you are. My pic is to illustrate what 245/75 R16 tires look like on a stock suspension 2WD truck. @Mopar1973Man picture shows what 245/75R 16 tires look like on a stock suspension 4WD truck.
  4. Finally I got you all looking past the Cool Factor into the design factor and getting your truck set up for proper gearing ratio then you notice power gain and efficiency improvements. On other member @Sycostang67 took my advise and now also change because cool factor was the source of EGT problem changed tires down and gain back the performance.
  5. I am glad I drove to Scottsdale Arizona to see my Mother right before the increase in fuel. It was nice going all back roads spending 8 days on the road there and back. It was cool going in February. We are supposed to have a bad recession so say the experts. I am ready for it because I would rather go camping than work anyhow at my age but, people keep offering more money so I will work on their place. I'm a good contractor they all say. I have accomplished a lot in 43 years of it. Worse mistake I ever made was I got one little tiny speck of a piece of gravel underneath @IBMobile's new RV roof when I glued it down. By the end of the day it became a huge boulder under there, he was so crabby. No he wasn't crabby at all
