Batteries or what?
Thank you. I am too, every time some thing sounds like trouble I start to worry. Everything connected to this Dodge/Cummins is very costly, and not many reputable repair shops, seams like the repair shops are all outlaws around here. Maybe It's just me, I feel older than dirt, Haha. I thank everyone that chimed in to help me. Kerley.

Batteries or what?
Yes we have the same charger. I took the batteries to town today. One was totally DEAD, the other was not dead but would not hold a charge. I replaced both batteries and she fired right up, all is good. Thank you, Kerley

Batteries or what?
Just some background:I don't drive my 24v much anymore. 200,534 miles on the clock. In the last seven years I've only put 5200 miles on it. I last drove it three weeks ago and all was fine. This morning I turned the switch to on position and all the bells and such worked just fine. When I bumped the starter it would not turn over, just kind of drug but not fast enough to start. I cleaned the battrey cables and battrey posts, connected the battrey charger and It read "FULL CHARGE" so I tried to start it again but she would not go.I desided to drive my 97 GMC Sonoma which has not been started for a year, It was dead. I connected the battrey charger and It read "FULL CHARGE" but it was dead. I got my battrey jumper cables, connected them to my tractor and It started right up. I then connected the cables to the Dodge and It still would not crank or even turn over.My conclusion is that the battrey charger is worn out, probly from setting on the shelf in the garage. Tomorrow morning I will remove both batteries from the dodge and go have them tested. They are seven years old and if they are dead then that may be the fix, eather way I will install "HOT" batteries. If that does not solve the problem then I will start looking at the Starter and Solenoid. Is there anything else that would attribute to this current problem? All helpfull information will be apreciated.

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
I read almost everything posted on several Diesel websites, and I have had vp44 and lift pump problems. I replaced my lift pump and vp44 about two years ago and chose the FASS DDRP-2. I use the oem fuel filter and have a AutoMeter Fuel Pressure Guage. At Idle the Fass lp produces twenty four pounds of fuel pressure. Crusing the freeway at sixty five mph the Fass lp produces a steady flow of eighteen pounds of pressure. WOT twelve to fourteen pounds fp. My 1998 Cummins 24V runs like a clock and It's totally stock. I own a small farm in Alabama and raise some nice cattle. I pull my Cattle trailer sometimes loaded and keep up with the best/newest 4x4 trucks on the roads with no exceptions. So Texas CTD-WillM Don't be afaraid of the FASS DDRP, they are affordable and the cattle can easily pay for it, just like mine did.Kerley

I have removed the factory am/fm tape player and am installing another Dodge factory am/fm/tape/cd player. I bought two dodge wiring harnesses one reversed. I have the wiring handeled ecept for one square white two pin plug in the top right side of the radio. I need a plug to plug into it so I have to find out what its purpose is? Does anyone know and does anyone have a plug to sell to me?

Pillar Pod Guage lighting
I pulled the ash tray and found the ash tray light and two wires connected to the light housing. I tied into the black wire which was the hot and my guages lit up, but would not dim thru the head light switch. The pod guage lights would come on or off when I turned on or off the ignition key, and did not turn bright or dim when turning the light switch. I hate guessing but possibly the other wire [ striped in color] could be the Hot/dimmer to the bulb and the black could be the ground? I am puzzled, which side are you hooked to Black or striped or other? Thanks Kerley

Cirus Oil Pressure?idiot light comes on
Took my 96' Jeep to jiffy Lube for service, started home and noticed it was gettin hot. I pulled over and opened the hood and had steam everywhere. They forgot to replace the radiator cap [can't figger why they took it off] screw driver and assorted hand tools left under hood. Got so hot that the valves warped. They said they would repair but I had to take it to their mechanic in Reno, Nevada. They were real sorry sob's to deal with. Finally took the jeep to my mechanic as I wanted it repaired correctly. They never paid a penney, I paid 1100.$ for the repairs. They hire unexperienced kids to do their work. Needless to say I am thru with them.

Boost Fooler/ Elbow
Thinking about installing a Boost Fooler with Boost Elbow on my 1998.5 24V Cummins. If I do this before I install the RV275 injectors will I notice any increase in power or fuel mileage? It's cold and very wet here now. When the weather warms and dries up I will do the KDP, RV275 injectors and valve adjustment with the Boost Fooler. What's your advise?Thank you, Kerley

Kudo's to the OEM air filter!
I opened up my box and there was a mouse nest in the box under the filter. I wonder if the pop I herd was a mouse traveling through the turbo?

Plumbing the BHAF
Looks just like the air filter on my Kubota tractor --- Update to the previous post... I had the same problem. I removed the air filter box and found that the screen was missing from the intake air which allowed the roadants to make a large nest under the filter inside the filter housing [air box]

Help no fuel to filter
I spend a lot of my time on my PC. I scan and read most every thing related to Dodge/ Cummins. E-Bay is a good source for Dodge for sale.I look at the pictures and can not imagine how these owners have high mileage Cummins/vp44' with no guages installed. They must have spent money on repairs that could have been avoided if they had just added a good set of guages. If I were to purchase one of these trucks, I would require a fuel pressure check first. Maybe they just have "Dumb Luck" who knows?

Help no fuel to filter
I have to agree with everyones comment. I replaced my lift pump with the Fass DDRP and have had excellent results. Idle is 25, crusing at 55-65 mph 19-20, wot up grade pulling my GN 16' Horse trailer 70mph I have a solid 17 pounds fuel pressure. Fass explained to me that the new DDRP pumps 30% more fuel than the previous replacement pump. I chose the DDRP because I am retired and on a budget. If it goes bad within two years it is 100% warranteed for replacement. Remember I said I was on a budget, if not I would have gone another direction, most likely with Air Dog 150.

In Praise of the 5th amandment/Don't talk to cops!
I allways try to avoid any contact with the "LAW" and I never call them. Looking back over the last 65 years I can't remember one time that the "LAW" did anything but nose in my business and take my hard earned cash. Last Tuesday, I was driving down the Hiway following a van full of African Americans. We were traveling in the inside lane of a two lane hiway. All the sudden their is an Alabama State Cop on a motorcycle parked in the ditch between lanes. He turned on his red/blue lights and siren. He pulled in behind me, being at the end of the traffic line and pulled me over. He was wearing a mask and all I could see is his nose and eyes but I could see that he was "African American". He said I was speeding and was not wearing a seat belt. I did'nt say a word to him. Today I recieved a bill for $158.00 for speeding 70 mph in a 55 mph zone and $31.00 for not wearing a seat belt. I could go to court and fight the tickets but I would loose. This is Alabama and like all other states they are short on cash. I guess I could ask the judge why the cop let the "LEADER" of the line go and grabbed me. I think that is obvious. Kerley PS; My wifes brother use to be a Judge in South Carolina, I never had much to say to him either. Kerley

Break Rotor Hub Swap
Well I guess that problem is solved. I will just have to keep what I have and be happy with it.Thanks, Kerley

Break Rotor Hub Swap
My 1998 Dodge/Cummins has front disc breaks. The disc/hub appears to be one piece. What year did Dodge modify the hub and rotor so they were seprate, and would the change also fit the 98'. Thank you, Kerley

05 removing negative battery cable problem.
You're right on Russ, thats the way I do it with old tooth brushes and baking soda. The baking soda also works better than Tums for acid indigestion. Kerley
