  1. On the highway cruising is right about 20. Drops to 19.5 on the hills and up to 20.5 on downhills. Peak timing is near 26. Yes, they are completely different animals when trying to tune.
  2. If you call good stuff crazy high timing that I would never have expected
  3. Not my place, but I thought you guys would like this. My dad bought another D2 dozer that isn't running to use for parts. The guy picked up this D2 with his service truck, drove with it, then set it on my dad's trailer. I thought for sure it was going to break, but it held up just fine! BTW it weighs 7K+
  4. To get an accurate reading, you need to install the EGT probe in the exhaust manifold (pre-turbo)
  5. Is your egt probe in the manifold or exhaust pipe? Those are 4th gen rims too
  6. Many things may surprise you... Low boost + high timing = very noisy and rattling Mid to high boost and high timing = fairly quiet low timing + low boost = fairly quiet low timing + mid to high boost = extremely quiet.
  7. Mine does this in high idle, part throttle revved up, etc. It only does it with no load though. Through different VP's, injectors, programmers, an entire engine, etc it has always done it. I chalk it up to an angry injection system and live with it.
  8. Very good numbers!! I've seen mine climb since the "cruise" timing was implemented by Nick. Very good work by him.
  9. Ugh dang photobucket. Finally got my other dyno run loaded up. I think it has a lot more in it, but drive pressures are way through the roof with a tight secondary.
  10. Looks like a nice trip! Glad you got out and away from everything for a bit
  11. c Can-bus fueling only. Torque number is a tad low, but that's to be expected with an unloaded dyno.
  12. @Me78569 I think it's crucial that we also put the major modifications in the post too. That was someone can find a setup close to theirs and use that to tune. Also missed the Max Fuel Stretch 300 hp injectors, 62/75 twins, SBDD with G56 My DD tune. Usually doesn't come above level 2 unless I need to get moving. 13. Looking forward to this, and I can do some testing as well. I don't see the smarty working for me, but I do enjoy being proved wrong! I'm excited. I love using CC and haven't been able to, so this should make me very happy! It should also stay in cruise state no matter what considering the petal isn't moving. Having the boost at the right # will help with spool for me... Having to set 0 quite low to tune out smoke then not see the boost gauge move until 7psi is causing some lag.
  14. Should be at the store tomorrow and I'll be able to take a look. Only downside to paint is the tires are going to throw some rocks against them and cause them to chip. Meh, I'll figure something out.
  15. Well I still have leftover bedliner from doing the front bumper, so it's free other than my own time. Guess I've got some thinking to do. Thanks!
  16. Didn't have the truck for a month and a half, swamped by school, put truck back together, swamped by school, do some testing for quad, swamped by school Many say masters degrees are easier... not at this school! Anyway, there are flat plastic pads near each door that I'll get a picture of. I would remove them or bedline around them if I used the bedliner You're correct. Which way would you lean? Hmm, you've given me lots to think about! I may try painting them, then if I don't like it I can always sand em down and spray them with the bedliner. Can't really do it the other way.
  17. Got some steps for the truck the other day. Couldn't beat 50 bucks! They really help for the days after squat day Anyway, I need some opinions.... Do I spray them with bedliner to match the rockers, or just paint them black?
  18. Hmm.... too bad you can't stack data links.... otherwise you could show us some edge timing @Mopar1973Man. It'd be interesting to compare stock, edge, smarty, quad. Feel like splicing some wires
  19. Filled up tonight at 17.8mpg with 340 miles. That's 1/2 city, 1/2 highway and running 80 on the highway. Some old school quad, some smarty, some new quad and some crazy timing We'll get something figured out eventually. SG says it's reading PSI, but mine is always high was well. Seems to be going up in 1psi increments but I'll look again tomorrow. Going to have to do something with that as I'm still not reading boost until I have 4psi. Makes the truck a bit laggier in the city. Lots of power when she spools though! Smarty: (because I'm not affiliated with any company in any way) Smarty timing does not go below about 17.5* of timing during normal driving, making it smokey and spool slower. I'm going to catch what a throttle stab does with can-bus fuel on smarty and compare it to the quad with the quad v2 , so everyone can see how the smarty is just throwing a boat load of fuel on even at 0psi and how quad limits the fuel to the user defined setting to eliminate smoke. As a note, I am not bashing smarty. Actually I've enjoyed years of towing with it, I just think their tuning makes truck run very dirty in stock form and horribly dirty with big injectors.
  20. Gotta love the fan. The mystery noise refuses to be found!
  21. Got the interior all fixed up after the truck being stolen. Had some broken wires in in the stereo harness because they didn't unplug them, they just pulled. They also blew all four speakers..... must have had them BLASTED. Now they're upgraded to Pioneers all the way around. Got a new deck put in as well. Can't beat $20 - bought it from my sister! Picked up the key lock switch and lock cylinder, and both door lock cylinders. Then had the dealership re-key the ignition lock cylinder to match the doors. I installed some ways to kill the truck which will not be disclosed here. I am having a very expensive security system installed Saturday as well. I'm not going to say what's in it, but it's going to cost me well over a grand. I'll be getting the paint fixed at the end of the coming summer. Can't afford to have it down over winter.
  22. Start with the easy stuff. Take the smarty off and leave the edge alone. Then take the edge off and leave the smarty on. If it's gone on both of those the programmers are fighting about something.
  23. Sounds pretty close to what mine did. I made if 4 miles from the house and it started white smoking with nearly no power. Limped it back home at 30mph and pulled an 0216 code. Hopefully warranty will be fast and easy!
  24. It's not going to restrict exhaust flow enough to raise egts and make you notice it. Buy it, run it, enjoy.
  25. Timing log. That's with zero quad fueling though. If I remember that's below OEM fueling too. I believe it's OEM timing as well.
