Just kidding about fixing my VP issues. Truck did it again because it hates me. Time to start checking wiring I guess.. In the meantime, I also am rebuilding this Tahoe motor for my mom, and that will be in the vehicle by next week, so I'll hopefully have some reliable wheels and can really look at this issue

16x7 Dodge Ram Steel Chrome Wheels
Good, someone wants them! Otherwise they'd be going on the girlfriend's horse trailer. Now that'd be a sight

I sure do. I have 5 of them that are cluttering up the shop area...

I'm pretty certain I've figured out my VP issue! I tried switching the horn and VP relays under the hood, and the problem has yet to return. However, when I went to use my horn the other day, it stumbled and finally sounded about a second after I hit the button...

P0216 - Sad but true...
Yes, but you can't forget a brand new pump and a different PSG on my original pump did the exact same thing the original VP did. I don't think my pump failed, but the relay or something else in the wiring was causing my issues.

P0216 - Sad but true...
I can say the Quadzilla wasn't the issue in my pump failures. I've had three pumps in three weeks here, all had the same symptoms, and the Quadzilla tuning doesn't affect it. Today I had the failure when the truck was in warmup mode, so it'll do it on the OEM tuning also.

P0216 - Sad but true...
Yeah all 500 miles I got out of it??? Side note @Me78569, I think (actually am hoping) my dying issue is my IP relay... Huh, I'm pretty sure that's where my VP came from, since the pump came from the midwest and that's where the warranty return went...Hope I don't get another bad one.

I just finished installing a Timbo APPS to fix my intermittent dead pedal issues. Installation went smoothly. Now i'm just waiting on the mailman to show up with my egt probe and stuff to fix my angry, leaking turbo...... He did bring a package for a project I'm starting to gather parts for (pic below is relevant).... more on that later...

You're forgetting the hybrid turbah.... A 6mm jump on the compressor side is a fairly large step up from the stock 54mm...

Quadzilla V2 Custom Tunes
Ah that explains it. Yeah, you sure are lucky. Like Nick said, I would confirm with a mechanical gauge what the actual boost levels are. My Quad has given me boost values of 50+ psi before, and the mechanical gauge said it was 43 psi...

Quadzilla V2 Custom Tunes
Can you post a pic of the turbo, specifically the compressor cover and how the wastegate is run?
-
Quadzilla V2 Custom Tunes
Uh that's bad. Those are at risk of blowing up around 37-40 psi....

Hmmm. Will definitely be testing that sooner rather than later. And maybe taking the car tomorrow

Ha, gonna post this before Tyler says anything, but I have yet to test for AC noise. Might be meeting with @Me78569 this Friday to check it. However, I would think that if the AC noise was bad enough to damage a PSG in 500 miles, it should've affected the ECM by now

Everywhere I've read says P1691 is an internal fueling control failure. Though that doesn't make much sense to me. When the truck quits, you can crank it and it will act like a dead VP. But if you let it sit for 1-3 minutes, it'll fire right up like nothing happened. So maybe not a physical short?

That'd be great! i'll text you closer to and figure out a time and whatnot Ok guys humor me some. I have had three different VP's in my truck over the past two weeks and every one has done the same thing. Every now and then, I'll go to push the clutch in, the truck will rev up to 2000 rpms and die. Every time I will get codes P1691, P0121, and P1693. I have been having APPS issues as well, specifically the 5 second dead pedal. Since i have had three pumps do this, is it possible that the APPS is causing these issues?

I've spent plenty of time on the Canadian border and in Canada itself, so I wouldn't say that unless I was part Canuck myself...

Lol you're basically a Canuck. I'm from Delano MN, 30 min west of the Twin Cities. We had Edmund Fitzgerald Day down there too.

The infamous Cold Rod VP44 has been swapped into my truck to allow me to start a warranty claim on the new SO pump. I do have a miss at idle, though it is not as bad as Tyler's was. The truck idles around 875 rpm..... At least the transmission and differential don't leak anymore....

Anyone tilt Bed to Get To Tank?
I lifted my bed from the front when I put my fass on the truck. There was plenty of clearance between my bed and the cab, so you shouldn't run into any issues. When I went to tilt it, I left the two bolts by the rear bumper halfway in to hold the bed in place.

...maybe.... Though I should definitely check it now that I've had two PSG's die... Any recommendations for reliable testers? Not gonna go with the Harbor Freight Special on this one.

I have fallen victim to a bad VP rebuild. Tonight, with only 500 miles on the new pump, it quit on me, with the same P1691 code as before. What are the chances of two PSG failures? Also, there is something mechanically wrong with this pump, as I could hear the rotor turning in the pump as I was driving..... So, a warranty claim will be started, and I will be putting the infamous "cold rod" pump on the truck for the time being, courtesy of @TFaoro...
