  6. Best place to get VP44? Cheapest and best quality? Since my ObdLink and Scan Qauge aren't pulling the codes that the Key Trick says are there what would you recommend to oull those codes? Dealership? I'm afraid its gonna be a injection pump failure code

  8. You can drive it but you might get stranded when they go out somewhere away from home but if you drive the truck around local I’d go for it.
  9. Here’s another strange symptom from my truck. The nasty idle seems to only happen when the truck has been fully warmed up to 170 coolant temp and ran down the road for a while. I drove the 6 miles to town and truck sat for 20 mins and started her and the crappy idle was back. The rest of the day I did several short 1 mile hops and the truck started and ran good?
  10. What’s the temperature when cold starting? As far as I know when it’s cold your going to get blue smoke. I get blue smoke when it’s 15 20 degrees and I have brand new injectors.
  11. Checked the alignment on my truck with a string and it is perfect. Not out of wack at all. So obviously the all over the road issues are from the steering box because of all the slop in it?

  13. I would go with the Super Tech oil from Walmart. It has lower ash levels or something. That's the stuff that I and everyone else here uses.
  14. Just replaced injectors2 weeks ago. I think that's what caused the lift pump to fail. Ran great until the LP died. So its about got to be the VP.
  15. Went to town a little bit ago and truck sat for about 20 mins. started on third crank and sputtered and idled shitty until I revved to 1200 rpms and finally idled better but still not normal. Still a rough idle. Talked to Blue Chip diesel nd gave him all info and symptoms and hes thinking that its the VP. Any other thoughts? Heres a video of the warmed up idle after it sat for 10 mins.
  16. Currently I have it laying on my windshield held down by the windshield wiper because I just replaced my lift pump. I would recommend getting one that stays in the truck. You can run the one I posted in the link but you run the risk of leaking fuel inside the truck. I understand! You could see if theyrs a local shop with a pop tester. Where do you live? ALso you can get a set of High quality Isspro mechanical gauges from Vulcan Diesel for 350$. Idk if you have a manual or auto but if a auto get the trans temp boost and egt and fuel pressure if your a manual get boost egt and fuel press
  17. My build date was 1999 so I doubt it works on mine. Ill run some more scans for codes today. Now I'm bewildered. Truck started up and idled fine with barely a puff of blue smoke and its 25 degrees out! And it wasn't plugged in! Very strange.
  18. Well If you want to test them you will have to send them somewhere and pay them to do it while your truck is down. By the time you do that you might as well get a set new aftermarket injectors. Check out Diesel Auto Power website they have good prices and high quality parts and customer service. I have 75hp sticks and I payed 325 but they were on sale. I think theyre like 375 when not on sale. I would recommend a set of Bosch RV275s plus 40 HP injecotrs. Great fuel MPG and a little extra power. Depending on the trucks goals you may want to go bigger. I don't recommend buying anything over 75hp on a stock turbo! It will cuase smoke and egt issues. Also it would be very wise to get gauges before any other mods. At bare minimum a Fuel Pressure gauge. These can be found at this link.   19. If they are original they've got to be about to the end of their lifespan. I replaced mine recently and they looked pretty nast at 128k Miles.
