  1. This is the first I've ever read of a "Raptor" LP puking out!!!!! I have no clue as to how to help you out.:duh:For the last several years, I've read nothing but good things about the Raptor system. They seemed as "bullet-proof" as the Walbro systems out there...............like I've been running for probably 6 years now!!!:thumbup2:I probably just jinxed myself and my Walbro by saying that!!:banghead:
  2. Don't forget the "fruits and nuts"!!!
  3. Fixed it........thanks.
  4. Northern Ill-Annoyz about 5 miles South of Wisconsin border. Lake county.......Chain-O-Lakes area.
  5. Did it Mike!! Filled up yesterday evening with 31.6 gallons of fuel, and had 688 miles on the tank. Stuffed the tank up the neck also!!! That works out to 21.77x MPG!!! Only about 25 towing miles on that tank and that was yesterday morning.
  6. Not yet. I did lock the hubs and drive for about 10 miles to get the grease in the new U-joints spread about. Yeah, the 2 wheel low will be a big plus backing trailers........especially up slight inclines!!!
  7. John, I got the "MileMarker" hubs in my kit. I have no reference as to different brands of hubs; because I've never dealt with them before!!!:2cents:All I can tell you is this..........the MileMarker hubs seem to be a robust unit. I've no experience with other brands at all. I have repacked about a gazillion trailer wheel bearings though!! The bearings provided in this kit seemed quite large, and of quality!!I plan on pulling everything apart in about 25k miles and repack the bearings................if needed...........and then decide if I need ball joint and tie rod work/replacement.Truck drives really, really fine since the install...........I ain't gonna look a gift horse in the puss at all!! Truck drives and handles great................all is good IMHO!!!!:smart:PS...........New tires have 15k on them now: no abnormal tire wear at all!!!!!
  8. Slacker!!!!:thumbup2:Kidding or course!!:whistle:Safe travels!!
  9. Funny you should ax that!!! I was gonna post a new thread when I go out and fill up later. Most of this tank of fuel was prior to the "free spin" hub kit. I didn't work at all last week in the heat wave we had here; just caught up on domestic stuff, and worked a bit on my hearth for my wood stove install. Anyhow, as per my prior post, I've got about 250 miles on this tank with the hubs installed. As of now, I've got 670+ miles on this tank. All time high for not all highway driving. I was gonna post about the great mileage this tank was getting for me. Since my "3 In a Row" thread, Mike said I could get 21+.........I think I got it on this tank. DTE on the "lie-O-meter" read 43 as I pulled into my drive this afternoon. I'll know more this Saturday on how these hubs doing driving wise. I have to attend a "judges seminar" to remain "current" in the pool of judges for the the retriever organization I belong to. The seminar is in Indiana, and about 200 miles away, so it'll be a good test of these hubs!!! I'd like to wait for another seminar closer, but none are posted yet, and we're getting close to "hunting season" and I'd hate to blow a Saturday during hunting season close to home if I can do it now!!! Stay tuned!!
  10. Bump Up!!!! How about an update Michael??? 200k yet????:ahhh:As of today, I'm at 169,2xx on Mighty Whitey.Just axing!!
  11. I lived in Amarillo for 2 years, so technically, I'm a former Texican. Didn't like the 115*/10% humidity days then also ...........only saving grace was that Amarillo is at 3600 feet, and cools down nicely at night...............but still not cool enough for me!!!!
  12. OK guys, I've put about 250 miles on Mighty Whitey since the install. Here's what I've noticed/liked so far:1. Truck definitely takes bumps in the road better on the front axle. Less "jumpy" it seems.2. Because of #1, steering is much crisper and more responsive. Tires staying on the road??3. This one is a bit suggestive, but I swear I'm seeing less boost at speed than prior. When driving now, the hubs just get warm. The weather has cooled down considerably since we installed these hubs.........................not like them being borderline hot driving home after the install because it's 102-104* out and we left the tires outside baking in the sun before re-installing them. We had to use welding gloves to put the wheels back on!!!!!:banghead: The passenger side hub gets just a touch warmer than the drivers side, but nothing like Friday driving home. I think the hubs soaked up a lot of heat from the rims/tires, and then like I said in the other thread, I drove it pretty hard (brakewise) on the way home to find any weak spots!!First time towing the trailer with them today..........no problems!!!Hopefully this will cure my trucks appetite for front axle U-joints!!
  13. When I saw Mikes picture of 16% grade, I immediately thought of looking up from the bottom of the Grand Canyon!!!! Most I've driven up and down is 9%, and from the cab of my truck it was steep enough!!
  14. OMG!!!! Were you a "breech" birth and the doctor smacked on the head a bit too hard; because he couldn't tell one end from the other????!!!!! The way I see it is this.........you can always add layers of clothes and burn more fuel to keep warm. You can only strip down so far before the police come and get your naked butt and haul you off to the fun house!!!
  15. Sorry for the dirty truck. It's been too "hot" around here to even wash a truck!!!! On my latest cruise...........to pick up my dogs from my buds kennel while doing this project in this heat.............the hubs are warm, but I think much of it is from the big-assed brake rotors on our trucks transfering heat to the hubs. Not near as warm as yesterday driving in 100*+ temps for 60+ miles though. Truck seems to coast fine, and I'm not getting any burning smells or pulling of the truck one side to the other. As I said, I think it's mainly heat transfer from the brakes to the hubs now:smart:!!!Front end of the truck definitely goes over bumps a lot nicer than before. It's hard to tell about "responsiveness" in the wheel, because I've got the "steering box brace" on............but she's still quite crisp in response of the wheel!!!:2cents:As of now, I've got 550 miles on this tank of fuel. No towing at all. The fuel gauge just centered itself in the middle of the 1/4tank line!!!!!!!! So far that would put about 90-100 miles on this tank since the "free spin" install. So far, so good.............I hope!!!
  16. OK guys, the SpynTec kit is installed. My Buddy, JD and I busted it out in about 6 hours in 104* heat!! That doesn't include a 45 minute tool run to Farm and Fleet for an 18mm 1/2" drive socket. We busted a 3/8" drive ratchet on the passenger side unit bearing bolts!! Wasn't bad working on the truck until you got out of the "wind" from the 4 foot drum fan we had blowing at the front of the truck.I did not take pictures of the install as we went along because it was so hot and miserable out. Sweaty/greasy hands and arms and foreheads and faces, are not a good combo for using a camera!!! It was so hot, that when we finally got around to reinstalling the front tires; the sun had been baking on them for about 2 hours. Not to mention the air gun!!!! Had to put welding gloves on the install the tires and use the air gun!!!!:stuned:After we got Mighty Whitey buttoned up; we had a beer, JD showed off the house he'd built, BS'ed a bit, and then I headed home. It's about 60 miles out to JD's place, and once I got on the road and the thermometer acclimated..................for the whole ride home, it was reading between 101-104*!!!! I checked the hubs about 15 miles form JD's, and they were quite warm...........I was driving it like I stole it, just to test things out., but remember how hot the tire/rim was upon re-install????? That, plus driving 60 miles home in 100+* heat in a fair bit of stop and go traffic, I don't think is a fair test if we installed them properly!! When I got home, they were very warm, but I could keep my hand of them without pain or discomfort.Today is about 15* cooler...........only 90*!!!! Made a 12 mile loop to check the hubs again. They were markedly cooler than yesterday..........having sat in my garage overnight and out of the early sun today. Gonna make another 30 mile round trip in about an hour, and I'll recheck them again. Here's a few pix of how they look with my modified hub caps installed!!!..............PS......I believe the truck drives smoother now. Going over bumps doesn't seem as harsh. No road vibration thru the steering wheel............not that it was bad before, but very quiet thru the wheel now without all the components spinning now!!! Just a better driving truck now: with only less than about 100 miles on the new kit so far!!
  17. I hear that on the "cold weather" fashion!!!!!:banghead: I'm most comfortable in weather right around 32*!!!!! With no humidity of course!!
  18. Update...........My Buddy, JD and I, are gonna tear into my truck tomorrow to install the SpynTec free spin hub kit I bought. I'm not looking forward to doing it in this heat, but that drivers side axle U-joint keeps coating the drivers side tire rim in rust dust!!!! Even with grease every week upon discovery of the problem!!!I'll take pix of the install and post them.
  19. OK, at 3:50PM, here's the picture. Sorry for the crappy pic, but I didn't want to touch the thermometer and skew the reading. I took 4 pix, and this was the best. I think you can see 110 in the middle display!!!:banghead:This really sucks!!
  20. OK guys, I've had enough of this weather already!!!!! It ain't even "mid-summer" yet!!!!:ahhh:It's been hot here since the Memorial Day weekend.......give or take a few days in there. This past weekend, my retriever club had our regular hunt test..........it was miserably hot. I hate running dogs in that weather. :pant:However; since last week Thursday, we've been over 95* everyday since. Monday thru today at my house have been over 100*.........with little or no wind!!!!!! Tuesday hit 103.5 on my digital thermometer, yesterday, 106.7 and todays temp is what you see in my pix as of 12:40PM on Thursday!!!! It'll be at least what yesterday was. The round thermometer is on my East facing deck and it's not in the sun, but catching all the radiating and reflecting heat off my deck!!!!:stuned:I'll take -20* over this crap any day!!!!
  21. It sure sounds like Rogain has "Frankenstein" shoes on when he drives!!!!http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/6086-3-In-a-Row I don't give a rats dupa how many folks pass me going down the road. Just as long as they don't endanger me by tail gaiting or passing me and then cutting in front of me to soon!! My last tank of fuel that got me 20+mpg, the Lie-O-Meter read 26mpg average for that tank. The tank I'm on now (no towing at all so far) is reading 28.8mpg average with 305+ miles on the tank and the fuel gauge is pegged right at 3/8th's tank of fuel used or IOW 5/8th's tank left!!! All of those tanks got me 600+ miles on them also!!! And yes, my stock sized tires are calibrated correctly via my Smarty. Rogan, I think the raw egg under the accelerator pedal may be in order for you!!
  22. Great call Russ. One that was overlooked by everyong!!!
  23. It took a while, but I think I've got the drawing figured out.................it's looking under the truck from in front!!!!! I take it that this "cowboy" method needs two people. One to grab the tires and wiggle them, and one to watch the ball joints and tie rod ends???? How hard does the guy on the tire try to wiggle the tire???? Just short of rocking it off the jack stands, or what??? If I try this by myself, would I "feel" any movement as I cannot see anything while wiggling the tire??? And yes, Dodge give specs for movement..........but how much is "really" too much????? What can you get away with?? Never any inklings of DW on my truck............not arguing, just asking!!!
  24. I give the "turn-buckles" a shot of WD 40 every so often to keep them rust free and so you don't need to be the HULK to "trip" them!!!!
