  1. You buy it as a little "kit" from cummins. It has the sleeve, seal (made for that thickness of sleeve), and the installation tool.
  2. Pan gasket is a job... make sure you have the ability to pick up one side of the motor or you'll never get the pan out past the suction tube. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, but either way trans and clutch will have to come out. From there you can decide if the bell housing is necessary. If you are buying the seal ahead of time make sure you get one with a sleeve. It's likely the crank is grooved.
  3. Me: No way this is getting fixed.... Body guy: Give me a couple hours and I'll get back to you An hour later - Body guy: Give me another hour Me: Idk I'm still skeptical.... BAM this guy works wonders! Hopefully finishing up the body line tonight.
  4. Your turbo is also pretty big... something that would spool faster would help!
  5. We'll see. I really liked the way Mishimoto stepped through their whole design and build process on Cummins Forum. They didn't keep anything a secret, and that's why I decided to give them my business! ( and DAP for supporting the site)
  6. They are easy and cheap to replace.... I'd just replace them but I also have a money pit for a truck
  7. It'll be nice to give a review of an upgraded intercooler. I can't find reviews for anything anywhere.....
  8. It was really interesting how the truck acted with zero boost fooling. 3rd gear it seemed to really limit the engine's power once above 25psi of boost. 4th gear it pulled up to 32psi of boost then limited power, and fifth gear it held steady at 30psi. Max I could get the egts to was 1050
  9. I should be ordering trans and clutch parts on monday so that I can put the clutch in two weeks from now. Steering and rhino lining have been ordered. A new bumper will be installed around christmas...... The truck is now in the shop getting the body damage fixed. The TST is being shipped out monday to be turned into the comp version. I'm curious to see what RPM it will actually pull to
  10. Spot on. With more durating you want more timing. Give the fuel time to atomize and combust before the cylinder heads back down
  11. Hopefully it lowers them. I would strongly recommend against just honing it because of what I said in the PM earlier. With a lot of miles it's likely the bores aren't round anymore and you may run into trouble getting the rings to seat properly. Way I see it, if you're going that far into it just get it bored. I think the boring only cost me $500-$700, and that included a sonic cleaning (If that's what it's called), all passages scrubbed by hand, boreing, and honing.
  12. Yeah that's why I hooked it up to a gooseneck and worked it pretty hard right after the rebuild. It REALLY helped it run better after that trip. So.... I went ahead and ordered a new intercooler today. Mishimoto black! Big thanks to Jacob at Diesel Auto Power! http://dieselautopower.com/mishimoto-performance-intercooler-black-mmint-ram-94bk/
  13. ECM messing up and sending bad signals, but that's rare. I like industrial injection pumps. They seem to have the least problems.
  14. If your fuel pressure is good you can try adding some 2 stroke to the oil, but you will eventually need a new VP44.
  15. Held mine at 1700+ deg at over 100mph for much longer than I should have. Smarty was on #1 (Highest timing) and TST on 9. Pistons looked fine when I took them out. Edge has less timing than the smarty. I wouldn't be worried about the timing.
  16. That audi on my left wasn't too happy he couldn't keep up with the old truck! Sorry CSM you gotta let me know what parts you're needing before I sell them!
  17. Oops we were talking about different things. Yeah that's the new intake horn installed! The AFE is already sold.....
  18. Haven't gotten one.... Deciding whether to buy a turbo or an intercooler while it's getting the body damage fixed. I can pick a stock one up cheap, but the aftermarkets are not
  19. I've got one I could have given you!! On a side note my trucks exhaust were fine.... but the intake were pretty nasty.
  20. More volume and more pressure always helps!!
  21. You're not going to hurt it running high levels of timing. It actually drops EGTs.
  22. It's all up to you. If you have a hard time with self control drop the level so the egts don't go crazy high. If you're good at monitoring the gauges you can crank it up and be just fine. I personally just run my smarty when towing, which would be level three for your edge.
