  1. The perfect setting for some Liberal ****** from the city to live out there dreams LOL. Yeah, that sounds really nice, if I were not in a business that relies 100% on phone communication, I would toss my cell in a minute. I tell you one thing, I could handle all the serenity of living in a place like that. But I give a big thumbs up to Otter, it is good to see some one that actually sticks up for his constituents. And I thought all politicians were bums. I guess he is one of the exceptions.
  2. I hope you don't get what you wish for, not that I would cause any harm. But the implants moving from other states are hurting our once normal states, cities and towns. They move in and bring their radical ideas, vote in your elections, and they don't have the same values that the locals have. They have already over ran the area I was born in, with their liberal socialist values. Any ways, I should one day, at least visit the great state of Idaho.
  3. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100317/ap_on_go_co/us_health_overhaul_states Any place I can buy a home there?
  4. I don't care for the smell of either my self, but the diesel is usually consistent and cleaner burning, because it burns all the fuel, and if it is old and burning oil due to wear, it will burn that away as well.
  5. I think number 2 home heating fuel still has sulphur in it, and it smells stronger? Not too many natural things on the earth as smelly as sulphur. Come to think about it, ever been in a place with sulphur water? I was at a car wash the other day, and when I pulled the trigger, what a smell, atomized sulphur water!
  6. On your website, I see you have a welding trailer. Maybe welding with it attached is causing a problem? I am not the one to know that, I would talk with other people in your trade. I don't think it matters, engine running or off, you can still zap the components.
  7. I already cut the new line and made a permanent repair, I can not take any recourse now. I bought it from Cummins Northeast.
  8. I think the spike from the welder, actually goes through the negative of the battery to the positive side and spikes the system. You also have EMF if you are welding near a wire for something as simple as lighting, it can get back to the computer and fry things. One of the posts from my search, said that alot of heavy trucks and equipment will have stickers right on the frame, warning the welder to disconnect the battery negative, and keep the ground local to the welding area. It seems as all Jl's VP failures have been computer related?
  9. I see you are a welder, just curious, do you weld alot of accessories to your truck? I read in one of my owners manuals for my Freightliner a warning about welding on trucks with computers in them. Think about it, have you electrically welded something to your truck following each VP replacement? While I was at it I did a search for you: http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/communities/mboard/archive/index.php/t-8714.html http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=my-myy&p=disconnect+battery+before+welding+truck+with+computer&SpellState=n-3531376294_q-FD59OLvh1FBxbl.W5RLPWAAAAA%40%40&fr2=sp-qrw-corr-top This could be your problem?
  10. Looks like number 1, and broke just right of the arrow, where the steel tube is pressed in. It actually connects to line 2, on my truck it is a 3 or 4 inch tube with a braided connect, it is fasted to a bracket to the right, that goes to the banjo tube, that contiues to the tee in the back of the engine. Tube number 14 in the pdf.
  11. Well, they never even got back to me, yet they like to send spam to me now LOL. I was thinking try and get a used one on Flea bay, I could always sell it, if it don't work. My engine and truck was built in early 2000 although it is a 2001 MY. ---------- Post added at 04:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ---------- I did find the triangle shaped plug that is filled with a red plastic substance, it was more in the mid rear position of the engine on the drivers side near the fuel filter. I did not get a good look at the map sensor yet, but I think the 2000-2001 comp would work? (from the edge install manual) Data Link Connection 14.The Data Link connector is located in different locations based on the year of the truck: - 98.5-99 the triangle shaped connector is located on the drivers side of the engine in the wiring harness near the power steering pump - 2000-2001 the three prong flat connector is located on top of the fuel lift pump that is located on the driver’s side of the engine directly below the MAP sensor, note: on some 2001 truck’s the connector is located on the drivers side of the engine in the wiring harness near the power steering pump 15.A plug is installed in the data link connector on the truck to resist corrosion, remove this and install the supplied connector. Boost
  12. Did it look like #14 in the illustration?14..pdf
  13. Well the Cummins dealer sent me a fax, with the same one as mine, then he said it was a different part number, he did not have it in stock, and it was shipped from another branch, and I guess that is where the error happened? Oh well, it is just fine as it is.
  14. Pretty cool, I would hate to be in its path if it were to run away like a Prius? Then again it is made it USA:thumbup2:
  15. Sounds like you should go with the P-Pump?
  16. Wish you luck with it, that fuel system is the Achilles heal of these engines. Blue Chip warranted mine after 8 months, but it would have been voided if.1 If the wire on top was nicked or tapped2 if the diaphragm was ruptured 3 Rust or water in the fuel.Sounds like you most likely have a dead computer on top.
  17. The diamond plate is a little, rough, I am gonna pull it out one day when I get time, and make the edges a little smoother. that diamond plate was thick and hard to work with, the space I put it in was very limited. Did you notice the idle pressure is 21, it hit 25 today. ---------- Post added at 07:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:21 PM ---------- Hey Cummins, is that pic in your avitar your truck? Is it one of those kits that you put on a pick up chassis? I think it looks cool, the classic Pete was always my favorite truck. ---------- Post added 03-10-2010 at 05:59 PM ---------- Previous post was 03-09-2010 at 07:02 PM ---------- Yes, button at the bottom to toggle, or 3 pushes makes it alternate every 30 seconds. Only thing that sucks is the minimum temp is 390, as you can see it is reading 39 x10. BTW, I hope you have some sort of fuel pressure gauge if you are running an ISB? Other wise it is Russian Roulette with the VP
  18. Today I had to do a repair to my fuel return line coming off of the VP at the pressure regulating banjo. The steel tube cracked where it is pressed into the banjo. I was 40 miles away from home, luckily I had an old washing machine hose, and some SS clamps in the truck. Made the repair and ordered the new part over night from Cummins. I pulled in, and smelled fuel, the customer standing out side my truck confirmed this I am sure it happened from replacing the VP 44 2 times in a year, it did bend as I turned out the banjo bolt that last time, as I recall. ---------- Post added 03-10-2010 at 11:56 AM ---------- Previous post was 03-09-2010 at 05:27 PM ---------- Of course Cummins had to send the wrong part, it did how ever have the correct banjo for the 18MM bolt. So I bought same 5/16 compression unions, got out my tubing cutter and bender, and made it work. Now I feel I am ready for the 160 miles I have to go tomorrow.
  19. I made up my mind, I installed the Glow Shift Blue LED Gauges. I had the first fuel sender go flaky in a weeks time even with the needle valve cracked. So I got a new one from GS and they told me to buy this snubber http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATM-3279/. So now I have the needle valve and the snubber. Here are some pics, combo EGT and boost on left, and Fuel pressure on right.
  20. They never got back to me, and thinking about it, this is a work vehicle, and a little light in the rear, and top heavy as well, so maybe I will just leave it stock for safeties sake.
  21. I hope he had a snorkel for the trannies and differential?
  22. I always felt his goal was to destroy America, just more proof.
  23. Since I started this thread, I say "Hell Yeah" He should run. How else are we gonna control the progressives on both sides? By putting another one in the white house? As far as the dislikes, is there any one that was agreeable 100%. As far as BO might win again because of a party split, it takes alot of sacrifice to achieve the important things. When you think about all the people that died for this country, I bet they wish they were still alive, even if it meant living through a second term of BO. America is ripe for a 3rd party.

  25. I emailed them an inquiry on my truck and engine. I will let you know the results. Thanks Bob
