Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
I am seeing the The ELF7349 is replaced by the DBL7349. Same filter or is it different in any big way? I see it on Donaldson's site listed as the DBL with ELF in parentheses. so I am assuming it is the same.

The sealing washer wont work on the tee. Change out the the washers on the head and see if that stops the hard starting. The tee might be ok since you tightened it.- Hydroboost replacement
While Cardone is not the first choice of a lot of folks, i have used things from them over the years and not really had any constant problems from their products. I replaced my wifes rack and pinion on her Dakota with a Cardone unit several months ago mainly because they had the best warranty of the other two choices, about double the two other brands with a lower price. She totaled the truck about 2 months later and I never had to test the warranty. If that is the only thing available I would probably buy it, Though if I had time, I would most likely try and rebuild myself. Faced with time constraints I would have to go the route you are going. I personally Dont know what else is out there.- Neat machine that creates music with 2,000 steel marbles!
That is pretty slick and it is made and out of wood.- Longer cranking...
Dont forget the line on the back of the head. The rubber on it gets hard. When I took mine of it looked and felt like a plain washer the rubber was so hard.- Longer cranking...
I bought mine from a diesel repair place that sold Cummins parts somewhere in Tennessee. The part # is 04429451. A quick search turned them up but would appear that they do want $11.50 for one of them. I dont remember paying the much for mine but it was about 7 years ago. But I do usually remember when I pay way to much for something and that price seems excessive considering what the part is. If you could figure out the OD and ID you could make one I would think. It is just a piece of tubing that acts like a compression sleeve. As far as the install, it is just a pain to get to. Contortionism and some profanity are required skills. How much of either is up to the installer.- Longer cranking...
I dont think I paid that much for the pack of 3. Pretty sure it was Cummins part i bought.- NV4500 fluid no longer produced.
Price and availability is another big consideration for sure. It still kills me to pay $8 a quart for Synchromesh. But I can still buy that off the shelf whenever I need some.- NV4500 fluid no longer produced.
I dont think you missed anything. You just happen to be the first Amsoil user to speak up. While I dont use it, it sounds like a great product though not great enough for me to change my Dino ways. I was wondering where all you Amsoil guys were because I remember some of the discussions we had here in the past. Not sure we had any coverts either way from those.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
Well, live and learn. Thanks.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
Not knowing the direction on oil flow from the pump, my guess is the sensor sees the oil flow before the filter. and would never know the air passed thru the system.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
I get my truck up to temp before changing. It only takes 30 to 45 minutes to change the oil. How much lube can you loose in that time period to make any difference in starting with the filter empty?- guage steel
I dont know what gauge the metal is, I do know you can get small squares of light gauge stuff at Lowes and maybe HD in the hardware section. Probably not the most economical but handy.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
Cant say how close I watch when I fill it. I would like to think I would see a piece of foil or a rat turd, but who knows. Been doing it for so long with out any problems. Might be why I lost a valve in number 10 on my 96. Not sure what happened, just know a valve dropped thru the #10 piston. Never experience an engine failure other that that. Of course that failure occurred right after having my oil changed at a pep boys. Always wondered how you ingested that clamp. With all the talk we have had about oil filters it reminded me I needed some fuel filters. So I looked for the DBL 7349. After seeing it for $16 to $22 I got a little discouraged. Then I found them for $11.64 here http://www.filterspro.com/detail_2.cfm?part=2679703. I keep thing some one posted this link before, not sure.- Because, Roadkill. If you like wrenching for the sake of wrenching, come on in.
Not sure my limbs would survive the learning curve.- Pyrometers install
I installed a new pyrometer gauge about a year ago. The gauge came with a new probe and I installed it into the old fitting from my Banks install 9 years ago. I dont think you will have any problems with your existing one.- Power Steering (hydroboost)
I would like to double that thank you. I have walked away more educated.- Dodged the bullet???
Good luck!!- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
At the risk of creating havoc, I have pretty much always filled mine thru whatever hole it wants to go in. I am careful with the foil seal and remove the entire seal before pouring. I have filled them this way all my life. Just my .- Advantage of Draw straw?
I have put very close to 35 gallons on a fill up, stretching the tank a little far. I modified my in tank pump basket with a kit that came with my AD. It has worked flawlessly for the past 6 years or so.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
I am definitely not a hot shotter. I do get alot of mixed driving and idling in the winter time. The closer I get to home the more miles I rack up since I go home every chance I have. Right now I putting about 700 a week on. About half is interstate the other half around town and back thru the mountains to get home. Seeing a good mix where I am now. I have been waiting for that to happen.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
In the winter I will start mine and let run a minute or so with the exhaust brake on then just idle it out of the rv park to the highway and drive. I take pretty easy until the temps get up 120 or 140 and then I am gone. And Leather, I too ran a K&N for quite while before changing over to the BHAF.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
That truck was on one long road trip its entire life hauling boats here there and everywhere.- Opinions on Amsoil and bypass filtration.
As i remember he ran Dino oil but would not know what filter. Not sure what OCI means. I a sure someone will enlighten me. I dont believe he ever opened the engine. I have add that I appreciate the research that our members have put in on filtration here. I have learned alot from them and do use filters they have come up with unless I am in need of something off the shelf. - Longer cranking...
