Who's Burning?
We live in a log home too. Seems that we have a fair amount in common.

Who's Burning?
Kinda what I was thinking. Maybe a propane stove? If we put in a woodstove we'd have no control over how seasoned the wood is and probably end up with burns on the carpet. Maybe just forget the whole thing.

Who's Burning?
We are set up for wood. Splitter, saws, dumping trailer. It's a lot more expensive to use pellets. But it's better than electric heat or propane. Nice dry heat. We've got 30 or so 50 year old for trees on our property. We take one down a year and scrounge for the rest. This year we have maple, Apple, cedar, lilac, vine maple and fir. Non of which was paid for. My neighbor gave is 3' diameter bales of split cedar kindling. Like 1/4-1/2" x 16". Gave us 4 bales. Brake them in half over your knee 2-3 at a time and makes great starter wood. We use a propane push button torch to start and no paper. Load on some cedar firewood topped with some fir and we going. We have 2 rentals that are all electric. Thinking about pellet stoves to increase the desirability and rent of the units. Only thing that bothers me is the routine maintenance. Will they do it?

woodstove talk again....
Should be less restrictive covers. One that rotates with the wind for instance. Burning Douglas fir, we go 2 years between cleanings. No ooze or goo, just flaky dry stuff in the chimney. A good woodstove that has secondary combustion is a help too. We have a morso and 2 Jotul stoves. But there are a few food american made stoves too. These zonal stoves allow us to heat the parts for house we desire and use less than 3 cords a year. Quadra fire stoves seem like a good one made in America. Straight up pipes draw best.

Mpg/idle fooler install question?
So that grey thing that the big harness goes through is just a bit higher than the one i was going to go through. Just slice that with a razor and push through sounds pretty easy. Woukdnt want to void the lifetime warrenty.

Mpg/idle fooler install question?
I've got the fooler into the dash and all put back together. Wires coiled under steering wheel. The hole I want to go through, the connectors won't fit through. I've got my fuel pressure line already going through it. It would simplify my life greatly to cut off all 4 connectors, thread it through the firewall and then reconnect the connectors. Do you see any problems with that? How tight are the wire length? Will this cause additional resistence in the wires and mess with the operation of the fooler?

Best Sport headlight Harness
I think the best sport headlight is not a sport headlight. Here on this website Michael has provided a wiring diagram which only requires an on off switch. The rest is controlled by your normal high low headlight selector. Aftermarket fog lights and driving lights are far superior at offer a lot much larger selection than the sport headlight. Nope he gives you fog lights. I've been gives your driving lights. On off switch select between normal lights and fog/driving lights.

Not sure there is any that size left. But 10' I think. I could take you to a place in Colton. Private tree farm.

47RE to NV4500 swap with minor issues
How's it feel to drive it now?

Cedars naturally grow best in fairly wet and lowland environments. Also like the shade of fellow trees. So specimens out in the open are prone to a short life. Don't handle drought well. If grown in the right spot, can live for hundreds of years. I've seen them 14' diameter. Amazing to see them cut down!

Yes, Thuja plicata. I wish you luck! Don't want to be one to crush your dreams. Lol. Just saying that there is cedar that splits easy and cedar that doesn't. Same as Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menzisii). Some splits and some crushes with a 30 ton splitter. Depends on how it's grown. Trees grown in tight proximity tend to shed branches before they get big. Trees grown in the open tend to grow large branches and create big knots and curved grain.

Sounds difficult. Most cedar like that I've solit for firewood has had a lot of knots and difficult to split. Good straight grain cedar of large diameter splits into kindling very easily. Just my oppinion.

Best compromise fuel economy to price of diesel sedans or wagons?
There are a few Mercedes awd's out thre too. But if it's bad weather I'll just drive the cummins. Want a fuel miser and spend in the $7k range max, preferably less. There are some late 80's to mid 90's for $4k. Pretty impressive looking for the money.

Best compromise fuel economy to price of diesel sedans or wagons?
Looking on Craigslist I see quite a few Mercedes' that are reasonable cost and very nice looking. Some claim to get 40 mpg range. Anyone know about them having a timebomb transmission? These all seem to have 200k +.

Yeah, not a Specimen. Multi topped trees are a hazard. As the leaders grow in diameter they push on each other and it was just a matter of time before one or more leaders split off. Had sap suckers feeding off it too. A sign of low vigor. Cedar not the best firewood, but burns hot and it's free. You can sleep easy with your decision.

I am going to be looking for a high mileage vehicle. I'm a big guy, so nothing super small. But do you guys have a recommendation for a high mileage diesel? Something pushing 50 mpg that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I asked before about the Passat B4's. Still on my mind as they are roomy and simple to work on.

Return tee on back of engine
I'd be nice to relocate the fitting to an area which is easier to get to. Even if it requires reinventing the wheel. Like on the bracket you had made for your gauge senders.

3rd gen front breaks on 2nd gen
To make this more interesting to all of us, what's the benefit of 3rd gen brakes? What all is needed and what's the cost. Some of us already have 4 wheel disc.

Ram 1500 diesel
Why can't anyone make a 4 cylinder diesel small truck? Go for exonomy and reasonable power.

Are you aware of the silent killer?
I think we'd be better off if we had em all yanked out at first sign of problems. Biggest scam I know of is dentists. How many hundreds of thousands so we pour into our teeth over our lifetime?

Straight Pipe Muffler
Michael, Are you stock other than the muffler? I thought we were different dimentions like 3.25 and 3" in various locations.

High idle magically appeared
Never did it before. Doesn't the ECM need to be flashed in order for it to work with the switch? If it's something that can be flashed by dodge, it must be there somewhere. Just high idle. Comes on after about a minute and I moved my truck to hook up a trailer and left it running. Came back on again until I hit the throttle like you would an automatic choke on a carburetor. Then moved the truck and trailer to another position in the driveway and left running. High idle came on again. It comes up slow until it hits about 1,300. After you start driving it goes away. Never did it before the ECM was flashed by a smarty. And 6 months we'er having a cold snap and overnight temps are about 20*. Came about last 2 mornings. Coldest temps this year.

High idle magically appeared
I don't have that feature. This is coming from stock ECM

High idle magically appeared
Mulcher flashed my ecm last summer and it must have included the high idle update. Temps have been near 20* last couple of nights and the high idle came one after a minute or so of starting. Running about 1,300 rpm. It's running on 6 cylinder high. I do not have the idle fooler mod.
