  1. I was impatient putting it together. I should have calked all the seams.
  2. So i picked up a new toy this weekend. Going to go over the loose chrome on the wheels with a wire wheel then blast them. Tried it out on some smaller stuff too.
  3. There were a couple different ones on ebay
  4. @Evan i was looking for painted wheels and these are chrome with some flaking off. Trying to decide how im going to finish them. My wife works with a guy that does blasting and powder coating on the side so I'm going to talk to him and see what he thinks will be best. Options that i see are blast and coat, wire wheel or sand and paint. Guy i work with said plasti dip but i don't think that will hold up. Any suggestions?
  5. In KY i had a 63 Plymouth parts car that still had a title. They wouldn't accept the $300 sale price said it was too low. Charged me some BS antique car value and taxed it at a value of $6500. I had to fight them with pictures and a sworn statement of value to get it lowered to the "minimum" allowed value of $1000. Its all a scam.
  6. @JAG1 thats what i tell my wife. We can have a car payment and repair bills or just repair bills. Plus i can build it how i want it and not worry about voiding a warranty and don't have someone i don't know messing with our cars.
  7. @Bullet and a rust free door the same color as my truck you forgot to mention. I sold my 97 gasser and my 65 Dart plus got some very rare overtime. It helped that everything was fairly cheap Not much time spent yet. Still have to blast and paint wheels, hang door, figure out what to do with the bad turbo, install the good turbo. Need to rebuild my dash still also. I'll be busy when spring finally gets here.
  8. The turbo in need of a rebuild showed up today. Has a little more than "some" shaft play. Looks like the compressor wheel has some damage, can't tell about the hot side haven't got it apart yet. That might happen later in the week. So much for a $50 kit. 50k turbo supposed to be here Friday. Hope its as advertised.
  9. Thats the kind of info I'd be looking for. Id also have it balanced if i made any major changes to it.
  10. I was more referring to aftermarket wheels and find out more info about hx35 upgrades
  11. 50k is pretty low if thats what it really is. I'm wanting to replace my hy35 and have many carefree miles. The 2nd one was cheap enough i figured might as well get it and learn something.
  12. @kzimmer @Bullet if either of you want one of these nuts (or 2) send me your address. Have 2 ready and will only take a few minutes to do more.
  13. Its small but works. 1st wheel i cut fit very snug. I lowered the bit a hair on the second wheel and it fit more to my liking.
  14. When i put on my Fuel Boss i didn't do anything special to prime. Had fuel running down my arms half the time. Spun pump with my hand and could feel it start to pump. Opened injector lines cranked it a bit and it fired.
  15. @Octafish I've bought those pulleys for a lot less on ebay and swap meets. Pic was mainly for reference-i built an electric drive for an old strip car for about $50 and an hour so. Moroso charges a lot for their name. Shop around save a bunch of money. Big pulley will turn pump faster.
  16. I forgot that the 5.9 v8 idles at around 600rpm. Cummins is around 800 so thats a little bump in output assuming the crank pulleys are about the same diameter. Anyone know the diameter of a 2002 Durango 5.9 crank pulley? 01 Cummins crank pulley diameter? Crap. More digging to do.
  17. You can find the pulley fairly easy. Same set up the moroso electric waterpump drives for a mechanical pump uses. Jegs, Summit racing, ebay, etc. Moroso pn for ya. Its a Gilmer belt pulley And yes spin clockwise
  18. Somethings got to give. I'm done spending money for awhile. I'll research this turbo thing and have another project for the future. I'm going to put the 1st hx i ordered on when the rain stops and leave it be for awhile.
  19. Never rebuilt a turbo but it may be time too. Where is a good place to get a kit? Just paid for turbo number 2. What about the aftermarket wheels? Anyone have any recommendations?
  20. It really isnt much difference at all. I don't expect to see much gain but every little bit helps. Plus the Durango pulley was smaller than both of these so i think it might help a little.
  21. Guide? I don't need no stinkin guide! Wheel has a lip that the bearing can ride on to guide the router. Just keep the router flat on back side of wheel and let the bit work. Don't force it, go steady and use a sharp bit. You can see the lip in this photo. There's just enough for the bearing to ride on.
  22. Found a 2nd hx35 that needs rebuilt. $50 + $30 shipping. Just bought a supposedly 50k zero shaft play hx35 but haven't received it yet. Would it be worth getting the 2nd one?
  23. Did all 5 wheels in about 45 minutes. After the 1st wheel it was about 5 minutes per wheel and turned out pretty smooth. 1/2" flush laminate bit in the router at lowest speed. May have to go over it with a sanding drum but won't know until i test fit on rear axle.
