I had a balance weight fly off a new pressure plate and fly through the bell housing years ago, right after we fired the car up. After that I usually added an extra tack weld to them. Local parts store stood behind it, but still had to tear it apart to replace. Pre-install inspection is a really good idea.

I see used name brand drills at pawn shop for cheap. You can try before you buy. I bought a used Skil 1/2" drill a few years ago for $35. Works great.

I have used 3m super weatherstrip adhesive on other vehicles. Especially where screws go into metal u-nuts. It doesn't harden and sticks very well. May work on plastic.
