  1. I you have questions and a camera, take pictures. Sometimes it makes asking the question easier when all can see it.
  2. My waste gate opens at 33psi; When my tuner went out the engine defueled at about 20 psi. It was a pain to pass anyone. Had to roll into the throttle and keep the boost at or below 20 to pass any one. A real PITA.
  3. It probably was not helping anything. I know my PCM has a wire from the case to the fire wall. I did not add it, it came on the truck when new, I need to look at a wiring diagram but not tonight. It is nice to have it working right again,
  4. No, just the bang You are right, You win a cupie doll. You are wrong. See Mike for a cupie doll. I here he has one now.
  5. could be. i have never had any trouble out of it until the other day. I very seldom need to use it. It sure made me jump this morning though. I will have to look into it this weekend.
  6. Got me too. Definitely not a rock or someone trying to get out of the bed. This was solid, like hitting the frame or axle tube. The other week I had to put it 4 wd and it popped out, happened twice. I need to adjust the sifter. That was the first time I had used since the clutch install. This was very similar sound but louder like something broke or snapped. I put it in 4wd while in the C store parking lot where I stopped. The light lit up and the truck moved. Can something in the CAD have maybe snapped? The sound sure seemed to come from that area. Definitely metal on metal.
  7. I took off for work this am driving down a 4 lane. had backed out of the throttle and when I eased back in heard a loud bang. Almost like some hit the axle or frame with a 5# hammer. Thought for sure i had broken something, not convinced have not yet. I pulled into the convenience store for coffee and get out and do a walk around. Nothing hanging of the truck, no fluid leaking, gauges all reading good just nothing visibly wrong. The bang seemed to come from the passenger side of the front axle best I can tell. Just not sure. I drove 40 miles to work on the interstate, no issues. Drove 40 miles back plus all around the job, nothing out of the ordinary. If I ran over something there was no sensation of it, just a loud bang like something let go. Any ideas?
  8. I had the same problem the other day. I did not enter the my address myself it was just there as always but still would not let me go any further. I have not tried it again however.
  9. Please do keep us posted. From talking to Cory last night you got a great deal on the truck even with the bad VP and ECM. The VP will get you going and you can save for the ECM. Might make it a little less painful.
  10. Several months ago I had the P122 with a cel. As it progressed I started experiencing engine surging. At first only 1, 2, maybe 3% as shown on my scan gauge. I lived with for a little while until I had a chance to try and diagnose it some. Some of you might know how much I enjoy diagnosing electrical problems and for any who does not I think I would rather have a root canal done. Any way I had pretty much determined that it was a bad apps sensor. I had a Timbo on the truck and was not completly convinced that it was bad. So I googled "apps/tps sensor and found a boat load on ebay for any where between $12 and $90. They all had the same picture and I ended up buying one for $16 bucks. I did this mainly to test with and see what happened. So I installed it and it worked. Surging gone, and no DTC's. Since I did not really trust the cheap apps that I bought, I went ahead and ordered a new Timbo. Put the new on when got it and every thing is great for about 15 minutes and the surging returned. Kept getting the 122 code intermittently and the surge was approaching 8 and 9% on oddasion. Alternator VAC was about .03, the apps sensor voltage read OK thru the pedal range, nothing jumping around. So I put the el cheapo back in and no surging. But in a couple minutes it throws a P222 code with the CEL on. Cleared the code, started the engine and it is instantly back. I cleared several times but always came back instantly on engine start, but no surging. Idled beautifully. So I left it in and lived with the CEL lit and the code present. While it did not surge it was messing with the idle enough to disengage my E brake at times. That is the only way I could tell that it was still trying to surge. Fast forward to1 month ago while changing my oil I am looking at the ground cable from the passenger side battery to the block. Since I am in there I checked it and when I put a wrench on it the weight of the wrench turned it. So I took it off cleaned it up and reattached nice and tight. Over that past moth I started noticing the E brake is working all the time. So this past weekend I reinstalled the old Timbo apps and all is working as it should. No surging, cleared the 222 code with no return And have not seen the 122 code come back either. So I am assuming that ground is associated with the apps ? I have not tried to figure that part out on wiring diagram. I do appreciate all the advice I get from y'all but knew if I had asked when the problem arose I was not in a position to use the advice for a while and just rode it out till I got lucky Seems that ground did solve my problem. Stupid grounds. Too darn many to keep up with.
  11. Glad to hear that went well. Maybe you should have put them back in Auto Zone box.
  12. Glad you did not have to pull the tranny. Let us know how your visit with napa goes.
  13. If you are starting the truck just start it, no need to wait on the fuel pump. I live in NC so you are about smack dab in the middle of us. I thought maybe ya'll traveled away from home for work. I do and am in VA at the moment not to far from home. I built a Waffle House just outside.Little Rock about 15 years ago. It would be good to get some eyes on what you are dealing with. I guess I ought to put my pin there. But I am usually not here but every weekend or two, I guess I could just keep moving or can I have 2 pins at one time. Work and home.
  14. The loves I am building costs somewhere around 6 million dollars, our contract. A good bit of infrastructure and road improvements. I cant imagined whole cities. There is no price on the lives destroyed and whole generations that have had to live with it. Words seem so small in comparison. I dont know how to express my self about it. You could take some of the nastiest in this country and throw them into the middle of whats going on and they wont last 2 days. The better standing 2 minutes. The savagery is incomprehensable.
  15. The sad thing is the father in that picture possibly grown up just like the 2 children. My heart goes out to the innocents because the others are savages.
  16. If you mean to start the, just turn the key and start it. If you mean to reprime the system after you install the pump run it until you get fuel to the VP. Loosen the inlet line on the VP and you can tell when it gets there. The bad thing about the pump wired like it is to run at key on is if you have a wreck and rupture a fuel line the pump will keep running and pumping fuel until the key is turned off. When the ECM controls the pump it shuts the circuit down when it sees the engine stop. Where are ya'll by the way?
  17. I have the 9260C. Had for 4 years or more. The one that came with the rv went whacky and cooked my battery. I only run 1 12v deep cycle since mine is plugged in all the time. I seem to remember the pendant thingy but did not get one. I was not so concerned ant the time of what is was doing. I guess I am trusting the automatic feature. It has maintained the battery extremely well. Not sure that I have even added any water to it in all this time.
  18. I had actually read your post here first and then saw on CF, so I did not read it all including any codes you posted. I figured reading here was enough. I am assuming that one of the codes was the 216. The "Death Code" as many say. While it is not good to have it can be survivable. How long is any bodies guess. 1 week one year, you just dont know, The new fuel pump is a first step. I would also go to Walmart and buy some TCW3 2 cycle oil and get some in the fuel. A one gallon jug is about 12 bucks.1 oz per gallon is a good ratio though 2 per gallon to start with would not hurt anything and it will get some lube to the VP. Dont drive if can help unless you have no other choice. does the pump thats on there now run all the time the key is in the on position?
  19. Looks like the camera learned that lesson. Just read about a rock slide on I 75 in northern Tenn, It has had the highway shut down for a week or so. Due to the mountain still moving they said, it will be closed a while longer. I always see the signs " watch for falling rocks" along the highways and interstates thru the mountains. Occasionally see a fresh pile on the shoulder. Always makes me wonder when I am going to time it wrong and be there for the rocks falling.
  20. Well live and learn. I smell a new name coming on. By the way Mikey, that photo looks like command central. Ya'll be careful up there.
  21. Leaky return lines can cause hard starting but it usually has to sit a while for that to happen. The leaks let air into the line draining the fuel from the system back to the tank. Have you got good fuel like you describe to more than one injector?
  22. The codes would be helpful. I read your post on CF and understand what you are saying about posting them but they do help. Sometimes they point right at something and other times they lead on a chase like tracking prey thru the woods.
  23. I understand financial limitations and we can most likely get you up and running without a new one to give you time to save up. We all go thru it ourselves at times. The tricky part is we don't exactly know what we are dealing with. The PO seems to have cobbled some stuff together. So patience is in order until we can figure it out. Let us know what you find in the tank.
  24. I got mine from Cummins thru a mechanic including programming for $1400. The in tank was dodges answer to the crappy stock pump. If it is in there it could be causing fuel starvation. It might be worth dropping the tank to see if it is there or something else is blocking fuel flow. You might also try driving with the fuel cap loosened and see if maybe the vent is blocked. The loose cap will allow air into the tank if it is blocked.
  25. I have been able to help in some situations in the. I do agree with WF on evaluating the situation so you don't end up laying there yourself in need of attention. The blood born stuff is whole different subject. If somebody is bleeding bad I am going to help but it is on your mind.
