  1. It has been a long time but I seem to think or remember that 1999 and earlier didn't have TM on a manual trans rig but 2000 and later did.
  2. Yes, on a 2nd gen, no wheels speed detected no to little boost is allowed "Defuel" safety feature not affected by edge products, smarty lessens this feature but does not eliminate it. BD makes a product that turns it off completely http://www.dieselperformance.com/index.php/product/index/43P
  3. What I am doing is along the lines of the paleo diet which is clean natural eating "whole foods" not processed or boxed crap, the way humans were meant to eat in the first place....grain free. I am not true paleo as I still eat dairy, true paleo diet is totally dairy free as well as grain free, I eat lots of cheese and ice cream on occasion and still cook with real butter occasionally but cut out the milk and dairy creamers at the start and switched to almond milk and coconut creamers which are just as good if not better tasting so it was an easy substitution. Main thing we live by now is If your food comes from a package and has an ingredient list it is probably not good for you. Eat whole single ingredient raw natural foods and cook with spices, its lots of fun trying new thing all the time. One thing to remember about our medical and insurance system and our for profit society, "THERE IS NO MONEY IN HEALTHY PEOPLE"!. The medical and food industry are only in it to get you addicted, sick and into the system and keep you in the system. They never treat a single issue to cure it which there is a natural cure for everything on the planet they only treat specific symptoms of the issue with drugs that cause other side affects for which they pick the next issue to treat another symptom and it keeps rolling from there. Look at the big picture. the same companies pushing and developing the GMO crops are the same companies who are developing the drugs to treat the illnesses of the result of eating the grains. Syngenta develops crops and drugs. bayer crop sciences, develops gmo crops and the drugs to treat the ill..................see a pattern here FOLLOW THE MONEY AND SEE THE BIG PICTURE. Look at how they are making it illegal to collect rain water and have your own gardens all over the country taking away your ability to eat clean fresh healthy foods again look at the big picture folks. The mega chemical and drug companies are the heavy hitter lobbiests in our government and pretty much write their own laws for their benefit now days. The new TPP trade agreement was an extension of this and pretty much handed over total control of our gov to the mega corps to now do as they please.
  4. Yep, did it here in this thread. We should take this conversation there so we are not jacking this thread with VW talk lol.
  5. Update, Just went in for another blood panel and BMI and I have improved yet some more since my last test in November, lost another litre of extra cellular fluid and weighed in @ 195 this morning. 17.4% body fat which is perfect for a person my age who is active and fit. Replaced about 10 lbs of fat with muscle and now have 1 pound more muscle 81 lbs weight than my body frame weight of 80 lbs which is also as good as it gets according to the DR. Not to shabby for a 44 year old. Still have not missed a single day of exercising since January 10 2014 and still going. Do a combo of running, elipticle and resistance work using nothing but incline and my own body weight on a total gym a friend donated to me. Will get my blood panel results the end of next week to see where I am at there or if anything has changed, I was doing great in Nov when I did my last one everything was perfectly healthy and normal, I suspect all is the same there but that is why one needs to do it yearly to catch things before they do develop. Still eating a clean grain free diet which is easy for me now, have no interest or cravings at all for baked goodies once I detoxed myself from them. I am not seeing the chiro nearly at all anymore also, at my worst I was going every week if not twice a week for a couple years and now am going maybe every 4-6 weeks for minor tune ups, no major pains like before when I was obese.
  6. You can tell a mechanic is different from the rest of the world because we wash our hands BEFORE going to the can.
  7. Passat is a different animal so it may have been released a year earlier than all the rest of the line.
  8. SCR "Urea" just came along in the VW line this year in 2015.
  9. Just learned sumtin, didn't know they has a shaft speed sensor in them now.
  10. How do you know what turbo rpms are? What air restriction is its rated rpm at any given rpm? Altitude, atmospheric pressure, humidity, temperature and a list a mile long will effect this. I like to use a vacuum cleaner as an example for turbo over speeding and air intake restrictions. Put your hand over the end of a vacuum hose and what does the motor do? Most will say it works harder because it makes more noise, but in reality is went into a vacuum and is working less hence why the motor sped up in a vacuum state having less to no air to pump and it speeds up, same happens with a plugged air filter, turbo speeds up since it is not pumping air it can not scavenge.
  11. From her recent road trip which was her first it did 10 mpg better than the best pre delete mileage which she never saw more than 39 mpg. normal dding she is seeing 45ish plus it has a lot more power as the ecu tune added about 35 hp which is a lot for a little 2l engine. It is snappy as all get out compared to when it was stock. She is now doing what our old 03 tdi jetta did for mileage plus this car is a lot bigger overall and way more comfortable and has a bigger engine and way more power.
  12. Yes 2014 "common rail" CR VW Jetta 2.0l 6 speed with full emissions deletes and a tuned ECU, she did a road trip to Minnesota last weekend and did 49.4 mpg @75-80 mph.
  13. Looks like that crew can keep you busy dripley. You and the Mrs. look pretty youthful yet for having great grand children already.
  14. I like good performance based tranny shops, they usually have the ability and know how of what and how to modify the VB's. its the daily in and out tranny shops that just throw parts at them and kick them out the door. Good tranny shops will not sell parts without knowing what you actually need, they custom tune it for your specific HP/TQ and use intended, if they don't ask those questions up front and just tell you they will install X kit, turn and walk away and find a quality trans build shop , not a volume rebuilder facility. I recently went through this with my 2010 Hemi. Then he saw the Bully Dog GT after the fact and was PO'ed to say the least I didn't tell him up front I had it even though I told them up front my use, I got lucky as the BD doesn't add much for power which after explaining it to him he was then alright with it. I had it in the pickup storage box but was not using it yet when the tranny failed. He had the tranny built and tuned to handle more than what the BD provides anyhow.
  15. I saw an article about GM coming with a diesel in the new Colorado midsized pickups soon too. supposed 30+ mpg in a 2.4l ? 4 cyl .package.
  16. Fluid d doesn't because its one piece. My 02 had slippage indicator marks and every one from a 24v I have seen had them, not sure on 12v ones. Would be odd if they didn't but anything is possible, they are not very big one on either side of the rubber.
  17. Ha Ha, wife got a speeding ticket on the way to Minn...............no surprise there. was doing 85 in a 75 but officer reduced it to 80 so no points off license, lucky she was still in ND just before Fargo otherwise the sting would have been a lot worse especially since their limit is 70 and not 75 like ND, got spoiled a few weeks earlier in SD on way to Iowa where interstate speed limit is now 80 mph. She did 49.4 mpg on the way to Mankato Minn last weekend from Bismarck ND. Pretty darn sweet mileage, Cost of Deletes and ecu tuneing are paying back fast now since in stock form never hit 40 mpg. Still waiting to see what she did on the return trip at normal speeds lol. She lost her receipt with the amount of fuel for the return trip but she is confident it did even better than the 49.4 it did on the way down from what she remembers putting in when she got home and she drove nicer and wasn't fighting a wind like the trip down. We will never know.
  18. OEM usually had either a center punch dimple or slight dash lines on each side of the rubber as an indicator of whether or not it had slipped.
  19. His is for 2nd gen, I don't bother with cheap parts like that, when I go ahead with something I do it up right the first time. Lucky for you I understand that Minnesota scandinavian slang being next door to them and having a large Scandinavian population in our state as well. I am of dutch and german heritage but consider myself bilingual since I can actually understand that other language lol.
  20. Sticking $50K into it still doesn't make it anymore valuable to a bank or ins company than book value unless it is a 40+ year old collectible. At best one can buy it back from the ins company and part it out or fix it up again, I have done this a few times in the past with different vehicles and trailers and even a motorcycle.
  21. My 05 with a half tank of fuel and normal supplies without me in it hooked to my triple axle 30' flatbed gooseneck trailer last week scaled 14,420 with an empty trailer. I think with a full tank of fuel normal supplies in the box and me in the cab is around 7800. I know my pickup and trailer are real close to the same weight.
  22. But I can set this for many different parameters not just a few gauges, I have 4 dash boards with up to 6 parameters I can monitor on each with a simple touch. Touch is coming along with many more additional cool features supposedly for us early 3rd genners.
  23. I had the opportunity to test drive a 2012 ram service truck with a 6.7 in it. It was a dog, and wandered just like my 02 after many parts and tweaks. Was it a 4500 or 5500 service truck by chance? if so they are de-rated and have less power than 2500-3500 pickups and are very doggy. As far as steering can't judge there depending on the rig and service body ect and how hard it has been beat. I have driven several 6.7 4th gens with high miles and they are all corvette like in both power and steering feel compared to even my 05.
  24. Fill me in as to why post injection is bad and you are worried about turning it off? I have not followed the performance end of things for a few years since selling my 02 and have not dug into performance knowledge of the 3rd gens much other than the basics. This forum is my only diesel go to spot anymore other than a VW TDI forum only when I have an issue. Not enough time in life anymore. I am on boating and outdoor forums more than anything now days.
