best fuel filter
- who knows the nv5600
BlueOx i wouldnt say you have been overuled but from what i've seen typically a worn out plastic bushing on the shift tower gives you a sloppy tower but wont let it pop out of gear. Now i now the the NV4500 is a different animal from the NV5600 but my NV4500 was falling out of 5th when the tranny was unloaded come to find out the slip collar was wore out. just my boss.- Posi Lock Cable
i've heard of several folks doin this swap because the 271 is a stronger tcase but you never hear about the vacuum switch side of the swap.- Rear end locker
i think the 4.10's would be a good gear for what you do, just remember that you will be higher in the rpm's at highway speeds. as far as a locker for the rear it just depends on what you are looking for because a Detroit locker is very strong and very aggressive, where as a lock right is still pretty strong but not as aggressive and it will unlock under a pretty good load.- Howdy from western NY
welcome it sounds like you have got just a bit of understanding and experience working with these engines. good to have ya on board.- 3,000 or 7,500
so tell me then 7500 miles is factory recommendation?- 3,000 or 7,500
so me changing my oil and filter at 3k is a waste of time and money! i dunno i think i agree with Dually it has been engrained in my mind for my entire life that 3k is time for fresh oil.- best fuel filter
AH where do you find the specs of a filter? I cant find anything or Im just not looking in the right places on either of these filters? I would like to see if the P550550 is a match then I can order both fuel filters and a donaldson oil filter from the same place. thank you- Posi Lock Cable
OK an update to this post I was completely committed to purchasing this kit but I got a couple of free hours this morning and went out to the ol pick and started jacking with it. What I found was the NV271 tcase that I am running has the vacuum switch out of the original 241 case in it. I am certain that either the switch is bad or the 271 does not have the internals to make contact with the switch. So i bypassed the vacuum switch and I now have 4WD. So I'm going to run it this way at least until spring when I can actually get under the truck without snow on the ground and fix it properly.- who knows the nv5600
i couldnt agree with W&F more!!! the best thing to do is just save your cash and get it rebuilt.- Lock N Stitch
well im glad to hear that you've got an engine now JL (or at least on the way)! but that sucks that you had to pay so much for one but at least it'll be new!!!- As The JL Welding World Turns

CONGRATS!!!! Glad to hear and i bet your glad to have it back! let us know if that shift tower helps out.- As The JL Welding World Turns
I've heard that the lock n stitch doesnt work all that well but I've only read that on CF, so take it for what its worth. I can look around up here but I dont know what the shipping would cost or who you would go through. But i'll give it a look see.- As The JL Welding World Turns
