best all-around diesel truck?
Also calculate in the added maintenance of a diesel rig. We have a 2006 Hemi mega cab. Been very dependable and care free. Anyone want to buy it. Lol. They do seem harder to sell than diesel.

Addiing 12 volt to frige operation
Okay, does not sound like a worthy project. Yeah I was kind of worried about the battery deficit trying to run the refrigerator.

Addiing 12 volt to frige operation
My Dometic refrigerator runs on either 120V or propane. What would be the procedure to add 12 volt? I assume it would be easiest to use a converter to run off batteries. How would I switch over to 120v if I plug it into a converter? Or would I simply run off batteries through the inverter when hooked up to shore power? How big of a converter should I consider? Seems like a good feature to have 12 volt operation while driving.

Wow, that's great! Should be a sticky.

Power steering flush
Did a search, found no info on this. Can someone inform me as to how we do this? As I understand you remove an outlet hose and pump out old and pump in new. Any cleansers necessary? Where do indisconnect the outlet line and how to tell which is outlet?

VW B4
Anyone familiar with the B4 Volkswagen? Made at the Audi plant and like a Passat on steroids and gets 50 mpg. There is a guy in Bellingham Washington who is restoring to your pleasure. New paint, interior, motor, drive axle, suspension and brakes all new. You can get one for around $12k. Biggest VW ever made and will go 100 mph @ 3,500 RPM's. I think they are all stick shift too. Range 1,000 to 1,200 miles on 25 gallon tank. Supposed to run on bio diesel too. We are thinking of driving up and discussing a build. Only 650 imported to USA in 96,97.

power steering help
I've been told to do a system flush and see where that gets me. Might be worthy for you too.

Hard Starting after Fuel pump Replacement
Should be more donar trucks out there for my stick shift swap then. But I don't see any cheapo's out there. These trucks keep going up in value. Seeing 2nd gen trucks selling for $20k+.

New CO emission reduction plans
I was at a yard sale. Girl asked the owner who was selling a woodstove...what will we do when all the trees are gone? I could see a statement coming from someone in Arizona, but in Oregon??? All we have is trees! Thinking like this is what drives the believability of the the global warming and carbon footprint grow government crowd.

Raptor 100 changed pressure again
You need a test gauge to definitively diagnose gauge or pump problem. As I stated before, I had the same issue. Kept turning up the pressure. Finally got a test gauge and after multiple turn ups at the pump, actually tested 35 psi. Kinda like adding a quart of oil each time the oil light comes on without checking the actual level with the dipstick. Exact same symptoms you're having. Mechanical Test Gauge from Vulcan Performance. Test gauge should be purchased before any other mods to your truck. You just gotta have one.

Tips for shift kit install!
Main reason I would want second block is while towing off Road on a steep grade to keep the torque converter lock to keep the transmission cool. I have an area I frequently which has a paved one lane 16% slope.

Tips for shift kit install!
So, what is the personality like with second gear lock up? Does it change the RPM range much compared to second gear which is unlocked?

98 12V
Not easy, that's why a donor truck is most desirable.
-
98 12V
V8 trucks have different bell housings, etc. Need a V10 or diesel donar.
-
98 12V
I keep thinking about it too. 5 speed for me through a V10 donor. Always looking for encouragement here. Why not just buy a 5 speed? Because of the point I'm at with upgrades and maintenance on my present vehicle. And they are going to command a premium price as well.

Raptor 100 changed pressure again
Have you checked pressure with a test gauge? Your situation is exactly like mine was. Put a test gauge on it and it was 35. Isolator was bad. Plumbed diesel to gauge and all is good!

Starter Issue
Starter rebuilt by a local automotive electrical shop. Do all their own rebuild work. Might order a kit from Geno's for the starter anyway.

Starter Issue
I replaced my starter a couple of years ago. I do a lot of service work and start and stop my truck 10 times a day. Should the contacts last longer than a couple years? I had an issue today where the starter engauged and then nothing. Multiple additional tires and no contact at all. I banged on the starter and also thought maybe my park switch may not be fully contacted by the shifter. So I pushed up on it before tryin to start. So I now don't know if it was the banging or shifter moving that solved the problem. Batteries good. Started as normal since.

New CO emission reduction plans
I believe that the world to a large degree is self regulating. Yes species come and go, but so what. There are pleanty of people in the world to make up for loss of animals, birds, fish. We will soon have the only utopian country in the world and be totally broke.

failing throw out bearing
So, does running idle at stop lights in neutral and foot off the clutch pedal reduce wear in this situation? Seems like without added pressure it should help some. Spinning with light pressure versus spinning at full pressure make any difference? My 1996 ford F350 went 300k on the original clutch and T/O bearing. Always put it in neutral at stop lights. It had hydraulic clutch.
-
failing throw out bearing
Any access to grease these suckers without dropping the transmission? Is it common these days to have constant contact with the pressure plate? Seems like a design flaw. I've always taken my stick shift into neutral and release the clutch pedal at lights.

failing throw out bearing
I'd guess that the Timken made in China has higher quality standards than a Napa one.
