  1. I think the standard accepted time limit is 30 minutes. But I have an alarm on my truck so that complicates things.
  2. I like it! Times I want lock up holding the button would be convenient! Thanks.
  3. Mine came from Napa a few years ago. Buy an extra and leave it in the spares box. Simple to change. At cummins price needs to last 3 times longer. Takes 10 minutes to change. No goop or gasket. Just a big a$$ O ring.
  4. I've already tested the A/C noise. Looks good. The ground wire from the battery is pretty much stuffed into the alternator. I might do that redirect mod that I posted a couple weeks ago. Pretty simple and it couldn't hurt. I put some grease on the battery terminals yesterday. Also topped off the battery juice. Was a little low. Next project is to change coolant.
  5. I've been dealing with ever increasing gear searching. Cleaned both ends of my main battery cables and shazam, all is good. They were not that dirty. Kinda think the connections at the batteries were the problem. And they were not that bad. And so easy to access compared to the ones on the block. I'll probably start cleaning those more often and I'd done one at a time, no having to re-calibrate the TPS. If in doubt, clean your negative cables!
  6. I add a can of Wix coolant supplement when I change coolant. But I've been told I should monitor the coolant ph level with test strips. Is this something that you guys do? Thing that makes me concerned is the bottom disc in my high dollar cummins thermostat fell off and was just sitting in the hole below the thermostat. Corrosion cause this failure? Was only in for a year or so.
  7. Some trucks came with HY and some HX. The HX is an upgrade. Look at the ID plate and see which one it is. You'll need to know anyway I'd you rebuild. Aside from no longer rotating I have a hard time seeing what would cause a turbo to quit working without catastrophic failure. Sure you don't have a breach in the intercool or a bad elbow? Pressure test might be in order. Take off the air inlet hose and see if the turbo is turning while running.
  8. I need to clean my connections in hopes of improved automatic transmission shifting. I am wondering about the use of dynalectric grease on connections followed by that red battery connection aerosol spray to keep connections sealed.
  9. Between 211 and 213 on macksburg rd.
  10. There is a hick shop on macksburg road that has treated me pretty good. Then americas tire for a corporate shop.
  11. Sounds like Les Schwab to me. I had $1,000 brake job done there. They put the right/left shoes on backwards and the shoes free wheeled inside the rear drum on a F350 dually. Oh, read the fine print...no warrenty on a commercial vehicle. Had a sign in my truck, so it was obvious. Took out the brand new drum. They won't see another dine of my money or referrals. Plus I'll use every opportunity to bash them I get.
  12. Yeah, propane becomes problematic when it gets really cold. Plus propane is a wet heat. They don't call it liquid propane for nothing. Wood dries the home out instead of adding moisture. But transporting is expensive. And having the wood burn ready (seasoned) takes time. Or just get customers thinking ahead and buy in summer to let it season. But it's also hard work! Might be work for an 18 wheeler instead of a pickup with trailer. Or railcar. That's the way the nursery industry has gone. Shrink wrapped on a 4x4 pallet would be 1/2 cord. Load with a fork lift.
  13. Too hot for me this weekend. Going to be 90*. Taking this weekend off. Honey do' sat home and functions at church.
  14. We augment with what I get at work. Apple, plum, lylac, rhododendron, maple. We can go 3 years before cleaning pipe. Fir (Pseudotsuga menzisii) also leaves very little ash. When dry is my favorite wood. Good dense rings and lights easily. We use cedar as kindling. We only use 3-4 cords a year. 3-6" limb wood is premium stuff. Almost hardwood.
  15. My next door neighbor bought a new Husky. Gave me his old MS440 with 32" bar. Thought it had a bad motor. Ended up being a bad clutch. So $100 later I have an $1,100 saw. He's got 3 extra chains too for me. This thing is a beast! Dropped a 135' Douglas Fir a few weeks ago. Awesome! The wife loves limb wood. Some of the branches were 5" diameter and 30 years old. Got out my chop saw for those. I hate cutting limbs to size with a chainsaw. Wish I could figure out a fast/safe way to do it besides the chop saw. Puts a lot of miles on it. This is our own property, so we gotta clean up and burn debris anyway. Might as well burn in the woodstove. Cuts down on fall slash burning duties. This tree was 55 years old. Had some pitch cracks in it, which are discounted or culled at the mill. So makes awesome firewood! Notice that we laid that sucker right down the gravel side road and didn't hurt a thing!
  16. Wait for a freeze and scrape it off. It gets brittle.
  17. It rained in the cascades yesterday. We got 1/2" total. Unusual to have a campfire in early bow elk camp. Drying out stuff. No shelter.
  18. An elk hide will cover the whole bed.
  19. Ok, just to satisfy the pic guys...
  20. Yeah then, no problem. I'll deliver it. Lol.
  21. Where are you located? I might take you up in that. I already have one tanned with hair on. Don't really need another. They're pretty big. My brother in law had one done hair off. Had an ottoman made out if it. Pretty nice!
  22. I'm leaving in the morning for the Oregon coast on an archery elk hunt. Weather is shaping up well. Temps dropped 20* and partly cloudy. They grow those elk big on the coast! Very rarely freezes and lots of feed.
  23. I need to remove the passenger door panel and adjust the key unlock. It's like it's not quite long enough throw. Just barely unlocks the door and takes a few tries sometimes. What mind of tool is needed to remove the window crank handle? All manual doors and windows.
  24. Has anyone that you know we made it to the million mile mark with their original injection pump?
