  1. This is the way I went. I failed to see the logic in replacing an electric pump with another electric pump. Kinda like kicking the can down the road...or doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result. I figured if I'm gonna gamble with a grand (cost of new VP44), I'd just hit Vegas instead and get similar odds while having a much better time. There just aren't as many showgirls around when I'm working on the truck.
  2. @Gregturley, thank you Sir! I've been looking at doing the lockup switch for a while but never liked the limitations of the more basic ones. IBMobile's write-up looks like it does away with the limitations and doesn't look like too much of a hassle from your experience with it...cheap too!
  3. Lol...I don't have any kids so I'll subtract about 4 hours for that. Thanks again!
  4. I could be wrong but I don't think anybody on here is gonna say 'yeah don't worry about it'. More than likely they'll advise you to fix it right...which is what I would do too. Can you see it? Maybe you could snap a pic of it and post it? Maybe it's not that bad to fix.
  5. Yup...it just falls on its face as soon as you pass the magic number. I used to have mine set at 90 to keep me from going to jail but I found myself frustrated on more than one occasion so I removed it. I got to thinkin...life is short and I've never been to jail before. So I'll just call it a bucket list item...if they ever catch me.
  6. Awesome...that's great to hear! I have a few questions for you if you don't mind...being that you just did the mod. How much in total parts/supplies did you end up spending? And how long did it take you to get it done? What were the hardest parts about it? Did you change anything else from IBMobile's write up besides the dimmer to toggle switch? Thanks in advance!
  7. That's the same info I go by. Mine doesn't take quite that much now since I deleted the heat exchanger but it used to take around 5+ gallons of 50/50.
  8. You will definitely have rubbing problems from vibration. If you already have paint issues there they will get worse. The best thing to do would be to spray on bedliner on the bed rails and then come over the top of it with your diamond plate rails. You will not have any rubbing/paint/corrosion problems that way.
  9. That 364 seems like a fairly large upper turbo for a compound setup. I would expect it to be laggy unless you are throwing ALOT of fuel at it. I would imagine you'll have to step up to a 7x.014 to wake up that 364...and that's alot of injector. You'd have to use caution not to smoke up intersections in town. Idle haze and cold weather might also be issues.
  10. From the outside looking in it seems like living in California is slightly better than living in a prison. Just an observation since I don't have experience with either one. Spray in bedliner over the rails is the best choice by far...considering that you can smuggle it in and get it applied without becoming a felon. I'm not aware of the length of jail time given for an illegal bedliner so you'll have to investigate that and see if it's worth taking the risk.
  11. If I chose to raise the front I wouldn't do it without adding longer control arms, an adjustable track bar and longer front shocks. You can do it without changing out these parts but caster will be off, track will be off and shocks could top out with longer suspension flex. Addressing the rear is much easier, much cheaper and keeps front alignment specs in tact. Rear shocks should still be fine if you don't shorten the rear bump stops. If you lower the rear but want more overall height for tire clearance then body lift it.
  12. It hasn't happened to me yet. Do y'all think that's Mike's way of allowing the more important opinions to post while screening some of the marginally important ones? Just kidding...you guys write good posts...sometimes.
  13. That might be the best thing for a manual since it has to go back before it goes down. I think an auto is actually a little easier. If you don't have a device to spread the frame then you must remove the transfer case first so you can slide the crossmember back and out. But if you can spread the frame to remove the crossmember and have a capable transmission jack then the tranny and transfer case can be pulled as one unit and then seperated on the ground. That's how I did it anyways. I did put them back in separately however. The 5600 is a beast. I bet it weighs more by itself than my auto and transfer case combined.
  14. Oh...I see. The dreadlocks are not necessarily a bad look. Makes it look like it should be playing running back in the NFL...or holding up a convenience store with its pants around its thighs. On second thought...maybe that's a bad idea.
  15. The ram looks good...shine it up real good and you got a winner. Why does it look like it has dreadlocks out the back?
  16. Man...when it rains it poors. My OEM radiator only made it to about 180k. It would have gone longer if my fan clutch bearing didn't seize and break my fan shaft...which sent my fan for a ride underneath the hood. Total radiator destruction and the belt and shroud didn't like it too much either.
  17. Sweet...that sucker is huge! Let's get it mounted up and see what it looks like. Being that I'm in Texas I'd like to get a set of real ram horns mounted on my hood...just like all the Cadillacs in the movies have the longhorns mounted on the hood.
  18. Your new tranny said that it is up for some more power...
  19. That's a mean lookin duck! I bet no birds even think about crapping on your truck...
  20. Mike can you elaborate on that last part?
  21. That's not too bad...just my torque converter cost more than that. And you didn't even have to do any of the rebuild. Cost me $5k and then I had to do the work. I'd say you came out fairly well!
  22. Not yet for me...still running your 7x.010 VCO's. But the 7x.012 SAC's are what I am pondering.
  23. Ouch...just seeing that thing out of the truck makes me start sweating. Memories...
  24. I'm gonna go with 1850...
