Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
The cps is easy 1 10mm bolt. Getting to it is the hard part. If you have skinny hands you might reach it. When I did mine I unbolted the vacuum/power steering pump assembly to make it easier, just move them a little don't remove them. I think it was 30-45 min job.

Tach died, overhead display wacky... ideas?
Still sounds like cam postion sensors, they are about 60$. When mine went out at first it was bad when cold. Bit it got bad enough that truck acted like a miss. Change cps and have had no trouble since.

Battery cable gauge
This is some what liked I did, although I used military termialts, this look as good and 40$ is half what I paid.

Vave Lash Adjustment Question
Mike's direction worked great for me. I had never adjusted valves before. There were great pix to go along with them.

Going to kill the KDP soon - advice
Well glad your's were "tight". I agree 18lbs is not that much. At least you are sure now.

Lift pump placement
I bought a pump and filter from Blue Ridge Diesel to try and save my OEM lift pump. It is mounted back by the fuel tank. OEM still died after one year, so I wanted a lift pump to run in the stock location that could boost the 10 lbs from my pump on the frame. It has worked well for 2 years. Knock on wood.

Going to kill the KDP soon - advice
I think there should be one under the top [iP] gear. Not 100% sure it's been a couple of years since I did mine.

klcammie 2001 2500 4x4 long bed
This is my stock 01. I have added the BHAF, 4wl low 2 wl lock out, a Pac brake, heated tow mirrors, Raptor. Ibought the truck 31/2 yr ago with 169k I now have 223k. It has the 6 speed HO with 353 rears and on the last trip to UP Mi. I got 22.4 MPG. I have changed the damper to Fluid Damper as mine was falling apart this was a great mod. And ther are a few other changes that are in my sig. The Kenworth in the pix is what I drive at work. It has a 500 hp ISX with a 13 speed and 370 rears. It is a pretty good truck to make a living with.

yes. If you do a search on here for timing gear cover there is a post that has a great pix of the gear case with the cover off that shows most of the bolts.

Going to kill the KDP soon - advice
Yes there are five inside the cover, one was "hand" tight the other four were pretty tight. some of the bolts can't be seen because they are behind the gears. I did mine 2 yr ago but seem to remember that a couple were hidded by the gears.

Lift pump placement
1. THE PUMP ON frame will make it a push pump, which is always better then pulling.2. there is a lot less vibration when mounted to the frame, which makes the pump last longer. All that being said when I put on my Raptor FRRP I put in the stock location. Knock on wood ! year and running.

Going to kill the KDP soon - advice
On mine the dowel pin was fine.(tabbed while I was there and to be sure). What made the project worth while was that I found one of the case bolts hand tight. The other four were tight. That one bolt could have caused me a BAD day.

Dana 80: 3.55 vs 4.11
Why not jack up rear end, mark drive shaft then rotate tire. count rotations of tire and drive shaft that will give you the axle ratio.

Multiple codes
What about the central timer module. It is behind the knee boulster to the left of the steering wheel, seems I read somewhere that the connections get loose or dirty and need cleaning.

Exhaust brake?
isn't a 97 a 12v and if so won't he need to change to 60# valve springs?

Over filling 6 Speed tranny
I did the same, lifted drivers side and filled, close to 6 qts. I agree I'll keep my 6 speed, gotten really attached. Probably would have with a 5 if had one.
