What to do when Noob.
you are right on egt and yes if you are going to tow you ought to have that gauge also. FP EGT and Transtemp since you are an auto. Boost pressure would be good to.

What to do when Noob.
Welcome to the family here. If you are mechanicly inclined dont let a diesel scare you. they are still an internal combustion engine. Inside the block are alll the same parts. Fuel and air delivey are differant and there are no spark plugs. the basic operation is easy to grasp, just keep reading. Post the codes concerning the apps. you dont need to replace the whole apps and bellcrank assembly which is what the manual and Dodge will telll you. only the sensor needs to be replaced at less than half of what the whole assembly cost.A good lift pump needs to be looked at. Probably should be the first thing you do. then a FP gauge. it would be best to do those at the same time. Go to wally world and get some super tech 2 stroke and start using it at 1 oz. per gallon, that one is the easiest.Try to tackle one thing at a time so it does not get too complicated.

long cranking after AIRDOG INSTALL
Try this, bunp the starter and then open the drain on the fuel canister. fuel should pour out as long as the pump is running. if it is pumping like mine you will get a flood of fuel. You can also remove the line from the vp and put it in a bucket and see how it flows, but this will let some air into the vp possibly causing you to have to open some injector lines to get the fuel back to the injectors. If it is pouring out of the drain you should not have to bleed the injectors. AH and MM are very good with this kind of stuff and will help fill in any blanks I might leave out.

Auto High Idle?
I pretty much follow the same procedure as MM. Crank it up idle for 20 or 30 seconds, idle out to the highway and drive easy until I see the temp rise or the oil pressure start to drop. They pretty much go hand in hand.I have worked in -25* weather before and it sucked. That is just to cold. Anytime you have to get an air compressor and a 90# hammer to dig a ditch, it just aint right.

HELP! Airdog 165 Blows fuses!
The VP is as unhappy with to high of pressure as to low. Though low fuel pressure is tougher on its life span I believe. Some one will staighten me out if I am wrong.

Had one heck of a week "In a Good way"
I read an article in the paer the other week discussing statistics of how upset people across the country are with the way things in DC are done. It was near 70% of the people were disgusted with congress. It was also near 70% of the same people that felt their representatives were doing a good job and it was the other folks that were screwing up. If thats is how most folks look at it no wonder things are not changing. Send new folks to DC and if that doesnt work send new ones the next time. Clean them all out and start over.

long cranking after AIRDOG INSTALL
I know what you mean. I had my truck for quite a while before I knew of any of these forums. I pretty much stumbled around on my own picking up tid bits of info here and there and starting learning about the fuel pressure issues. When my ECM went out is when I starting learning about these forums and dabbling in them. I must say that the folks here at M1973M have by far been the most welcoming and helpful bunch of folks by far. :cheers:Now all of you can take a bow. And a big ahearty thanks from one greatful member. I did buy a Blue Chip pump after speaking with Chip. He is very knowledgeable about the pumps and I was convinced his was a better pump. I am not saying it isnt. I think the only way to ever know is to see how long it lasts. I am taking the same care of it as most of the folks here. Look around at some of the vendors here and talk to them. They sell good pumps to. How much better mine is than say one from DAP with a new computer is hard to say. Ther is no way I no of to compare one with the other since we dont know to what extent the pumps are built. Their are Bosch minimum standard that have to be met when rebuilding, but just how far beyond that someon takes it is an unknown, at least to me. Here is some thing to read on the subject. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/247-bosch-certified-vp44-injection-pump-rebuilders.

Dome Light
sounds like some cleaning of the fixture would help. My under hood light was doing the same thing and i cleaned it up and it helped alot, but i believe it needs more cleaning, I have to thump it every so often.

Auto High Idle?
I got married at the JP's office in Gaffney SC. Still live in Hickory NC. Iknow quite a few folks that made that trip back in my younger days. I am like you 20* is cold enough for me. But from where some of these folks are from they are gonna call us wussies.

long cranking after AIRDOG INSTALL
Welcome Jasvan, glad you came over. My AD's power also comes from the alternator to the AD relay. But another power source has to trip the realy. Thats what AH64ID is asking. My relay is fed from the alternator but the trigger comes from the oe wiring harness for the old lift pump. That harness is behind and below the fuel filter cannister. Check out the AD instructions, I believe they will show the harness and you can follow the wire from the relay to the source. Ill try and get you a picture of mine tomorrow. Is your FP gauge going to be in your hands soon? The fuel pressures would be very helpful and somewhat critical to diagnoseing the problem. The gauge would tell us whether you are connected to the ecm or an ignition source if you cant trace the wiring down.I forgot i already have a picture. Dont let the photo confues you because my filter canister is unbolted from the engine and my hand is where it should be, but the wires you see are the oe harness and the AD harness connected.

lets talk insurance
Their opinion and your opinion on what the vehicle is worth is probably going to be differant. They are going to go by the book where you would probably go by what you could get for it. And they definately do care about all the extras you might have added.

lets talk insurance
You can buy insurance on anything if you have enough money. Not sure how you work it on a car short of talking to you insurance co. and telling them you want to insure it for X amount of dollars and see what they say.

Truck died w/ fuel psi & no codes!
I am no expert on injectors but that sounds like it is stuck open. why dont you pull out and see whats going on with it.

Crankcase Vent - can't find it!
I thought that any dealer could plug in your VIN and pull up anything dodge had done to your vehicle. That is dealer repairs and not private repairs. Matter of fact I know they can, they have done to mine. I have had to deal with multiple dealers earier on.
