  1. Gota shoot at it one more time, replacing the injectors and cross over tubes. Injectors been rebuilt twice I know of and cross over tubes where used. Just putting new parts to be sure, cant hurt. I found a fairly new ecm out of a 02 5 speed. Going to keep for a back up just incase, just incase that's not it either.lol
  2. I been building heat sheilds for all the trucks around here. 01-02's I will try to post pics tomorrow.
  3. Yea I heard cooler egt's due to honing and diff. spray pattern.
  4. Anyone running dynamite 50 hp injectors or know anything about them.
  5. Went with the standard replacement. I can tell you this there is a definete differance in the pumps that I have replaced in the past. When I started the truck with Blue Chip pump I said to my self I fixed it you could here that much differance. But guess what it still ain't fixed, still surge's. So onward to the injectors and cross over tubes. Oh Michael, and I bought a used ecm just encase it's not fuel related.lol Going with Dynamite 50hp injectors and new cross over tubes.
  6. Sorry folks I been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out whats wrong with my truck, have not been hanging around much. Ohhhh so thats what that red think in the top of the screen is. It tells you when someone leaves a message. hahahahaIf you still need the wrench I can fix you up.
  7. Went from 47 jets to 55 and lower it a little but need to go to 60 and I think we would have it. Michael I used to wrench on Hondas back in the late 70's when the gold wing first came out but that was a long time ago. Try putting richer jets in the head that was milled. maybe
  8. Your right who knows thats the question. You know if we can put a man on the moon, well some say we didnt, looks like someone could fix this. Here is the real kicker, you say to your self ECM but the problem there is it dont control squat when it comes to the symptoms your having. I almost bought new inj. just because it is the cheapest thing to do. It does have a slite miss, not a miss but random flutter I guess you could call it.
  9. Well I have done everything I think possiable, it has come down to bitting the bullet and buy a vp from Blue Chip Diesel. The people I have been dealing with rebuild junk. I have learned a lot about the famous vp junk in a bucket. More is being revealed day by day as our trucks get age on them. He is going to give me a fair deal I think, he says if the pump does not fix my problem just box it back up and send it back for full refund. Here is some hind site for ya, if you lose two pumps and they are not in warranty your expense just cost you what it would if you had ppumped it to start with. The chance of you going thru two pumps is highly likely. I know somebody is going to post I have half a million miles on mine and I will tell you I been thru 3 in 5 mounths and a total of 5 pumps all together.Anyway the biggest thing I learned is no one out here knows crap about the vp and its posiable symptoms, you can here all sorts of problems. The only way to monitor what is going on with it is thru voltage in the wire blue with red strip. Now find someone that has the experince in doing that and wont charge you both arms and a leg. You may say try somebody that is not so expensive, well when you been thru as many as I have shopping is not high on my list anymore. I can tell you this, my son and I make a real good tag team when it comes to changing a pump.lol
  10. Did all that but compression test. New rad. 3 new stats, waterpump, cap, pressure test, timing, points. The plugs are whiter now than they where when we put them in.lol Running lean. Putting jets tomorrow.
  11. My truck made a weird sound on the passanger side and it turned out to be the exhaust pipe vib on the bell housing bolt and rubbing the frame, made for a super strange sound.
  12. Went over it with a can of starting fluid and no carb leaks or manifold leaks, no brake boost leaks. The gov. had butter flys in it and when at crusing speed they acted as a choke flap would, why I dont know. In 73 I was 14 and I just baerly got in to wrenching at that time but that is what I remember. Like I said before they thru the parts away due to destroy them to get it out.
  13. jlwelding posted a topic in Ford
I got lucky and was volnteared to help a buddy fix his 73 mod. cab and chassie that he found in a little small town with a three man vol. fire dept. They bought it brand new in 73 and it has 2k miles on it it's a cherry. Only problem is some wise guy thought they would do him a favor and remove the govner from throttle plate. Well it runs hot as h--- 230 and nobody knew why. So the first thing I said was where is the parts to the gov., They threw them away. lol Anyway I pulled a plug and....... you guessed it it was whiter than when they put them in. So my question is how do they measure jets? I was going to drill them out a little at a time till it is right, but need a starting point. A friend of mine found a Ford carb. (2 barrel if anyone would like to donate some jets) that has 54's in it.ThanksJoe
  14. Or if your like me hard of hearing. lol I could hear him just fine.
  15. Vp's are junk...........................I will buy it and give you 200.to boot
  16. No problem there, I was shocked how little trash is piched up and caught in my filters. I have dumped them in clean jars and there might be 1/2 dozen little pieces in there.Well I swaped vp's and there is some diff. in the two. The second pump surges a little less than the third pump. I called BD and he claims they are going to put it on his personal truck and try it out and see what it does on his truck. What do you think the verdict will be? I am just getting the run around.
  17. Your looking at pulling ball joints and everything. It not a simple job.
  18. I just got in and it's 1:00 am. Worked 9 hr today then put new set of rotors and pads on, then pulled vp and swaped the last one they sent due to the second one was a little better. That is a sad statement. Emailed Chip at Blue Chip diesel and he came back saying they have less than 2% come backs on there vp's. Does anyone here have any dealings with them?Later Man
  19. With your mods. on your truck you should see higher boost than that. My truck is is back to stock except for BHAF, 5" Exhaust, airdog, BD intake, RV275's and I see 10 psi just shifting gears and wot 23. No boost elbow pulled it out, no good with out programmer. But my truck weighs a lot, loaded9k easy.Check your boost boots, the driver side down by the fender will usually be the first to go.
  20. No..... I got the overflow valvue just to be sure I have flow going back to tank. I was afraid of the old one because how old it was.
  21. I will have to mail it, I dont know why but cant get it on there.
  22. I got the draw straw from Airdog and the overflow valvue from somewhere, but I also had the ecm reflashed for the surging problem I have been having. Anyway here is a bit of info, my exhaust temp was high after the draw straw replacement, or the overflow valvue I dont know which caused the high temp, or ecm flash but after driving a while now everything is back to normal. Go figure, I dont know what that was all about. I could leave truck idle and temp would not come down, normal before it woud come down to 250 in about 2-3 min. but after all the work it would stay up around 350 at idle and hwy speed it was running 800-850 at 62mph.But here I go again with new info after the fuel pressure increase, I have a slite miss now that was not there before, I say it wasnt, not sure because I never have liked the way it idles, made a sound that just didnt sound solid if that makes sence. There is something going on here because everytime I do something it responds a little diff. Michael I am makeing a new video to send to you and BD. I know your over thrilled with joy about that. But this truck will be knowen state wide one day, I dont think that sounded right ,did it. It should be a bad thing. lol
  23. Ok as usual Michael hit it on the money again, don't get your hopes up just yet, it didn't fix the real problem (surge). But we now have 17 psi on fuel gauge. Went from 12.75 to 17 at idle, wot 15.25 on a airdog 100 with a 150 draw straw. Speaking of surge would injectors cause that or not?The .740 had to be brought down to .690. I could feel the washer line up as I screwed fitting in with fingers. It then went smooth all the way till tight.
  24. Dont ask me what we did, all I know is we vac. the system and put what it called for and presto. When it blew it took out everything, comp, valvue, evap. Right at 800.00 in parts a labor.
