  2. Sorry Wild and Free........ I'm stayin' out West. No goin back east for me and them back roads out here.....Well they're hard to beat
  3. If I can't take my camper I just don't go. I don't miss going to Europe or anywhere else that I cannot bring my camper. This means no cruise ships After all..... I'm in the Mountain West so where else is there? .

Thanks for the link Dripley. Did some reading about ECMs. It said the biggest enemy is heat for most of them.

Wow, Driply that's a lot of money. I understand fully about getting good parts and money well spent. I've done things like that too knowing it's the best. Do you have any idea why yours went out? Excessive heat? internal short? Be nice to open that puppy and get some pics for us all someday.

Welcome to the forum and hope you get a good ECM. I have read about a few cos. sending bad ones out so get a good exchange garantee. Hope your in a good part of Cali. There are some very nice parts. I'm in Oregon wondering when our California weather will end. It's been nice for working on the truck but we have lots and lots of forests here. Worried about fires Mike Keep us posted what happens with your truck as it helps us all when we hear how it got fixed.
  8. Great story Jim, bit of a tear jurker ....... If I can make it even half way like this friend of yours... this guy is a hero in my book..... incorporating all the advice above, I am confident everything will be all right. I'll have fun doing this if I can do it right for those I deal with. It's not about the money, that takes care of itself, it's how you treat others and recommend the best poss. solution.
  9. Good advice ... I thank you for taking the time to share your take on this subject. Everyone here literaly pours buckets full of viable things to learn/ remember. It's just terrific
  10. Thanks Diesel4life for doin' this........
  11. This is a nice write up. This needs to be a Sticky for sure. Thank you YabbaDoo
  12. YabbaDoo I love your post Mopar Mom brought to my attention again. Your right about our trucks being the better haulers. What I see is the use of midsize to smaller SUV's hauling some some fairly good sized rv trailers. I know the manufacturers set weight limits and towing capacities but, when I notice it seems almost shockingly out of proportion, trailer size to foreign SUV, I wonder and think.... are they exaggerating? I'll need to check towing capacities on rigs that come in. Thank you, Mike
  13. Very sound advice . I now realize there could hardly be any better advice than coming from buyer's side like yourselves. Points are well taken and I thank all you for that. It's a scary thing making a change like this. The thing that impresses me most is how short these sales people fAll short of being truely grateful, friendly, AND helpful after the sale. It makes them out to be small yet, the big looser. Thanks you guys......
  14. I hear ya' Driply, That one little town called Hubbard did it for me and the client. We were a year and still not done jumping thru all their hoops. Problem was they were broke. Kept adding more and more hoops and charges. They were like this Environmental protection Dept. .........neurotics carried to the extreme. as it were Every time I walked out of there. Felt like I had a Fram filter crammed up my, 'you know what'.for environmental reasons
  15. I've been a contractor all my life (32 yrs.) but changes in the construction/ remodel biz has changed. So I went and got thru my first interview, approved for the next step to go into rv sales. Was wondering if anyone knows anything or had experience with such as it's all terribly and I do mean hugely new to me. With the Good...the Bad and the ugly.... I think I can do pretty well in this biz. What do you guys think? At least it easier than dealing with the heavy work, building Depts. and the politics. Thank you guys for bein' the best around here. Mike
  16. I don't know.... they're startin' to legalize marajuana everywhere.....Might even forget where the seat is Actually I don't do drugs. It's bad stuff. I have a hard enough time remembering what highway I'm on anyways. I got everything poss. on that list. Stuff like... make sure you are dressed... not travel dressed in underware stuff like that. :ahhh: keeps me from walkin' around my rv for 30 minutes
  17. :lmao:'' walked around the house for 30 mins''. Hey Driply... a neat little trick since i have a RV also is inside my map book I have a list of all the things I might forget. First thing is to open that page on the seat of the truck. I even have things like unplug rv and fill with water.... camera...
  18. Just did mine today.......going to strap it when I get the right strap
  19. Side note about increasing the fuel lines...... I was still on the stock block pump when I had a gauge put on..... pressures were 12 at idle and down to 7 at WOT.. Tossed the stock fuel lines and went to 1/2''..... Pressures were a steady 14 even at WOT. This showed how restrictive banjo bolt lines are. Next went the factory draw straw which only gained about 1/2 pound pressure. It was better just enough to notice. After the factory pumps kept going out (always carried an extra) I went to the AD Raptor 100 and pressures are 20 to 15. If I'm hauling a heavy load, uphill at WOT, I can get the pressure down to 14. JMHO.... the smaller the fuel lines the harder the pump has to work.
  20. Doin a search on this I found that lots of guys are strapping across the spare from frame to frame with a ratchet strap. Someone said there is holes in the frame where you can hook across.Sounds like a simple fix. Jim, in the search a few guys found out that their winch wouldn't let the spare come down. Bad deal finding this out on the side of the road. Silicone spray and running it up and down once a year is good thing. Gassernomore one account in the search, a guy lost his spare and caused minor damage to the vehicle behind, he was lucky. Thread had two attorney's reply saying that he would be fully responsible in most cases but, since the lady behind him deliberitly ran over the tire, witnesses saw her do it as though she was trying to sue him. Another guy with a Dodge Ram saw his tire bounce, fly up in the air landing clear across the 4 lane highway. No one was hit fortunatly.
  21. I am hearing some problems from use of the spare tire winch so I was wondering if someone has done any mods to this. I am concerned about seeing my spare tire passing me on the highway sometime. Was thinking if anyone's found a solution... it seems kinda flimsy and that ratchet effect doesn't seem like it will hold the tire forever. So my first thought is a small boat winch mounted near an easy access point (wheel well or something) and then have the cable going over to where the original winch was with a pulley. I don't know.... just planning on having this truck for a long time and a boat winch is loads more positive holding locking power. A beer for your thoughts? Thanks
  22. Thanks AGP, think I'll start a thread on this so where it goes.
  23. .QUOTE......AGP Turbo On a side note, I just got a new spare tire winch for the snapped one my truck came with and a new grid heater battery to lug jumper for the hacked one on my truck from a place called dodgepart.net. I got both with shipping for less than my dealer wanted for the winch alone. Obiously it pays to shop around on any truck purchase!..... Quote AGP, A bit off topic..... can you explain where the tire winch broke.... what to look for?? It's a safety concern of mine if it ever comes loose on the highway and hitting someone. I don't trust those winches beyond about ten years.
  24. That's cool! Like to have an Atv with one of those sitting under it.
  25. A friend of mine did that exact same thing. He paid for the work to get done..... $10 grand something like that in the 90's. It had an Allison trans behind it. It needed a paint job real bad but it was a nice truck after that.
