  1. With all the negativity in the world now days I decided to show a positive post for once...................................
  2. So that's where they go for the winter..........................................
  3. "It's too bad our government doesn't require everyone to put time in the service. I think everyone should go through boot camp and basic training. Everyone should have weapons Proficiencies. This would help them deal with stressful situations too. " Be very careful what you wish for.
  4. I personally do not know any of the people involved but a co-worker said he knew one of the guys who shot one of the cats. I was just sharing a story that was kind of out of the ordinary here of 3 cats taken in the same area in one weekend.
  5. Here is the story about the top picture. http://nodakangler.com/forums/showthread.php?4536-Big-Cat-Great-Story Big Cat, Great Story This is a heartwarming story here, chase Wisness was paralyzed in a car accident a few years back. Rusty Christopherson and dusty Hausauer tried to make it happen for chase all season but just never had the luck. But today was a different story. I got the phone call this morning from a neighbor north of me that said he found a track. I called rusty and we took our dogs up there and stuck em on the track. Dogs treed this nice female lion and we were fortunate enough to get chase in there on a sled to harvest this amazing animal. Talk about some great people, great friends, and an awesome story nobody will soon forget! Congrats chase Wisness! On a side note I am 1000% against using dogs to run down cats, to me this is as immoral a hunting practice as one can get, I am not for making things illegal but in this instance I am dead set against it unless it is a creature who has become destructive or dangerous to humans. Falls into the same category as "Baiting" of any sort in my book, pretty pathetic way of hunting.
  6. I think where Mike lives he once posted he is in the 2500 foot elevation range, not too different than my area of ND. My house is @ roughly 2200 feet.
  7. As the human race has evolved to be so advanced in some ways we are still by nature the most primitive of all species as we have never evolved past being one of the extreme few as a species who can kill each other for no reason. I do not agree with her at all on the use of violence as the only way to defeat anyone no matter the circumstance. She also has no more knowledge of the Muslim religion than any other standard red neck after listening to her, even within the Muslim religion there are different beliefs much the same as in Christianity here in western cultures dissect the bible into different meaning so do the Muslims have this same issue, one need not look past the Kurds and Sunni relationship, ongoing wars over nothing more than how each views the same essential Islam religion. What are these NADS she refers too?????
  8. Was a good weekend for finding Kitty cats here in ND this weekend. These were taken about 125 miles NW of where I live but there is a population that spans our entire state, the last few years cats have been taken in all corners of ND, there was one killed only 8 miles from my house a couple years ago and have been numerous sitings all around my house the last several years, I have seen tracks in the snow while hunting but never seen one in person in the wiild. We also have Bobcats but are rarely ever seen, most are taken by trap or snare and even that is rare, sneaky little buggers. I am personally a coyote caller, have done it my whole life and is great fun. http://www.kfyrtv.com/home/headlines/2-Mountain-Lions-Harvested-Over-Weekend-361818111.html
  9. We got 3-4 inches on Friday and then heavy fog all weekend which is just starting to lift and another 2-4 inches forecast for tues - wed and it will be coming with wind this time. So this is what we maybe in for. It is not an uncommon event with a small amount of snow with wind to make areas look like the pic below lol.
  10. First responders are still dying along with anyone in the vicinity of the twin towers when they came down from the toxic dust they created. Again as the story pointed out that was one event that the gov has tried most successfully to sweep under the rug as the narratives imploded on themselves time and again. So not only did the destruction of the buildings and planes kill a lot but the collateral damage is still being tallied in loss of lives from first responders.
  11. Rand still has the best overall disposition in my mind. Ben has it down on domestic issues but his stance on world issues he is just another hack that wants to continue all the ongoing wars with the world, he would fall into bed with the neocon war mongers the second he was sworn in I am afraid from all that I have heard from him in debates and speeches.
  12. Didn't know nobody could see it. Not sure how to post it another way. But I will try. Can you see it now? I saved it to my computer and attached it like a pic now.
  13. Williston is Paddle fish central not where I am at, It is about 150+- miles NW of me as the crow flies. Dix is a nice town, Minot has had its issues more so than most towns since the oil boom, lots more trouble there than Williston especially of late, has brought in a lot more riff raff on top of what the AFB has had there for a long time already.
  14. My brother in law has missed the state record on paddle fish twice over the years by just a couple pounds each time lol........The current record is 74" and 130# in 2010 taken @ the Missouri river and Yellowstone confluence near Williston ND. I have never gone paddle fishing but it is on my bucket list. Here is the ND state records for fish. https://gfapps.nd.gov/reports/fisheries/StateRecordFishList.pdf Second down on the list is Brown trout, I was working with Tim @ the time he caught this at the tail race coming out of the garrison dam in a boat, this guy is hard core I think it was about -10* the day he caught it from his boat. this is the only non hard water in the state lol he has a heated garage about 20 miles from the spot his boat goes to as soon as it is pulled from the water.
  15. Ha Ha Nodak angler forums pretty much did a take over of a long time outdoors forum that was the go to forum for 10+ years but the admin and moderators got too overboard on things and another guy started a new forum and pretty much killed the old site within a couple months, there are folks on the forum from all over the place even though it is a local guy who started it. place runs smooth and is a fun site to hang out on.
  16. Just got in from a 6 mile run, in t-shirt and shorts on December 9 @ 60*+- when it should be 20's for highs here in ND. Worked up a good sweat too.
  17. 60* sunny and very light breeze here right now, going to be a very record setting day across our region, just headed out to go for a run in shorts and t-shirt in December when it should be highs in the teens lol but we are going to have strong winds tomorrow blowing in some normal temps for the season. Got to enjoy it while I can.
  18. explain the keg on coals please. Looks like another thread story alone lol. I realize some like to drink their beer warm but come on man that's going a bit too far. Now smilies do not work from my work computer, cleared everything and still nothing.
  19. You heat haters are a strange bunch...............................
  20. I got really lucky with finding my wife. She grew up not having much being the youngest of 7 kids on a small dairy farm. She likes the simple life and has no problems with it, heck she actually has to real me in most days. That diagram would be my wife on top and me on the bottom according to her most days lol.
  21. The only thing I like about the cold is how clean the air smells and how eerily dead quiet it can be on calm days / nights during sub zero temps with no wind or breeze.
  22. Hammer I am so Jealous of you right now.......................But then again even though my bvoating water season is over we are having 50*+ weather in December so can't complain, had a couple inches of snow last week but that is now gone already, looks to be 40-50's this coming week when we should normally be teens and 20's for highs, we are barely getting down to our normal high temps for lows which is no problem for this guy, getting more sick of winters every year.
  23. Annoying people by making technical corrections most every day in many different ways. I do this as a hard wired trait I was born with I guess. My wife still has not learned to read me after 23 years together because I do it seriously and I do it jokingly and have a monotone way of doing it which drives everyone crazy who has know me most of my life. I thinks its fun. I know this as every forum I am part of has most thinking I am an ****** not being able to see my face while I type, heck I have a half evil grin on my face as I type this. Other than that I try not to work on my rigs unless its broke or preventative anymore, after 20+ years of doing it for a living and then doing my own have learned its not fun anymore. I am trying to spend more time enjoying life rather than making more work for myself. Difference between work and play. If I am sweating and not having fun it is work. If I am sweating and I don't know it I must be enjoying myself. I try and spend as much time in on and around the water as possible as the season and weather allows. My dream is to be living in South West Florida within a few years and finding a job in the marine industry of some sort, not sure what or where this will lead me but as long as I am working a job that allows me to enjoy the year round warmth and water is good for me. I have many hobbies I have either once been into and lost interest or just do not have time for anymore. I used to do a ton of reloading but don't shoot as much as I used to. For hunting a box of 20 rifle shells will last me about 10 years. I do not miss too often. Last 2 deer I have taken several years ago were 500 & 600+ yards with a 22-250, my old main go to was a 30-06 but I have many other guns now and love my hand guns more now days, even do a lot of my hunting with them rather than rifle as I like the challenge. My wife and I like to travel and spend money on life experiences now rather than "Stuff", Have had lots of friends and family die over the years and have had to help clean out homes and during this process realize all the "Stuff" one collects means little to others as we haul most to second hand stores or pitch it or let others take what they want, seeing this has made my wife and I realize travel and experiencing life is more important than "Stuff" we live simple, no cable satellite only replace things due to need or breakage ect, heck our newest tv is 10 years old and the other is about 25 years old. I tell my wife if it has no practical use it has no place in our home.
  24. Terminology 101. Low idle equals just that idle speed. High idle equals full throttle foot to the floor governed speed, every mfg I have ever seen refers to maximum governed engine speed as High idle. Elevated idle is what everyone talks about wanting for warm up and extended idle as high idle which is wrong term for elevated idle. As far as wind, excuse me my bad for throwing the term "Wind Chill" which is a scientific weather term into the mix, no it does not have an effect on iron, I do not use engines in this alone as I am talking all lubricated forms of equipment iron overall..................But wind alone does in extreme cold conditions talking sub zero here alone, even on a dead cold hunk of iron and years of experience will not change my mind. On any chunk of iron which is running or plugged in there is parasytic heat loss which is directly affected by "Elevated air movement' lol.
