  1. If your in there do it all! Not worth just one or two. All Bearings and all synchros. This time I skipped doing the needle bearings. All bearings looked great but I got the whole kit and kaboodle so new bearings it got. I used this site and many others for the rebuild.
  2. Thanks, yea I have all the tool goodies. Your idea for the counter shaft exactly what I was thinking. However I think the correct way might be by removing the tail housing. Maybe I can get away by not doing that?
  3. So after I rebuilt my t case I rebuilt my 5600.....Whew what a job but its back together but Im having trouble finding the correct way to measure endplay on main shaft and counter shaft etc. Its all together minus the middle cover inside the bell housing. and I have new shim packs for both shafts. I might have went to far and might need to remove the tail housing to obtain correct measurement... Can anyone shed light on this method. I know what needs to happen, just not sure how to go about it lol. And I know specs are .002-.006 endplay. Thanks.
  4. Just to update, wound up getting some parts through C & M Gear Works in Springfield, MO. Great People and always have everything on the shelf for t case and trans! T case is rebuilt all went smooth except when I took apart, then put back together then realized that there was no snchro ring or spings or detents from the previous owner!!! So went over and got those installed and its all back together now. Still working on trans.
  5. Btw, americanpowertrainwarehouse Is closed permanently, and has alot of negative reviews and some pending lawsuits...just Google it. Lol.
  6. Thanks that's great to know before ordering! The 5600 needs a rebuild 5 year grinds..synchros... I have alot of buddy's that can do that for me though. And may wound up doing it now since I'm almost there anyway...lol I wont take a chance and just replace the chain. It's not worth the gamble...
  7. That's who that link is for, I havent dealt with them before but I soon will be... Their masterkit is what I'm probably gonna get. However I do not know if I really need the chain. I was looking at it last night, no visible wear or sharp edges, I just dont have any experience with chains to know "bad or good". I am a John Deere diesel mechanic "construction yellow" and know my way around everything pretty good but I have never dealt with chain cases. I have dealt with a np203 in a k10 but did not dissassemble. So what should I look for, or what tolerances/specs should the chain be in? Maybe I'll check YouTube for a video also... Thanks gents!
  8. Well I'm gonna just get the whole kit prolly, I'll try and post pics and rate the whole experience for the next joe.
  9. Check this out, Cummins Master Rebuild Might order one from these guys. Looks like it got everything in it! I dont know if I necessarily need a new chain but it's in there lol.
  10. Pulled out my case last night to do a rebuild, where can I find the best kit for rebuild. I'm in this far so I might as well do deals and bearings. Need a complete kit-Please advise. On a second note, who ever was in there before used alot of rtv, and the pick up was pretty much clogged with it.??
