  1. The 5 PSI is enough debate rages on.................. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-powertrain/239338-installed-new-vp44-running-like-crap-again-help.html
  2. Funny my engine don't have an apps on it? But my TPS has about 8 wires on it.
  3. I guess back then, the under powered, hard starting diesel could not compete with a smooth running V-8 or I-6 gasser. "High compression, 6 volt battery, hard starting, doggy, noisy, vibration, smelly." Just too bad the politicians is the US still believe this to be true today? Now they have advanced more in the last 15 years then the gassers. But they always have their heads in the sand, and hands in the pockets of the industry and Arabs that want us to continue to drive inefficient gasoline vehicles.
  4. He sounds like a true hockey player
  5. And I never plugged in a block heater since the age of diesel electronics, I am not even sure if they would work if I did plug them in? So for sure with electronic every thing has been optimized.
  6. Seems like the PF7777 is the older style? http://www.baldwinfilters.com/literature/english/8%20Service%20Engineering%20Bulletins/06_1.pdf
  7. A yahoo search of specs brings me to our friends a CF http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-powertrain/101850-baldwin-pf7777-filter-please-help.html
  8. The PF7777 is rated for light duty and the PF7977 is rated for heavy duty trucks that would burn more fuel stock. The PF7777 looks like paper by its yellow color, the PF7977 is a white synthetic fiber, and the Fleetguard FS1268 that my truck calls for is the white synthetic fiber as well. Here are the pics side by side. Could you give us a link where you got the data on those filters?
  9. Running Amsoil throughout as well, except for the tranny. It calls for 50 weight ATF that would be used in an Allison automatic. But the last time I picked up some synthetic lube at FleetPride, their own brand that is more like a gear lube, the guy at the counter said' "every one is using this in their trucks". It shifts just fine in all temps, quieted the gear box down, and it offers more lubricity then the ATF. The only drawback to that Fuller Eaton is you have to buy the fluid in 5 gallon pals, so I can get 2 changes out of it any ways. In the engine, I use the 15w 40.
  10. Thanks a bunch every one. Being in the refrigeration biz, knowing temps is very important. The warranty process is open until the pump is torn down and the failure is determined, I should know by next week, I will let you know how it all works out.
  11. Baldwin crossed the FS1268 to this part number PF7777, for heavy trucks, and Chrysler. It looks just like the Fleetguard filter. They are all the same physical size as the PF7977? http://catalog.baldwinfilter.com/
  12. I thought it was ironic that you posted this thread. But now that you know that temps. You have a guideline to use if you have any problems in the future.
  13. Good idea, you can check their mood. LOL
  14. No such thing as a Freightliner part number, because this could have been built with a lot of different engines. I just have the Fass pump, I was mainly concerned about positive fuel pressure.
  15. It is great way to check those critical temps on the VP44. That is the Achilles heal of our ISB's. I am going to check mine when summer comes and the hot weather hits. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/1266-New-VP44-the-results-are-in%21 You can use it for lots of other things too, rear differential, transmission temp, fuel temp, and alot of other things that may not have a gauge.
  16. I got it from Blue Chip, supposedly it has a 1 year unlimited warranty, and the failed VP44 is still under warranty with them (less then a year old), so of course that is where I got it.
  17. Mine take the Fleetguard FS-1268 Fuel Filter cartridges, I am not sure the Dodge has the same filter, but I can get Baldwin products at Fleetpride. So I want the 5um?
  18. Well, I got to use the Freightliner quite a bit today. Any ways she is back to full power. Enter highways from the ramp when all the cars go to the left to allow right of way and pass that big slow truck , they get quite the run for their money, I lay onto the accelerator, and they find them selves going alot faster to get around me. Also, at the bridge toll, 3 tolls wide, big blue took the lead up the grade to the bridge, left all the cars behind. It has always been a fast truck since I got it. Has some real tall gears. top speed of 85 mph at 2500 RPM governed. It has a 3.31 rear axle, and runs on 22.5 tires, so yeah it is long legged.Any ways after a 45 minute run home on the highway, I got out my infared temperature gauge and check the critical temps. Out door ambient +14 degrees, VP44 computer 50 degrees, pump body 46 degrees, fuel in tank 30 degrees, all fuel components cool to the touch. Considering the fuel tank was in a wind chill and had fuel in it at 30 degrees is a good indicator that the fuel is definitely getting good flow.Well, I am happy now, thanks for all the help and suggestions.Bob
  19. The Baldwin will pass 3x more fuel, how does it filter? I have always used OE since day one on my ISB.
  20. Nice custom bumpers guys, and I think the 16 YO has some good talent, he will go far with that.
  21. In Plumbing 3/8" OD tubing is called 1/4". So yeah the wall thickness makes it smaller, steel tubing is probably a little thinner then copper tubing?
  22. Got the VP44 swapped out today, so far so good, big blue feels like her old self again :)1/2' supply lines are next on the agenda, I have to make this pump last.
  23. I would be concerned about that, being I dont know what kind of impeller or tolerances the Fass pump has? The OEM pump seems to have big slots in the impeller, that would easily pass a chunk of crud? I would like to see the inside of one of these Fass pumps. Has any one opened one up yet?
  24. I run Amsoil in my vehicles, and yes the oil pan on my Cummins leaks a little bit, I heard over in ILD one guy took out all the bolts and put loctite on them, and supposedly stopped the leaking?
  25. I just ordered the 1/2" fuel line from Vulcan, I am going to use this filter before the pump, I like the piece of mind, that some piece of grit is not going to wipe out my new pump. https://www.vulcanperformance.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ILFF500 I know you guys like the air dog and all, but I was just looking for adequate pressure for my VP44, I am sure the 1/2" line should help with this during the fuel thickening winter temps. Even on a home oil burner, the line size goes up with distance, and lift.
