Truck took a dump !!! Now the fun begins!!
Well now you have me wondering what the NO NO's are so all of us can learn from your mistakes.

The only thing I really understood in all of this is the "what the fark did you say?" part, and it is fitting. Being a newbie makes it rough figuring out what posts like this are all about. Is there an index that one can use to decipher what "CW, VGT, ARP" and other abbreviations mean.I honestly am not trying to be a wise guy. I am just trying to "spool up" pardon the pun, and these abbreviations are killing me. You fellows have a whole lot of knowledge that I would love to learn more about.

Steering box brace
Johnfak, thanks for the link on that steering brace. I ordered one. It is the first brace I have seen that looks as if it will work with a snow plow frame. It doesn't have the big square tube like all the others. It will be a close fit, but I talked to Don (the owner) and he said if it didn't work he would refund my money, so it is worth a try. Thanks. Bob

I think this new body style that Dodge has is the best looking truck out there right now. Chevy, nice. Ford fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. The Ram box is a really good idea. It's about time they started putting them back in the trucks. Ford had a toolbox back in the 60's and 70's that was in the side of the bed. I never could figure out why they did away with that. That is a lot of wasted space inside those panels.

The oil spray is a really smart thing to do, especially where you are located. The vehicles I have seen from your area look like Pennsylania vehicles do. I wish Dodge or Ram or whatever they are called now would get their act together with the quality of the body build. If they had given attention to this ten or twenty years ago they would have built a really good reputation by now and wouldn't have to sell their trucks for $8,000 less than the other two.

It's BIG, it's LOUD and it STINKS. It's a TRUCK! not a tree hugging Prius.

fuel leak
Third!!! I already have a to do list. 1) Pull turbo off and work on waste gate to see if it is stuck or the actuator is bad.2) While turbo is off, drill and tap the manifold for Pyro gauge.3) Install boost, transmission temp and Pyro gauges. 4) Install leveling kit Thats what comes to mind right off the bat.You know how it is, as soon as one thing is done you want to do another. I am beside myself right now, the weather is nice outside and I can't walk very well today because of my back injury.

Bhaf??
Same as all the others. No better MPG, and very annoying on the noise end. If it weren't for the chance of mice making a nest in the factory box again, I would put it back on to reduce the noise. It is already loud enough. I am not into the "F16 Falcon" sound effects as much as some I guess.

Hormone imbalance big time on those two. Or as my wife says "my whores are moaning".

How many miles did you get out of it?

fuel leak
I have only known one other guy with a V10 Dodge, it was a 96 also. He used it hard and it took a real pounding and asked for more a very good truck, however, it was a major PIG on gas. He bought a diesel after that one and never looked back.

Maybe it is the 4.10 gears, but my truck seems to have nice low end power, or maybe it's that my last 2 trucks were a gassers and I have forgotten what real torque feels like. I am currently getting about 17.5 mpg in the country and 20 on the highway. I don't think that is too bad considering the low gears. I really wanted 3.55s and an 8 foot bed and a 6 speed and High Output would have been nice,,,come to think of it that's exactly what you have. Where you parking that thing tonight?

I think a box and the 275's would be a nice addition. Maybe sometime after Christmas.

fuel leak
Thanks for the info. Dave. It really doesn't sound too bad. I am fortunate in that I can take my time and quit if I need to and pick back up later. However, I probably would still have to pay someone to do that job due to my spinal injury. Next question; Would the RV275 injectors have the same effect on a stock engine like mine as they would on yours? [+1 mpg]I have also thought about finding a used Smarty or Edge (Comp or EZ) as I have heard a lot of good about them. I am more concerned with the increase MPG than horsepower as I am okay with the power it has in the stock form. I say "used" because they are very pricey new and once in a while a guy will trade in a truck and take the box out and sell it.I have heard a couple of horror stories about buying used boxes, so I don't know if that is really the wisest way to go.

fuel leak
How hard is it to do, and how long (realistically) does it take. Well Dave, if the leak is fixed you can just say she is over her leaky "time of the month". Don't feel bad, mine is hormonal right now too! I mean the truck. Wheeeww, I can get myself in some trouble here, I had better quit.

Class Action Lawsuit Settled on 99-01 53 blocks.
You are forgetting, this is a class action suit. The attorney that filed the action gets his portion of the total award from the court. It would be interesting to see what that portion was...

The cost isn't bad, and I hear guys say that they have changed them themselves. The thought of it is a bit intimidating for me as I imagine those back two injectors would be hard to reach. I have limited mobility so that would be out of the question for me.

The RV275's amaze me. How can more power = better fuel mileage? Believe me I am not questioning your math as I know you are the kind to say straight up if it did better OR worse. It is one of those things that one has to ask, why didn't Dodge put these in from the factory? If I ever need injectors I know which ones to use.Regarding simplicity, these trucks are like the AK47, simple, and reliable. Buy her the Michelins and put them in the garage. She'll never wear them.

It appears the old girl has been a little testy lately Dave. Maybe you need to take her out and buy her some shoes or something.

Steering box brace
I honestly don't see where it would matter if the engine was running or not. You are just checking for play in the shaft while moving the steering wheel from left to right a little.
-
Steering box brace
John, I have not done this myself but have read instructions from others on this site which stated to have someone with a bit of strength turn the steering wheel left to right while the engine was off. While doing this get under the truck and hold something like a pencil or screwdriver centered on the steering box shaft where the pitman arm is bolted on. If the shaft has some play in it you will be able to see it moving side to side.If I am wrong in these instructions, someone please correct me, but this is how I read to do it.I bought my steering box brace on ebay for $110 with free shipping. It was of good quality. I honestly can't see how they can build them sell them for that. The sellers name is "Customdiesel 123" He sells them for $119, but I made an offer for $100, and they agreed to sell it for $110. Bob

I don't know if they are petroleum based or not. However, I based my [assumption] that K1 would strip wax, upon the use of Mineral Spirits to strip wax, which is a standard means in woodworking for wax removal. I am sure I am probably wrong, "as usual". It is my experience that waxes today are ALL over rated regarding how long they last. I do know from my own personal experience that dishwashing detergents like Dawn or Polmolive really strip wax when used to wash a vehicle. I have waxed my truck, and in one wash with Dawn dish detergent the wax was totally gone. It sure does clean the bugs off nicely though and when I want to get my truck really clean, like when it has that Calcuim Choride on it (used for ice melt on the roads in Maryland) I use Dawn and then try to get some wax on it right after that.Regarding acid rain. I live in a particularly bad area for that and the waxes I use (Meguire's, Norton ect.) are good quality waxes but haven't been able to overcome that acid once the sunlight hits those water droplets.I hope I didn't come off wrong about the K1. You have my interest now, and I will give it a try and see how it works. The older I get the more I realize that the things that the generations before us did were simple, yet worked, and were generally cheap. ie. ammonia, for cleaning interiors, Vinegar/water and a drop of soap for windows ect..Simple is good. Thats why I have a 24 valve Cummins. The more I learn about the simplicity of this truck, the more I wish I had bought one years ago.

If that class action was for cracked dash boards there would be a whole lot of happy people.

The K1 would strip any wax of the truck, otherwise I would try that.

I am not quite clear on this. Are you saying that they added K1 to the wash water when washing the truck?
