Guages?!
I get by with pillar Autometer gauges and without a Quad and make lots of reliable power. I agree that the Quad is a better system...but it could also be more troublesome as well for those that aren't as savvy. I went with the Smarty/TST Comp stack because of its simplicity and reliability and also because of its documented power potential. I haven't ever had one problem with it having the stack for 7 years now...still on original VP44 too.

Drill Prime A Fuel Boss
You don't even have to use a drill if you have to prime it. Last time I changed the filter...I just removed the belt and spun the pulley by rolling it against the palm of my hand. Didn't take long...that pump really moves some fuel.

She would probably just tear it up like she did the SOTU speech.

They are both crooks for sure...but the difference is Al Capone actually cared about the people.

Dang @Gregturley...did you win the lottery or something? That's an alternator, 2 turbos, and a set of hummer wheels within the last week...all of which you have done work on. Where are you getting all this time and money?

Cheap factory 160a alternator
So many different variables involved...I just want to see your final test results. We should be able to tell a lot from that.

Thanks @Gregturley...can't wait to hear the results of the Ford pulley.

If you find that it works out well for you then I would love to have one of those since I plan to follow your lead...and of course I can PayPal you for your troubles. I'm waiting to hear your final impressions once you get it all completed and tested like you want it.

Coolant temp
I put a 200 degree in mine and that sucker will put out some serious heat during the winter. I have a regular cab and it's not long before I start thinking about cracking a window. OP...I can hit 200 with a cold engine on a cold day in about 12-15 mins of driving so I would guess that your thermostat is stuck in a slightly open position. Of course I'm on the gulf coast so our definition of 'cold day' may differ slightly.

Cheap factory 160a alternator
Ok thanks Greg...I was a little curious about that when reading from the link. Didn't seem like much but good to hear some confirmation. Also read about how someone said that the Ford pulley wasn't a perfect fit but you can also confirm that pretty soon when yours comes in.

Cheap factory 160a alternator
What pulley are you running and do you have any mis-alignment?
-
Cheap factory 160a alternator
There was a guy on there that had a bunch of electrical stuff on his too that had nothing success after a year of running it...so it seems like a viable alternative. The Mechman and Nations are nice but just too damn expensive.

Cheap factory 160a alternator
Thank you for all that info...please do report back after you test it with what you find out. That smaller Ford pulley should get a few more amps out of it at lower rpms. This is a great (and cheaper) alternative for me...great find! Just finished reading through your link...dude did a great write up on it. The 160 Amp appears to be a better built alternator as well with more diodes. I'm going to try it out too...gonna see if I can get a lifetime warranty from one of the parts houses and never have to worry about it again.

Cheap factory 160a alternator
Interesting...I just looked up a brand new one from local parts store and it's $157 + core. I was gonna go with a Nations 180 Amp for $299. That's close enough to the 180 Amp to justify the savings. Is it a direct bolt on in regards to connections and mounting flanges...other than just changing the pulley?

Brake switch
Only one way to find out...install it and see what happens.

47re for 2001 4wd
Damn...the exchange rate where you are is horrendous! Around here a dime is worth about 10 cents...practically worthless. I'm bringing my piggybank up to where you live and cashing in! Then I'm gonna retire... ...and they said I didn't have a retirement plan...pffft.
