  1. Financing a commercial truck is a lot like taking out a business loan it can get a little complex but doable. As in like everything else good credit is a must or your just going to have to pay a bigger down payment and higher interest rates. I'm sure most large truck finance company are going to be the same as to what they require like proof of a legit business like a LLC or a corporation, if you already have this it shouldn't be a problem, if not you will probably have to have a well written business plan and even a back up plan on top that. Also proof of insurance will be required at the time of loan. Most finance company's like to run on short term loans like 3-5 years, and depending on how much truck you need that could put your monthly payment into the 1-2 thousand dollar range. Age of truck is also a big factor, anything over 10-12 years and 750,000 miles your probably better off looking at other options to pay for it. Depreciation value plays a big factor, and with the miles you can rack up in a semi they depreciate fast.
  2. Caution... Wal mart sells el cheapo bottom of the line Fram oil filters. that I wouldn't trust on my lawn mower rather than put my 24v. at risk. No matter where you change your oil or what you use make sure you have a quality oil filter like fleet guard, mopar or even a Donaldson on hand. Oil filters are no place to save a few bucks weather its for convienence or quality.
  3. Motor off with a pencil magnet was my preferred method, although all will get the job done . just make sure you have a new or well trusted drill bit.
  4. dang, that's about what I average on the big rig, I see frequent oil changes on your agenda.......
  5. I would not run over 900 degree max, maybe 6-700 cruising under heavy load . you should be about 300 degree difference between pre and post probe.
  6. I need to do this this too, looking forward to a write up
  7. those are some good deals on solar systems. When I was shopping for mine I went to a local RV solar specialist and he quoted me about 2000 dollars for the system I wanted. that was just a 100w. System complete with charger, inverter, a group of 6v. Batteries and everything needed to install it. I'm sure the quality was thier but not being a full time boondocker I just couldn't spend that much on one. I will have to update my installing solar on RV thread, when I get everything situated, probably got around 6-700 dollars invested in it including the batteries but really happy with it.
  8. http://www.skf.com/binary/30-283852/TT08_021.pdf Here is another link from speedi sleeve, a thin coat of loctite between sleeve and crank would probably aid in sealing
  9. It's been a while but I don't remember using any kind of sealant on the crankshaft, or seal Just cleaned real good with emery cloth. The sleeve is such a tight fit you need to press it on, I remember using a block of wood and hammer to get it started and then used the crankshaft bolt and washer to drive it the rest of the way. Of course I did it with radiator in so tapping it in all the way with a hammer and wood would have been difficult. I got the speedi sleeve kit through Cummins and it came with sleeve and seal to match along with some handy tools to help ease install, Thier is some write ups and old archived threads here that might help too.
  10. If it's questionable I would speedi sleeve, just to be sure your not doing it again. I did the speedi sleeve about 5 years and 100 k miles ago and holding up well.
  11. Nice to see, here is to many more miles on the od.
  12. The only thing I could tell you is you got to harvest them quick, like when they are solid white, no browning or yellowing. Usually found in grassy land or in with the cottonwood and aspen trees, with those we usually get chanterelles too. usually found in the darker timber though. My friends are a lot more experienced than I on identifying them so I usually hit them up first before I go harvesting and eating them.
  13. Yep delicious, I get the giant puff balls around here, some of them can be up to 8" in diameter, you got to get them while fresh, I like to slice them in about 1/4 slices, sauté and cook em on a cast iron skillet.
  14. To help program self driving vehicles in general.
  15. You really should go visit RV dealers and do walk through s of both, just to get a feel and check out different floor plans, I would just not get carried away with all the glamour and glitz and a lot of unnessesary stuff they put on these days
  16. Glad you got it figured out, chaulk another one up for the longevity of the old raptor 100. As far as damage to the vp, I've heard even though they don't need or like it, they can handle the high psi. as long as it wasn't for to long .
  17. I like the way the professor portrayed his message in the video, I may have to forward this to my daughter who is just finishing up her sophomore year at Colorado State, trying to figure out her piece of the American dream, I just turned 50 years old a couple months ago and have been pondering with this issue myself, As far as putting it into a word I would have to call it *self sufficient* In 5 more years I will be eligible for an early retirement, after 25 years with this outfit, and I'm probably going to jump on it, and spend the remainder of my working life working for myself, I will probably have to work twice the hours and make half the money at first, but at least I will be doing what I want and not relying on that check from corporate headquarters monthly.
  18. Nice, looks like a quality paint job. Be careful throwing that firewood in thier.
  19. Dang... other than checking connections , relays and grounds I wouldn't know how to further diagnose the ecm.. when getting the no start are you developing fuel pressure? Is lift pump comming on?
  20. PO1694 code points to an electrical problem, no communication between ecm and pcm. I had a similar issue awhile back. Check your main plug in the PDC fuse box under hood, Mine was a little loose causing the code, I cleaned and resealed the connection and code has not returned. Hope this helps, might get you going in the right direction at least
  21. If it's 3/4 then replace with the same thickness, No reason you can't replace using osb and seal it, 3/4 marine grade plywood would be an expensive option , but regardless what you use, you need to have the source of the leak fixed, and then even osb should hold up fine. Just wondering, where did that leak start from?
  22. OK here is what I got on the DAP Harness, on the bottom the white wires are on pin 30 going to each bulb. then the black on the top is pin 87 and that's the power coming from battery. Then the yellow is pin 85 and red is 86
  23. Anybody got a wire diagram for the sportheadlight conversion harness DAP sells, I found this diagram but not sure if its wired the same as the one from DAP. I would think it would be the same layout, not sure though. I do know that the pins on my headlight plugs need changed because they are both for 9004 bulbs and the lights come with 9004 and 9007 bulbs, that's an easy fix, but on mine the relay plugs they both have pin 87 wired on the power in side and pin 31 wired on the power out going to the bulbs?? doesn't make since, For a 150 dollar harness, I really dont think I need to be changing wires around but I would like to get this figured out before I take the next step. here is the diagram I am using for reference Dodge Ram Sport Headlight Conversion.pdf
  24. I agree with you, I wish you luck on building your own, I was in a hurry so I went this route,
  25. Nice truck, I'm sure you can preserve it well Being in the trucking industry I've drove a few of the engines you got listed. I'm currently pushing a Detroit as my daily driver, not the biggest power plant out thier and a little underpowered for what I do but reliable and gets the job done, at least I get paid by the hour Lol!
