  1. Could be like Homer Simpson and put a bucket under the low spot and never have to get up to go to the bathroom. Lol.
  2. Wasn't there a cross over year where they had 3rd gen body and still 24 valve engine? Like 2002 or 3? Critical to know common rail or not. If it's a VP 44, 20 psi at idle. One good pump should be enough. I'm going to go with a Bean Diesel sump and ditch the in tank suction draw all together. Sounds like someone added a new pump without removing the tank pump. Seems like 2 pumps is too complicated.
  3. I had a dually. Biggest issue I had was that you wear out 6 tires in the time you would wear out 4. That's another $500 or so every time you get new skins. I got into a rotation where I'd wear out the fronts and just buy 2. But when I needed rears, thousand dollar bill. Plus the added width of the vehicle on skinny roads with oncoming traffic. These are the two negative to me. Plus added body damage with those fiberglass fenders sticking proud of the rest of the truck. You weigh the benefits, but these are the negatives as I see them.
  4. Mulcher812 helped me do the swap to HX with RV275 sticks. Good combo on my truck. Turbo whistle is louder. Tows better than with the HY.
  5. Look at the spot locator on the internet. You push the help button and they get your position and send help.
  6. If you get a Spot sattelite locator you can get helicopter extraction insurance for like $20 a year. Might be good for you.
  7. I too am lookig into bees. Not for commercial use tho. I saw a video on YouTube that claims that 1/100 people in the population are allergic to bee stings. And 1/10 family members of bee keepers are allergic to bee stings. Has something to do with exposure to the bees, but never being stung. From his perspective it's best for everyone in the family to be stung under controlled conditions to build up immunity. Look at Wyatt A Mangum phD book on top bar hive beekeeping. Awesome book even if you are not using top bar hives. Make sure you have a swarm trap located near your hives to capture a swarm should they leave the hive. Could save you a hundred dollar bill. If you're using regular bee hives, make one out of a nuc box. Look on the internet if you need instructions. Back in the day of DMSO my ex wife was stung. She used some of her dad's magic DMSO on the sting. Ooooops. That stuff works by carrying things into your blood stream. She went into shock almost immediately. Almost kilt her.
  8. My brother in law had a chair covered with elk hide. It's awesome! Might be an option for me next year when I kill one. Lol.
  9. I tow in OD all the time until hills. 95% of my miles are towing. Then I drop down out of OD when I hit a hill. I've got 50k since I bought this truck. Original transmission and 183,000 miles. Stock transmission with a billet double disc TC. I don't think the transmission cares what gear it's in. But lockup is important. The engines power curve is better at 2,000 rpm or above. I believe the whole power train operates cooler and more efficiently when under a load at higher RPM's. But when dropped ok of OD 55 mph seems like a good speed. I think the shop is trying to weasel out of warrenty work. If that OD issue was not in the warrenty info, I'd call bull and get serious about having them live up to their promises.
  10. Time to look at the clutch and rear main seal too.
  11. Not used to the concept of constant contact. Ok. I got 300,000 miles out of my F350 on the original clutch and bearing. My initial comment was to say put the truck in neutral at stop lights and foot off the clutch pedal. May still be a viable habit. But my suggestion now is to buy an American made, best quality bearing you can get. Too hard to get to it for replacement with a cheap bearing.
  12. Nope. I get at least 40k out of mine. Rebuild calipers.
  13. My big *** has my drivers seat beat down too. I could live with a different color even. Just need to find a good sweat shop. Are there more durable cusions out there? Then again, 12 years is a pretty good run.
  14. What needs to be done to a truck with automatic transmission to take advantage of an exhaust brake? Not looking for a high dollar solution. But rather minimum suggested mods.
  15. I am wondering also about the air intake sensor, if that goes bad will the timing be more advanced all the time question. And cause excessive engine ticking?
  16. Ok, more fluid. These trucks should have a hazmat sign on them. So friggin many fluids in large quantities. Every time I turn around it's another couple gallons of fluid.
  17. I don't know if this is normal, but at idle my power steering doesn't work well. Like that when I bought the truck and has not gotten any worse. Not low or loosing fluid.
  18. I thought that may be mine too. But listening to other 24 valve trucks and recent change of injectors has made no difference. Are you running 2 cycle oil? That helps. That high idle mod would also help in economy setting. Retards the timing. But this all assumes there is nothing wrong. Listen to other trucks. I think the VP makes noise too.
  19. I don't need one now, but I can see the day I do.
  20. Mike even met me today for some warrenty work on his free help. Had an injector leaking fuel at the tube and running down the engine. Thanks man! The smart flash seemed to have updated how the transmission shifts. Downshifts now on downhill runs from OD to lockup. My 3rd gen Hemi does that too. Figure it's an updated Trans programming.
  21. Do not see any seat belts @ rockauto.
  22. Yes it is! He also hit me with 5 with his smarty just to help me understand what it would do. We drove a bit and then set back to normal. Then drove his truck with stacked 5x5 and 100 hp injectors. Yeah, that makes a difference! But again, my long term goals are for economy. So it was fun, but I don't see stacked tuners in my future. The smarty is something I'd be interested in though. It appears that the new sticks and turbo will provide me with better towing performance. Quite a difference in dimensions between the HX and HY turbos. He did a small waste gate mod on it too. Is a 4" exhaust going to make any difference for me? Running stock 3" now. My wife continues to be amazed at the friends I meet on the internet. I've met a lot of hunting guys too. She gets worried about me meeting guys with guns. Lol. So far so good.
  23. Mike came over to my place and helped me do a couple projects. We upgraded my turbo from HY to HX. We also installed 275 injectors and did a valve adjustment. Did this in about 3 hours. Tomorrow I'll hook up my trailer and see what difference it makes. He also flashed me with his smarty. Now I'm ready for the high idle kit.
  24. Zebra supposed to be best eating animal of the plains. Tenderloin dinner will be served. Tracker/skinner works for meat. Can't bring any back to USA. He had giraff and crock a couple days ago (that he didn't shoot). Skin will be fleshed and tanned. All he's bringing back of the zebra. Nothing goes to waste.
