  1. Gasser is right on with the above. My second one should have died long before I replaced it. It is a mechanical device and you just never know. Thats probably why you cant get more thatn a 12 month warranty.
  2. The oe went out at 75k and Dodge replaced it under warranty. The oe lift pump went out at 145k. Dodge replaced it with an intank pump to the tune of $900+. Started having trouble with dead pedal and bucking at 165k. Toook it to a shop and found out the intank pump was putting out 0.5 psi at wot. Installed a booster pump on the frame rail and got the pressure up to 17 idle and 12 at wot. This almost eliminated the dead pedal and bucking. It was not until another year had passed after this that I started learning about how important fuel pressure is to these vehicles. I spent another year learning and saw the truoble I was in. By then I was having dead pedal and bucking again so I replaced the VP and installed an AD 220k. There is the history. I was very luck my second pump lasted as long as it did. It was still running when I replaced it, but I figured it was going to leave me stranded one day so out she went.
  3. Is that is the sticker you are seeing? This is the 3rd pump in my truck. I believe most folks have lost theirs, but mine is still there. Are you having any problems with yours?
  4. I forgot that he does sell rebuilt rv275's also. The ones I was speaking of are new ones.
  5. Maybe you ought to get the 01 bronzed and hang it next to the baby shoes. Good luck with the 06 and let us know how that works out.
  6. I am not sure I could pull the Asville grade at 20 unless I dropped to 4th. Pretty sure I run near 30 in 5th for most of it. I could slow to 45 in 4th and accomplish that I think, I just never thought it would hut it in 5th at 30 psi for that 6 miles. You must be on vacation. I dont think I have seen this many post from you in the past year, much less the past 2 weeks. How many mile on the 53 do you have now?
  7. Just be sure I understand what your are saying. Towing at 30 psi constant is the enemy but is ok climbing grades for a few miles and the level off to 10 or 15 psi with a heavy load. When i cross the mountains on I40 towards Tenn I see 30+ for the grade to Ashville, then level off to 10 or 15 psi except for a few areas on the way to Knoxville. Or shoud I baby it more pulling the hard grades?
  8. Bosch rv275's are the same anywhere as long as they are Bosch. no matter where you get them. Price should be the only differance.
  9. Try reading this. It shows disc but the process is still the same. You are just bleeding thru the whell cylinders instead of calipers.http://articles.mopar1973man.com/general-cummins/33-brake-system/78-brake-fluid-change
  10. I installed a 190* from Car Quest this morning. The salesman could not tell who manufactured it. Made in the USA was stamped on it. Compared to the one I just took out, it was of much stouter construction. The old one did not have the jiggle pins in it and it worked in a range of 170 to 189 fluctuating constatly. The new got to near 185 before it fell of to 170 and fluctuated all the way to work. I exited the interstate and stopped at a light 30 seconds later and watched it fall to 165 from 180. This is how the old one worked until last week. The temps on it started running 155 to 175, but mostly in the lower range. There is definately something else going on here. I have had tstats fail open and the engine just runs cold, stuck closed and it runs hot. Never like what I am seeing now. When I am towing the temp is up maybe 4 or 5 degrees but still swings, although little slower.I could see the fan clutch affecting cooling if it is locked up, but I still hear mine come on and off. iIt is a very unmistakeable sound. But mine does not freewheel like Mikes. If i get a wild hair this pm I might just take the fan off and see what happens on the way home. I dont realy dont want to throw a $100+ part at it just to test it.
  11. The same problem we discussed on CF. Wild swinging of temps. I am now on my 7th tstat in 5 years. The one that was working ok crapped out, so I bought another last night. Getting ready to test it this am.
  12. I figured that out when is was typing the park idea and deleted it. hence the double dumb a__ on me.
  13. Now you are making me feel better. I almost told you to put it in park:doh:
  14. Later models maybe, my 02 says ethelene glycol, 50/50 mix with water.
  15. Factory Service Manual. It is in the download section. Covers the truck hands down better than a Haynes or a Chiltons. I got a haynes but not with me.
  16. I routed mine from the basket towards the out side of the framerail and forward, crossing back over to the AD. I strapped them to the underside of the bed. It worked out good, but had sme cafing concerns. I put wire looom around the lines where they might chafe and will just keep an eye on them for a while. I dont want to endup on the side of the road pumping fuel on the ground instead of in the engine. Id keep an eye on the one in the 5th picture it looks pretty tight.
  17. Dejavu! I have seen this somewhere before.
  18. Your are only getting the codes from one computer. Stop by a auto parts store and have them read it with a scanner. The 1693 is indicating there shoulbe at least one more in the other one. I use the key trick on my 02 and it reads both but does not always show everything. When I read mine with the key it will cylce thru any codes and say pdone. Then it will cylce thru again and say pdone a second time. If you are getting pdone once and then the regular odometer reading it is not reading them both, ecm and pcm.
  19. I know it is not locked solid because you can hear it when it engages. The noise is quite loud. It has been that way since new. Whether it engages less or more often than when new, I would be hard pressed to remember for sure. When I left for work this morning the fan was engaged and you could clearly hear it disengage about 3 minutes later. I have heard it come on a few times here in Iowa when it got into the 90's. Not often though. The FSM states if the fan free wheels more than 5 revolutions when spun by hand it needs to be replaced. This is with a COLD engine. I would be lucky if mine went 1" when spun. It seems there are many others like mine. Ther is another test for proper operation, it is a liitle to invloved to post. it is on pages 7-57 and 7-58.
  20. The 500 is the rear speed sensor. You can set that code spinning your rear wheels in gravel or what not. But since you lost your speedo it is probably the sensor. It is on top of the rear diff. YOu might try uplugging it and cleaning the connections first and eliminate that as an issue. The 1693 is just a companion code telling you there is a code stored in the other computer. Did you use a scan tool for code retrieval?
  21. I hear mine mostly on cold start up which is normal until the fluid warms in the clutch(they are viscous). I do sometimes hear it when towing in warm weather, but for the most part it is silent. But when it comes on it is quite obvious. Turbo prop is an accurate description. Mine pretty well acts pretty much as Katoom describes it. There is no way I am sticking anything in there to stop the rotation like Mike can. Mine has never been like that. I am having an overcooling problem though, maybe that has something to do with it. It seems to work like it has since new.
  22. My abs and brake light came on when one of my front wheel bearings went and the brake sensor quit reading properly. I believe the rear sensor can do it also. My manual gets the speed reading from that sensor also. Not sure about an auto. Have you checked for codes?
  23. I can hit 32 to 34 psi with my current set up at 22.5k GCW. With my old 5th wheel I coud hit the same pressure at a GCW of near 20k. I only tow about 5k a year though. I can still hit those pressures empty, flogging it hard.
  24. It appears in a couple of your pics(4th and 5th one) that the fuel line might be rubbing on parts of the truck. You might think about putting some ire loom or something on the line to keep it from chafing. I had to do that to some of mine when I installed my AD. I also have a new pick up in the basket.
  25. Glad you got her up and running. I cant add to anything Mike has added.
