  1. The noise you're hearing is called "turbo bark". It occurs under relatively high boost loads and quickly letting off the go pedal............you get a little "bark".Turbo bark is not "good" for your turbo. I'd recommend a lighter right foot!!! Or easier let up on the go pedal under load. It's possible to break vanes off the turbo with "barking"!!!!
  2. Since you axed for it; here's the link that got it all started!!!!! http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/alternative-fuels-additives-oils-lubricants/4054-first-time-w-2stroke-oil.html For the longest time, this was the biggest thread over there...........to the dismay of many of the mods and site administrator at the time!!! Many of which tried to de-rail the 2 stroke revolution as it was taking hold!!! Why you ask???............................what do you see when you click in there???? Nothing but advertisement, correct??!!! What are those advertisers selling?????? Many are fuel supplements....................that's how Mike got started, burned out, started again, burned again, and then started "THIS", his "OWN" website, that he runs with the help of us!!!!
  3. Michael,I re-read the whole "monster thread" about 2 stroke that I started on CF in May, 2005, that you took over and.................did what you did!!!! I was surprised how "absent" I was for much of the original thread. But IIRC, you had started other 2 stroke threads in there that I was on.................not to mention the feud DuluthDiesel and I had at the same time regarding my WallyWorld oil usage and TP bypass filters going on at the same time!!! Twas interesting reading for sure!! I would've "cut and pasted" threads, but...................old news!!:thumbup2:Joe
  4. So it's a "done deal"??? Did you trade the "diesel hog" you currently have on this one??:thumb1:More info, Dude!!!
  5. Remember the pix if you pull the trigger!!
  6. I run my Smarty on SW5 default settings. SW7 has way more power as does SW9, but both are smokey and hot!!I got an intake system, a cat-back exhaust, tone wheel mod, SB Con OFE clutch, and a Smarty. And now "free spin" hubs from SpynTec.The biggest reason I get good mileage, is that I actually "drive" for it. If'n you're really seriously asking, the best I can tell you is, that I'm the guy you're passing and probably cursing at driving around suburbia!!! And I don't care either!!!
  7. Nothing except the fact that there is available only a small % of 17" sizes vs. 16" sizes!!! As I said prior; I'd love a LT255/80 17E in a AT light truck Cooper Tire. But.........no go there!!!!:banghead:
  8. 169,3xx Mike!!!! That funeral trip to Wisconsin has me "catching" you a bit quicker than I thought!!!!!I wanna see your "wood" when you go get it though!!! Not in a "sexual" way either!!!
  9. WOW!!! That truly amazes me!!! You've got me worried about my truck now!!!:banghead: Thanks!! I do check often, because I change out a TP bypass filter every 5k now!!! Just saying, not arguing!!! I still say piston rings or valve guides IMHO!!
  10. Not trying to be a nagger here..........but are you checking your oil the "exact" same way every time so you do so!!!!! I know, I can get as much as "1 Quart" difference depending on when I check my oil!!! But not 6 QUARTS like you say!!!!!! I've got a hard time believing your "IDIOT LIGHT" didn't come on with you being that low on engine oil!!!! Not arguing, just saying!!
  11. Forgot to add.........that was coming back yesterday into a SW quartering wind. I was cruising right at 65mph because of the Wisconsin State Patrol that was out even at Zero Dark Thirty AM going North!!! I'm a happy camper!!!
  12. I wish I could get a LT255/80 17E is something other than BF Goodrich's Mudders. I'd settle for a LT245/85 or 80 17E also. Gotta be in a AT tire and not a highway or mud tire though. You's guys with 16's are lucky you've got the selection you do in tires!!!
  13. Much of it is about gas/fuel tax dollars rolling in. If they get "too" many high mileage vehicles that can haul stuff, revenue goes down. And we all know politicians can't do without other folks money!!!! It's also because of EPA regs. In Europe, they have clean air standards for vehicles like here, but they check it in a different way, or look for different stuff. Our Cummins in the 4th gen would be phenominal if they'd go to the urea system like they did in the C&C models!!!! Must make just "TOO MUCH SENSE" to do that though!!!!
  14. Just got home from doggy stuff this AM. Filled up at the cheap station close to the house......$3.49 by the way. Filled Mighty Whitey up with 32.003 gallons, and had 682.5 miles on the tank of fuel!!! I called it 32 even and 682 even when I did the math; but that comes out to 21.03MPG!!!This was the first full tank running the SpynTec free spin hubs also. I also had about 150 towing miles on this tank. I didn't go to that seminar in Indiana on Saturday; instead, I wound up going to Door County, Wisconsin for a funeral mass instead. Same miles, different direction. Up and back, same day. Truck ran great, new hubs stayed cool and got good mileage.
  15. Yeah, you kinda get the good of both with the 3.73.........not the best of both!!
  16. You're burning your oil away in the cylinders IMHO. My best guess would be the piston rings or valve guides seeing you said the turbo was fine. Either way, not a cheap fix.
  17. I believe Lake Ontario is the smallest of the Great Lakes. Come further West and check out Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, and Lake Superior!!!!! I live about 15 miles West of Lake Michigan.
  18. Russ, I love that scooter you've got. Every time I see a picture of it, I wanna see you pulling a "wheelie" on it!!!!All that said:.........guys, I tow most everyday. Granted, it's just my work trailer, and it only goes about 3500lbs.!! Small compared to what y'all tow, but I'm towing this bad boy most everyday of the week. I can almost guarantee that my truck (with almost 170k miles) has more "trailer towing" miles than most everyone here. Save for CajFlynn of course!!!
  19. I replaced the serpentine belt on Mighty Whitey at 100,000 miles. The OEM was still good so I kept it as an emergency spare back up!! Don't recall what brand the new one was though. Almost 170k now.
  20. You must remember, I'm twice your age.............just trying to keep you from doing the stupid stuff I did at your age!!!!! Maybe!!!:lmao:I suppose there ain't too much difference in riding broncs than doing it yourself on a motorcycle without benefit of a critter to blame!!!! Just saying!!!
  21. Will the old pump run if you "hot wire" it???!!If so, I would tend to think that it's not the pump itself!!
  22. Had a chance to "open her up" this evening. Got her up to 100mph, and she drove as smooth as silk!!!Prior the truck would want to track straight at speed...............not stupidly................but now she's very responsive............quicker I mean!! That 140lbs. not spinning does have an effect!!That's all!!
  23. Probably would've gotten "hung up" with one of the other diesels!!
  24. Any more "Evil Knievel" stunts planned for the near future???:lmao2:You've got to be pretty well healed up from the last wreck!!!
