  1. Will I need some kind of plate on the back of the engine to mate the bell housing to? There seems to be a spacer available for mounting the starter to the bell housing.
  2. Compare $2,000 to have a new rubber roof installed. $400 is a good value. And you don't need any sealer around the vents, etcetera. One product does it all. I painted up over the vertical surfaces (vents) an inch or more for a good seal.
  3. There are videos on YouTube. I just cut all the outside edges, around stuff coming through the roof with a brush. Two coats there would be ideal. A roller on a pole should get you by for the open areas. Squeegee just helps push out product you pour out on the roof. I didn't use a roller pan like you would for paint. Pour it out and push/roll it out. Be ready for wrinkles in the old roof, as it penetrates the old roof for mechanical bond. Wrinkles will flatten as it dries over a couple weeks. It's pretty much waterproof within a day or so I think.
  4. EPDM coatings. Order off the internet. Not sure about tears. Never seen rubber roof material with tears. You could e mail them. They are pretty good with advice.
  5. I used EPDM liquid rubber product and was happy with it. It came in a 3 gallon kit and should be enough to do a 25er.
  6. As things come up, I will resurrect this thread to ask questions. Will I be able to have the clutch pedal safety switch to lock out starting unless clutch pedal is depressed? Do you see it as possible to do the swap on the shop floor without a lift? I'll get one of those harbor freight transmission jacks. I had a ride in a same year truck as mine with a nv4500. I like the personality of the manual transmission. I'm looking forward to swaping out mine!
  7. I watched with interest because I'll be removing an auto and installing manual. So I'll have nothing to go on as far as wear goes. But I don't have the equipment to measure with either.
  8. He admitted that there are many vehicles which it's not possible to do the tests. Bell housings not removable, front wheel drive etc. He later checks the flywheel surface for straightness. Lol.
  9. Do you guys worry about the stuff in this video? Measuring alignment issues. Or just cram the transmission in?
  10. While its fresh in your mind...could you give us a rundown on where potential oil leaks could come from? I'd like to kill all my oil leaks. But not sure where they all can exist.
  11. Can a smarty flash me from automatic to stick shift transmission? A stick shift ECM is $500-$800.
  12. Anyone have a free 47re to nv4500 swap kit?
  13. I used the steel wool followed up with expanded foam method on a rental house. Seems to have worked good. Shoved the steel wool into the hole and then foamed as normal to fill the rest of the void. Look for Snap-E mouse traps. Black plastic and easy to set. I hate those old Victor traps. Someone finally invented a better mouse trap. Have goats and we have rats cleaning up the residual grain the goats don't eat on the ground. Has a cup in the middle of the paddle that triggers the trap. You can get a lot of peanut butter in there. No reloading between snaps. Here is a link to a video on the snap-e trap.
  14. I don't understand what the purpose of the bracket is.
  15. Does he wear an aluminum foil hat too? Lol.
  16. You say this can be done with the head on truck? How do you know when you are tdc for each cylinder? Do you have vertical clearance for working on #6?
  17. Everyone needs a mechanical test gauge. I have a "T" schrader valve to test my fuel pressure with a test gauge.
  18. Until the mouse eats the pressure tubing.
  19. Seems that it's hit and miss as far as needing a stick shift ECM. Any comments?
  20. But was it a single, double or triple disc?
  21. So like a Volair single with the slightly larger diameter flywheel? I think about $700. What about throw out bearings? There seems to be an area for upgrade, since they are pretty cheap anyway.
  22. How important is it to spend $1,200 on a clutch? I am looking at a auto to nv4500 conversion and am wondering for a mainly stock rig how important it is to go with a big a$$ clutch. Can I just get one from napa? Every time I turn around you guys want me to spend a thousand dollars. Lol.
