  1. Of course its Friday night and neither they nor Cummins will be open tomorrow.... Yay for another delayed week.
  2. So for my 99 build I decided to buy new head bolts from PureDieselPower that are Cummins OEM head bolts for 98.5-15 and according to the gauge from Cummins they're stretched?????? Here's a picture of the gauge and if you're reading it like I am, here's a picture of the BRAND NEW head bolt I just got out of the Cummins labeled box and according to the gauge its stretched! Am I missing something? Not using the gauge right? I'm getting aggravated because I haven't done anything to the motor in awhile because I've been waiting on these bolts and apparently they're stretched!
  3. So probably just get a reseal kit? I never got a link to that one you mentioned
  4. If there's already a thread could someone link me it? My gearbox on my 99 is leaking pretty badly, like from full it'll leak out in a day, and instead of just resealing the gearbox can I just install a 4th gen steering box? I remember someone I follow on Instagram putting one on his 2nd gen (I don't know the year) but I didn't know if it was possible on a 99 since it isn't the newer front end. Anything helps. Thanks!
  5. Have you heard of the new Bluetooth front driveshafts everyone at SEMA had? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  6. I did that as well, drove an hour home from school on Valentine's day and as soon as I got home I popped my hood, took the valve cover off, threw a fan on it and went to town while it was still hot. Needless to say I won't do that again, and definitely won't do anymore truck work on Valentine's day cause the girlfriend didn't like that, although she was at a softball game
  7. I mean essentially that's what we did
  8. Yeah we tried to do it the natural way but there was no way that thing was coming out. Second time we've had to do that.
  9. Controlled mess, it's not that bad lol
  10. Currently working on my 2nd engine swap in my new-to-me 99 3/4 ton! Not much has been done since I got back from Georgia last week however.
  11. Is it possible to have them check how far off the head could be? I've took a break from the project for a good 2ish weeks and I'm ready to get the ball rolling again and would like to avoid having it in the shop for a couple of days. Don't get me wrong though, I want to do a good job on this and have it last.
  12. First time ever taking the head off a motor since I'm doing my second motor swap on my new-to-me 99. I bought another motor for it, as some may know, when I bought the truck it came with an 02 motor and that wont work and I ended up stumbling into this deal for a 99 but the kid took the head off to check it for cracks so the bolts aren't necessarily tight, but is there a certain way they need to come out?? Also does the head necessarily need decked? The kid I bought it from said it wasnt cracked and I will check it for my self when I put a new head gasket in it but does it need to be decked really?? Anything helps, thanks! TL;DR: I know the bolts go in a certain way but is there a certain way they come out? Also do I need to get the head decked if its not cracked??
  13. Yay!!!! Finally!!!!
  14. Since @Me78569's little signature says first time truckless in a decade and his new one is taking forever, felt this was appropriate.
  15. Prayers your way man. Are you a firefighter or just trying to help out?
  16. How much is that set from Cummins directly? I might go ahead and get that if it's a good deal.
  17. Sweet! Your help is very much appreciated sir! I'll definitely post some pics after its done and during the process!
  18. So just dip a finger in it and get it somewhat wet is the goal?
  19. Locktite or anything?? Would just dipping all of the bolt beside the top of the head of the bolt work? Or just use a finger?
  20. Thank you sir!! This is personally my first time doing anything big to an engine, outside of injectors and the little things.
  21. Will I short out and not do a quality job if I reuse them if they're in spec? I'm just worried about blowing the head gasket and having to do this all over. Also I have a Central Power dealer I believe about 45min. away from me so I might hit them up. Well, I'll have to ask my brother since it'll eventually be his truck and see what he wants in the end.
