  1. Sorry no old car parts in this yard, just 50 years worth of farm junk and scrap, I am not hauling to make money just to clean up the area of hazards and eye sores.
  2. My new dump trailer will make that chore a lot easier now too. Going to be a busy summer cleaning scrap iron from my in-laws farm now that I have a better way to haul it out.
  3. Pretty much an unlimited free supply of wood around me, not the best wood in the world but free is free and its everywhere. If I get lazy I have an unlimited supply of pallets and crates I can grab from work too.
  4. My shop has an overhead propane furnace. I have it on a low temp thermostat that I can turn down to 35* when not working in it, but nice that it keeps things from freezing yet. I have a dark brown south facing shop door that absorbs some heat so when the temps are in the 20's it warms the inside of the shop just enough the furnace rarely kicks on, it is insulated but not very well or finished off yet. If I would finish it and add more insulation my heating cost would be really minor.
  5. The overhead radiant heaters are extreme energy hogs, about the least efficient highest cost form of heat. Waste oil burners are fairly high maintenance from what I have seen and heard, very picky about having clean oil to operate correctly.
  6. Ha Ha yeah you live in a different world, I love how repair shops do it down south, pour a slab and line up the hoists outside next to a small building with room enough for an office and toolboxes and maybe some parts and oil storage and that's about it.
  7. Most of the 4 posts I have been around have one or two rolling front to back and side to side adjustable air jacks built right on the lift to jack up the axles off the drive on rails. Lift designs are almost endless now days to accommodate ceiling heights and bay sizes ect. http://bencostuff.com/products/45/2-post-pro-9f.aspx
  8. If I had a low ceiling I would have a 4 post drive on, working off of a roller chair is really nice too, although I have worked around a lot of drive on 4 posts I could pretty much stand up under as well. and the posts were only about 7 feet tall at best.
  9. I have a Rotary brand 7k lb. asymmetric 2 post and I can stand under my vehicles except for the VW I have to spread my legs a wee bit in some area but have little to do directly under it most times anyhow and am 6'2-3. Getting up and down and laying on a creeper more than a few minutes is a guaranteed trip to the chiro the next day for me, not sure why but it always gets me which is why I got the hoist. Most hoists also have spacers or extension blocks that can be put on the arms to increase the height if needed as well. I have a set that came with mine but never need to use them.
  10. My back cringes every time I see a creeper so you can imagine what I am thinking right now about seeing one laying on a board. Can't work without a hoist anymore. I can lay on a creeper for a minute or two to crawl under something and assess what needs to be done before putting it on a hoist. Gods heat has it up to -10*f here right now even in full sunlight.
  11. Can't say its and injector yet, they can only do what the IP makes them do, if the IP can't make enough pressure to pop the injector it could be the VP yet causing issues that have not yet fully developed to causing a code or other symptoms. Just need to wait and see where his digging leads us at this point.
  12. I can't even think how many times I have seen and heard knocks like that and worse all caused by injector issues. have seen a lot of wasted time labor and parts costs thrown at equipment by misdiagnosed knocks where folks thought it was internal versus fuel related. Start simple and work your way in, do not tear in and work your way out. Crack injector lines then go with an infrared heat gun and hit the exh. manifold ports looking for a cold cyl then go from there. Remember you are diagnosing a diesel not a gas engine.
  13. Very long story short, my wife's horse comes from national championship cutting horse bloodline not sure the name right off, will have to ask her when she gets home from work today" Suspect she was sold due to being wrong color and or born wrong time of year by the breeders". When she found this out is when she was prodded into registering her by the trainer who green broke her. He owns the national champion stud cutting horse who is an uncle IIRC to her mare lol. Didn't know this until she showed him the bloodline papers after the training was done. The trainer knew she was special and kept hounding my wife for the info for several months and when she showed him the papers his jaw hit the floor and said I knew it. He said she was by far the easiest and smartest horse he had the pleasure of training in over 40 years of doing it. He knows and has worked with and competed against the folks who sold her, family from South Dakota. After looking at your horse and hers its eerie how closely colored and face stripe and rear socks they are really similar in appearance.
  14. Figured we could get some conversations going about some of our other forms of transportation. Here are some pics of my wifes crew some of which she shares ownership with her mother like the Donkeys and Mini horses and goat. I will type out the story of her horse when I feel like typing for a while, very long story of how this horse is still alive and thriving today, my wifes passion for life and horses helped pull this mare through massive injuries that would have killed or caused the euthanasia of most animals. No animal in the pics cost more than 10 bucks from the sales barn and other than the horse and routine hoof trimmings have been low to no cost animals. Her mare was purchased as a small colt for 4 dollars and the Jenny was brought home after purchase and a couple weeks later came Donkey #2 via birth lol, nobody knew she was pregnant. The goat and the mini horses are worthless grass munchers. The pictures are thanks to my brother in law who is a semi pro photographer, or in other words has a hobby that occasionally gets him paid gigs lol. The Jenny her name is "Jenny" the lite colored one is my best bud of the crew, she is super friendly and she loves on me like no other, her son "Cracker" is a spoiled rotten kid with an attitude. My wife's horse Sady loves on me too for some reason. She is a nice smart horse but has always been attracted to me for some reason, my wife just shakers her head and says its a girl thing I wouldn't understand lol.
  15. My wife has a registered mare quarter horse as well. Bought it as a colt, very smart horse and knows it too.
  16. Them pack mules are gong to look real goofy with that pop up camper on their backs lol.....................
  17. Save up them pennies and when you can afford it buy a used Horse trailer with living quarters in it, problem solved on both fronts and only one thing to maintain instead of 2.
  18. Was wondering why I was seeing them pop up all over the place all of a sudden. now I know.
  19. I agree, crack injector lines one at a time and see if it isolates one cylinder or quiets down or enhances it. I still think fuel issue caused by low fuel psi/flow from low voltage.
  20. We had a 33* day and I was in town and tried out a different car wash that did an excellent job for $7.50, fully automated rotating brush wash with underbody wash as well, I couldn't hardly see out anymore as well with about a months worth of liquid salt and deicing beet juice solutions they pour on the roads now built up over all the windows and everything else.
  21. Those crazed libs out in that Missoula area are sabotaging your rig, that's my story and I am sticking to it. Seriously though what was your fuel pressure just before the batteries died, possibly ran the voltage down to where you lost fuel pressure long enough to kill the VP and it is dying a slow death but just has not thrown any death codes yet, symptoms sound like they could be all fuel related. Just spit balling here.
  22. The Revenant wasn't too bad, saw it last weekend but want to see the Hate full 8, these are more my type of movie.
  23. Have not seen the new star wars movie, heck the last one I saw was return of the Jedi, never watched any of he 2nd series. Only comics I ever found interest in were b.c. is my all time favorite and then the wizard of id. Never found much in any others to spark my interest.
