The check ball is to prevent drain back of the cooler circuit oil back into the pan via the converter seals to not have to let it run for a while to get lube pumped back through the cooler circuit, you don't want to or need to remove this.- Friday Funny.

Around me it is tannerite versus beaver dams on a regular basis. Worst part is it happens about 500 feet from my house, neighbor has a house next to a creek in the middle of a poplar tree grove, beavers dam up the creek and that in return floods his basement so it is a constant battle and my wife is constantly re-leveling her pictures on the wall.- Heat Wave!
Been a bit cooler than normal here this spring, had a very dry fall and basically no snow this winter was looking to be dry then the rains came and have set in all spring , we are full of water in all aspects and eastern Montana has been getting a lot of water too causing the Missouri river to be running at just below minor flood stage in the North western part of ND. Ponds creeks rivers lakes and ground water are all at capacity and it has been raining consistently 1-2 times a week but it is keeping things nice but not causing too many issues yet. Yesterday it was extremely smoky and hazy all over ND due to firers in Canada, was supposed to be close to 90 yesterday and full sun but it only hit low 80's and was overcast hazy from the heavy smoke which kept the temps down, looks to be about the same today. No draught here at all. I know how they suck, as a kid I grew up on the farm through the mid 80's through the mid 90's years as a decade long draught here in the upper Midwest, wasn't fun at all. We have short stints every few years but have not had a bad long term one like that since luckily. Have been in a 10 year wet cycle now which has been nice and unusual for us.- Time for my first Cummins Headgasket
No worrries, you will have a leak external before internal most times where the injector lines don't seal to the crossover tube adapter some times and it is apparent when it happens will be fuel all over the top of the intake side of the head and smell real good when hot too. Just watch oil level for a few days but if it starts and runs fine wouldn't worry about it. No need to go easy on it is was just a head job not an overhaul and nothing to break in unless you cut O-rings or fire rings in the head then retorques are needed but if just stock let er buck.- 2008 Cummins 6.7L delete kit needed
Hey you should do an article about that! Come to think of it I don't think I have ever read an article here, if it doesn't show up as new forum content I never see it. I never venture outside what I am comfy with I guess.- 2008 Cummins 6.7L delete kit needed
There must be a few sensors in the DPF system so then what do they do with them, remove them from the system or leave plugged in and just tie them back?- 2008 Cummins 6.7L delete kit needed
You doing the job for him and what did he go with for a tuner?- No wait to start or grid heaters
Does it start even thought the WTS light isn't working? Reason I ask is years back when I first got a smarty programmer for my 02 I did my second download the day I got it and I was in the middle of no where about 40 miles from the closest town delivering a trailer to a guy at a meeting point and in the middle of the download it aborted and I lost the WTS lite and had a no start, found out it was a dead driver in the ecm that sometimes go bad during down loads, Smarty via Bob Wagner overnighted me a new ecm and I was on my way after a pull back home from the guy who was picking up the trailer lol.- Most amazing mod I've ever made to a 2d gen... a new cupholder.
I was lucky, never had an issue with them in any of my 3 second gens although the one up high on the 95 was dumb, wifes old 03 jetta was the same way. The one in my 2010 is pretty much the same as the 99 and 02 and the 05 flips down out of the lower dash and does squeak a lot on the back roads I drive daily. I did break a hinge on my 02 once, dog jumped in and stepped on it almost instantly.- Additional oil and fuel filtering on a 3rd gen
I had a FASS HPFP 150 "No filters" just a stand alone pump on my 02 and it was really loud as well, could hear it over the engine with the drivers window rolled down. Was like that for years. I just ran through the factory canister with a fleetguard 7 mic filter and had no issues.- blackstone lab report advise.
Oil analyzers usually has mine back in a week or less. I wouldn't worry about the potassium unless it starts showing sodium then you have coolant entry. I have seen on our equipment fleet results some equipment always show potassium but never develop past that. Just keep monitoring it as usual.- Coolant & Trans temp issues
Welcome to the m1973m forum. In comparison to the temps I run on my 05 the only thing I see wrong in your post above is the t-stat being too cold, the trans is a bit warm if measuring in the pan but not bad if seeing that in stop and go around town driving. What does your radiator look like externally and internally and how many miles are on it? Could be calcified on the inside. The heat exchanger is just that it is not a cooler, it is to help things warm up better. The oil leaves the heat exchanger to go to the cooler.- s300g slow spool

My wife just did 44.6 @ 75-80 with her CR diesel. You guys and your VP rigs...........- 2014 VW Jetta TDI emissions
Wife finally ran one tank through and hand calculated the mileage, @ a bit over 8k miles on the car now and recent deletes with eco stage 2 Malone tuning it went from a before average of 38-39 to this first tank of daily driving of 44.6 mpg. Not too shabby of a gain, hoping to see more as it breaks in a bit more and some more road miles. Pics of this last weekends wash day. Even got the Nissan Convertible washed and ready for tomorrows trip to Iowa.- EXHAUST NOISE drone

If you want to do extended oil change intervals or run in a bit more of a dirty environment then go for a bypass oil filter system, if you do regular oil change intervals and do not want to run extended drain intervals then it is not for you. I like Amsoil as they offer complete oil bypass filter kits and filters that are nicely put together already but more expensive than home brewed kits or the toilet paper bypass kit route. I remember about 7-8 years ago sitting through a fleetgaurd filter presentation class and this was top secret technology then, they talked about it but didn't want to give out too much at that time.- Hanging out with out Dodge Owners...
