PSM / Home depot cold air intake mod with deep pleated filter
Is the filter you run the standard depth or a deep pleated filter? I am surprised you do not pull up the filter minder if its a standard depth filter. I have a couple extra restriction gauges and tried them and tried a few different drop in standard depth filters and they all pulled the minder about half ways just normal daily driving it. Since going to the wix deep filter I have never since seen mine move.

my 04.5 & me..smarty jr..lite pedal/smoke
Every time I look at my high point IAT it is always at 180ish but I have not watched close enough to see when it happens, when I am watching it's always under 100. I have yet to pull or run it hard or do any throttle romps.

Whats the part called?
A- arms are usually sold as a complete assembled unit anyhow from my past experience.

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
Yeah I noticed this thing is pretty fun to drive with Tq at level 3 just driving it around, figured if I was to hook to a trailer I would back down to level 1 again. Not too worried about the tranny, I drive by feel anyhow and don't redneck it and @ nearly 120K on it if it dies I am prepared to do some tranny upgrades, I feel that if it has lasted me this long with as heavy as I tow with it I am not too worried it has earned its keep already but at the same time I am not going to purposely abuse it either. I will keep it @ sw#3 for a while to get a feel for things and a baseline for mileage. having driven it 3 times so far and getting on it a bit on ramps ect I have yet to break 1000 egt. 960 is tops I have seen. Just cruising it hangs 500-600 range.

Sad to see so many broken homes, failed marriages
Its too easy to end a marriage now days and is actually promoted in society versus working issues out from what I see. My wife and I dated for 2.5 years and then were engaged for another 2.5 years and have now been married for near 17 years now. We dated and were engaged longer than a lot of marriages last now days, I think most jump into things too fast now days.

how hot is too hot for trans temp
Your fine, no worries at that point where you are measuring.

how hot is too hot for trans temp
How hot did it get?

how hot is too hot for trans temp
Depends on the oil standard or syn, 230+- tops for regular oil and if it was there for an extended period I would dump it, syn can go up higher but if I saw 250+ I would dump syn oil as soon as I could too even though it can handle higher temps for a lot longer it would be cheap insurance. Realistic it could handle closer to 300 but I would not feel good about running it if it hit those temps. This is if it was measured at the converter outlet cooler line at the tranny, if one saw those temps in the pan your tranny is Kentucky fried already.

Bully Dog Platinum upgrade ?
I e-mailed you some good info Ed, I think you will find it helpful. I see you are from homestead Fl. My wife and I have been through there several times in the last few years, nice area we love all the produce stands, it feels like home with the small town Ag industry just like here in ND. Between AH64ID and his extensive insider knowledge of the touch and me just learning but figuring it out fairly quick we can walk you through it and Brian from Smarty is on here almost daily as well.

Driveline and suspension questions...
I agree with the above comments on the ARB lockers, when I worked at the gear shop I rebuilt many of them and actually replaced many carriers due to bad seals and or worn out housings not being able to seal up anymore. They may be ok if it was a trail / off road rig only but to use as a dd'er they do not hold up at all. In the rear I would do a good old fashioned Detroit locker, rough and tough and loud but nearly indestructible, front I would do and E-locker. Suspension I would look here. http://www.carlisuspension.com/dodge-ram/components/index.html

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
Just got back from my moms grave site, about 100 miles tonight and it is back to its old self again just like it was with the JR only with the ability to set the other items separately it feels a bit more snappy now.. Have not had gauges in a rig since selling the 02, I was used to seeing 900* as the lowest while daily driving with an average of 1050-1200 pretty common all day long, after 250 miles on the 05 in 2 days have not seen over 950* yet.

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
I noticed that when I programmed it again this morning I see why I absolutely hated the first tune and was wondering why it shifted bad and it felt like I needed to move the floor boards ahead about 6 more inches.........................I had it on 1/2 power tune for my 140 miles I put on it yesterday, learning curve I guess, thought I had it on SW3 guess not but it is now. I reset the other items to SW3 Torque - 3 Timing - 1 Rail pressure - 1 waste gate - stock Will see how this does in comparison to 1/2 power. I think this is about 1 step below how I had it on the JR which was @ level 3 which I think would be SW5 on this thing.

Paying it forward
Looks like they are just that now pretty much a phone store, found this on wiki. 2015: Bankruptcy and emergence[edit] On January 15, 2015, The Wall Street Journal reported RadioShack had delayed rent payments to some commercial landlords[143] and was preparing a bankruptcy filing that could come as early as February. Officials of the company declined to comment on the report.[144] A separate report by Bloomberg claimed the company might sell leases to as many as half its stores to Sprint.[145] On February 2, 2015, the company was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange after its average market capitalization remained below $50 million for longer than thirty consecutive days.[146][147] RadioShack died years ago; we're only now holding the funeral. Good active managers have avoided RadioShack for a long time. —Gershon Distenfeld, Director, AllianceBernstein, CBS News[148]

Lets see who you are!
Here is me again on my pontoon from Friday on The Missouri river north of Bismarck, also spotted a bald eagle nest with 2 chicks in it. Wasn't far from here that we took pics of a young bull moose along the river banks in peoples back yards I posted somewhere here last fall. Oh yeah I forgot, most still think of ND as a flat wasteland You can't see the Butte in the back ground don't let this get out. Its just a mirage

Paying it forward
He will be lucky if they reactivate it being that old, I have my old Casio yet and it still works but has been dropped for any support and or updates a couple years ago already. You still have a Radio shack? They went bankrupt, they closed the one in Bismarck a few months ago, I bought a stand alone Bluetooth mp3-4 speaker for half price when they closed and sold out.

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
Getting frustrated a little bit now, hopefully it is a simple fix I can take care of once I find out, always happens on the weekend too so the wait always makes it worse and now a long weekend to boot with rain predicted for the next 3 days to make one sit inside and stew on it even more. On a positive note I have been playing with all the different dashboard gauge setups and found the one I like best finally being one analog and 5 digital displays. analog is tranny temp 5 digitals are EGT, Engine coolant temp, Engine air intake temp, Boost, Rail pressure actual value. Had to slow down the refresh rate to medium, the fastest default and even fast made the screen way to busy to watch.

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
LOL!!!! She got a speeding ticket for the first time in years a few days ago, she left town and forgot to look at her gauges until the low fuel dinger and light came on about 5 miles from home so she pulls off the interstate and onto a back road to get home a few miles shorter and she got nailed doing 70 mph in a 55 zone by a young new female recruit to the local county sheriffs dept so she didn't get off with a warning lol. Was only a $15 ticket though.

Yes, same as the SO6 unless I get the unlock codes for SSR or TNTR.

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
Got it programmed and got 1 dashboard set up. I was surprised as It seems to do the ecm update about 2-3 times faster than the smarty hand held units which was my biggest complaint about those things. Now for the maiden voyage today, going to the in-laws farm to mow and clean up and load up more scrap iron laying around the farm and maybe do some fence mending before 3 more days of rain set in.

How to add cab filter to 4th gen Rams
I did this mod to my 2010 hemi as my first mod to it when I got it. It is amazing how much dirt the filter catches that otherwise would be in the cab and in your lungs. I have changed the filter a couple times and it is totally loaded level with sand and dirt. I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled it out just how much was in it. I do live in and work in the country and this rig sees more gravel than pavement as well as sitting in the parking lot of a coal mine with the main haul road just a few hundred feet away so there are a lot of days it gets a nice coating of coal dust and dirt layering it. Genos sells a kit now but before they did I found the part #'s off another forum and just ordered them, install is very easy to do. here is a link from genos with a video showing intall of the cab filter kit on a 4th gen ram in general. http://www.genosgarage.com/DODGE-RAM-CABIN-AIR-FILTER-KIT-10-15/productinfo/GG-CFF1012/#.VWCbJLDbKUk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhOmi7hnY-Q

Additional oil and fuel filtering on a 3rd gen
Just throwing out a few pics of the additional filtering capacity I have added to my 05. I have an Amsoil remote oil bypass kit with a home made mount and location I came up with originally on my 02 and integrated it to my 05. behind that you can see the Fuel filter kit I installed from Vulcan performance with a 3 micron Donaldson filter between the OEM filter and the CP3.

PSM / Home depot cold air intake mod with deep pleated filter
There are a few who look at doing different intake systems on 3rd gens and the best for stock to moderately modified 3rd gens is still the OEM air box with an extra deep pleated filter and the cold air mod to the bottom of the box. I also have a PSM cool hose between the box and the turbo to eliminate the baffled thing the OEM used. Filter I am using is a Wix part # 49946. With the stock depth filter it would pull the restriction gauge up about half way on a brand new filter during normal daily driving, with the extra deep filter the surface area to pull air through is greatly increased and over the years running the extra deep filter have never seen my restriction gauge move even with a dirty "Looking' filter. Here you can see the bottom of the air box and a view through the tube to the ground and the lower portion of the tube.

Smarty Touch Install on 05 Cummins
And a few pics of the monitor stuck and ready for the programming, need to set up my gauge dashboards yet but first going to program SW3, rail pressure default stock and timing and tq both at 1 for starters for baselines for a bit and since I still have a stock auto trans. If ater I run this way for a bit and like it may jump to sw5 but need to start somewhere.
