Upset Facebook parent...
I am trying to picture my old mans reaction to something like that when the 5 of us were growing up. His first words would most definately would have been "Oh my achin back". What would have happened after that most definately have been politcally incorrect and had someone syaing " Take those children away from him" had it happened this day and time. He was a very forgiving man but that would have crossed a line of disrespect he would not have tolerated.

2005 Dodge Durango Stalling
Mikey, does your 96 have a distributer cap or a rotor? My 96 2500 had a block the wires tied into and it was rectangular. It was a v10 and had two. one with 6 wires and one with 4. When I get home I am going to look at the Dakota closer. But I dont think rotor and distrbuter cap are on the parts list any more.

While replacing the pump is the best option an auxillary pump will work. I ran one for over 2 years withreasonable sucess. This was befor e I learned the inportance of fuel pressure. I had the in tank pump like you and started having some small problems, a little bucking and occasional dead pedal. Took it to a shop and they pointed out my fuel pressure being very low. I added a booster pump from BD Diesel and it got my pressure up to acceptable levels. Turns out it was a Carter fuel pump sold by BD diesel. At that time I still did not how improtant it was to monitor your pressure, so I did not install a gauge. To make a long story short, if you are tight on cash, add an auxillary pump if you want to, but make a fuel pressure gauge #1 on your list. the aux will work but you need to watch the fuel pressure an keep it at least over 10# untill you can afford to go the right way. Just bear in mind a booster pump has got to cost at least $250. you ought to look at Air Dog or FASS for a suitable replacement and piece of mind. It is more upfront, but at least you could go ahead and put it behind you. The intank pump is crap.

If that doesnt work open the hood and pour some water on the wind shield and see if you can see any water dripping back into the engine compartment. the wire to the coils are more like a wiring harness than a traditional plug wire. I have never tried to trace back where they come from. I could see water effecting them more than a traditional plug wire.

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
Must be the home of the blind. I know I'm a memeber.

Weird Science...
the only beer trick I know is tapping you r bottle on top of your buddy's bottle and watching the beer shoot out of it. You know how good your buddys are if they dont throw the bottle at you.

Weird Science...
I guess that explains why bottles of water freeze in my truck, its a dodge and it bounces around to much. I never new you could get water that cold without if freezinf solid. I guess the key is it not moving, just sitting still.

1.000.000 Miles Yet???
My vp was replaced under warrnty in late 04 or early 05 and they did not replace the lift pump or at least it stayed on the block. The lift pump went about 3 years later and they put it in the tank then on my dime.

Mechanical Lift Pump
I smell a new fuel system coming on. Bust the mechanical and you have a top notch back up that comes on when the other drops out. No sitting or working on the side of the road.

Welcome. I must agree with there being no stupid questions.

Have a vp44 question
Mine starts so quick the only way i can ever see starting pressure is when repriming the vp.

nv5600 shift stick ball socket
I remeber someone else having that problem here a good while back. They called one of the vendors that sold the shift tower and they sold him just the cap that goes on the ball. It might have been BlueOx, a member here. I dont remember which vendor though.

Mechanical Lift Pump
That would be an intersting combination, almost unstoppable.

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
I am set up just like you except I installed a bigline kit http://www.vulcanperformance.com/Universal-Big-Line-Filter-to-Injection-Pump-Kit-w-p/ffip59.htm form the fuel canister to the vp. I added a push lock tapped tee for fuel prsssure access.I use the 90 with the tap to bleed the low pressure fuel system when neccesary. it Keeps my WOT at 16.5 psi.

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
Mr. Cummins I answered both questions that time. I can read again.
-
Have a vp44 question
I'm still a little baffled it wont start at 10 -12 psi, but it sounds like you are on the right track for trouble shooting. let us know what happens.

Have a vp44 question
The ECM runs the pump during starting but only at 50% to reduce the pressure to the vp. That is part of what is baffling because yotehunter's appears to be doing that and it still want start. My pressure is around 10 to 12 psi during cranking and 19 after start.Mr. Hunter, I take it wont start with or without the pump connected now.
-
Have a vp44 question
If I am reading all of that right the HO pumps came on 99.5 - 02 6 speeds and apparently some differant versions of both HO and SO.

Tryin to figure out where stock lift pump is at
Try bumping the starter without starting the engine. It should run for 25 or so seconds and you should be able to hear it running. Unless it is not wired to the ECM.
