IAT and MAP sensor
Wow, talk about one hijacked thread! :lol:Anyways, since I have a moment, I will tell you that O'reilly's had an IAT I used to compare mine to and even using a DMM on their sensor, it was still the same as mine. Could not get anything to read.. So, with my grid heaters working and the WTS light working, I will say my IAT sensor is good.I suppose I'm gonna have to further evaluate my situation in relation to my bad mpgs...I got 16mpg's last fill up. Was about a 50/50 city/highway driving. I'm getting about 300 miles to 1/2 a tank.

IAT and MAP sensor
Alright, so I rechecked the IAT sensor with the DMM and still got nothing for an ohm reading. I even checked to see if it had continuity and it did not say it had it. Isn't the sensor supposed to provide continuity? Even if the sensor is stil functioning, what about it reading inaccurately and it says the air is really colder than it is and does not change? That would create an overfuel condition, would it not?

IAT and MAP sensor
Okay, so I have been wondering if my sensors were any good. So, I only managed to pull my IAT sensor and it only looked a little dirty. Nothing like what mike has in his pictures.I was gonna use a DMM to measure the ohms according to the temp. and I could not even get a reading from it. I checked the DMM and the DMM is fine. Is the IAT sensor bad?I did not have a socket to pull the MAP sensor. I need to go buy one but I'm confused about the size. Its definitely not 1 1/16".So I called o'reilly's and they quoted me $30 for the IAT sensor and $114 for the MAP sensor!Anyone also know if I can get these for cheaper? Would either one of them cause my mpg's to fall as well??

Anyone an electrician or inclined?
Alright boys, I got my meat saw running! Last weekend I brought it up to the in-laws for processing the beef. Got it all cleaned and lubed up to use. Decided we would turn the 25ft extension cord into a 220 cord. Although we had to hardwire the motor to the cord cause the switch would not work. So I gotta figure out what is going on with that.Boyo! That saw did wonders helping cut up the cow! Now, we get to sit and enjoy some great grass fed beef! Cooked up a t-bone steak on the bbq for our first meal. WOW!

If thats the case then, then what the heck do you need to be able to pull something like this? http://www.bluedogrv.com/showroom/Dutchmen-RV/Voltage/Toy-Hauler-Fifth-Wheels.aspx 2012 Voltage V3950

Alright, looking at the diagram, I'm not comprehending it. It says to do this and that if I use 220, but what the heck is it supposed to be set up like if its 110?

RV275, Blue Chip Injection pump, and now a new engine habbit
The differentiation in idle from park, drive, to neutral is due to the fact that when in drive, you have a slight load on the engine than when compared to it being in park or neutral. As for the truck dying when put into park, I had that once as well. Although, I never touched my vp44 beore it happened. You did. I have a theory, I have not touched the vp44 before so I'm unaware of what kind of connection is made to it from where. But, I'm wondering if the connection was not made fully. Maybe put some di-electric grease on the connections and try again. When it happened to me, it threw a code. Something about no comm. with the ecm.

Terrible MPG
Man, I tell ya, something is gong awry. I done alot to get my truck into excellent running condition. The truck practically is "brand new". The list is long with what I have done to the truck. The most extreme of things I have not yet done are replacing the vp44, tps, turbo, etc.Over the course of a few monhs, my mileage has dropped significantly. I was averaging about 18-20 mpg right after I replaced my injectors. But now, my mileage has dipped down to as low as 14mpg on avg!I don't understand what this could be stemming from? I have not noticed any drastic change in performance in the truck and have not had a CEL. Granted, I can scan for codes tomorrow and check just to be safe. Its crazy that I have dropped abut 4-6mpg on avg. so drastically. This is a big concern to me as it makes me wonder if my vp44 is finally taking an unannounced poop...The least drastic thing that I can only seem to entertain is cleaning the MAP and IAT sensors. But you would not think that if they were THAT dirty it drop the mileage that much?!ALSO, I will admit that I also have not been gentle on the skinny pedal. BUT, since the drop in mileage, I have driven like a grandma. Despite this change in driving habit, my mpg has not changed. Even highway and city, the mpg only differs by about 1 mpg.

towing capacity
ugh, I'm not thrilled bout those numbers... I really thought I could tow/haul more then that. I put cordwood in the bed green and have towed a forklift and trailer at 13k lbs. That don't seem like I'm gonna be able to tow much of a trailer... Looks like I should have gotten a 1 ton! :banghead:

What's Going To Happen To Us, The U.S.A. you Guys?
The problem is not necessarily that our govt. leaders are out of control. They are a kind of people that just cannot be fixed. Our problem is actually, "We the people". We are the problem. We need to be fixed, and we can be fixed. Its just what is going to trigger this is the question. If you want to see change in our leaders and govt., we need to be the once to receive the fixing. Until we come together as a nation and RISE UP and deal with this parasite, nothing will change. What will it take to make this happen?...that is our foremost relevant issue.

towing capacity
Okay, so someone clarify this for me. When I had the transmission guy rebuild my tranny, he asked me how much I wanna tow. I told him in the range of 12k pounds, IIRC.Now, according to the picture above, I can handle 16 to 18k stock? If so, is that the weight of something I can tow given I do not exceed axle ratings? Or is that the cumulative total of the truck, and trailer?Seems like you would not be able to haul or tow much with a 3/4 ton truck if that was the case.

What's Going To Happen To Us, The U.S.A. you Guys?
To refer to the OP's statements, in a nutshell, we are heading down. We are being flushed down the drain and going to hell in a handbasket. My response may not be very popular, and in fact, won't be. But, personally, with what gray matter I have in existence between my two ears, its all biblical. The USA is following exactly what Soddom and Gamorrah did. We no longer acknowledge God anywhere, and we are pushing him out of every aspect of our lives. In doing so, a judgement by God for this act is to become homosexual. WHOOOA! Crazy? But its not... Did God make you ***? No... You chose it. But you reap what you sow. God is dealing with us as a nation. We are experiencing chastisement for our actions against him. He is not over with us, yet. If we choose to go down the same path we are going down, we will be judged. You do not want judgement... I want to be alongside everyone here ranting and raving about our politicians and crooked this and crooked that, but it all has to start with, "We the People" once again. I know, why should WE have to do anything when thats all we have been "doing"? Well, if we don't get this under control, no one is going to stop this redheaded step-child from kicking and screaming for more money for their candy. No matter what you do and no matter how hard you try, you will not succeed if you do not have the Good Lord on your side. If you do the will of God, you will be victorous. But if you do anything without him, you will not bear the victory like you ought to. It all starts in your own heart. Be honest with yourself. Do you really think that if you had obtained this money, wealth, power as these people did, you would be any different? Don't kid yourself. There are very few kings that have ruled rightously in their years and did what a King should have done; to rule over his people. Not with his foot on their neck, but with a loving hand, a compassion for the wellbeing of his people. I guarantee you, we will not ever accomplish any revolution of any sort to change our country and bring it back on course unless we start with ourselves and turn to God for salvation. Genesis 8:21 "...though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood." ...like I said, probably will be an unpopular post. ...and thats why there is no change.

Anyone an electrician or inclined?
Alright gang, I decided to dig this up instead of reposting a new thread. I figure we would leave off where we once were. So, I had the neighbor look at the saw as he is an electrician. But hes an old boy so hes in bed early. I don't like bothering him much either. But I did manage to get him to look at it for me. Came to the conclusion like ISX. It was wired 230.The cable had the 2 hots and the braided steel was the ground. We concluded that going 110 would be better idea for me. So I picked up an extension cord to handle he rated amps for the saw.I hooked the cord up according to the motor plate. The ground was connected to a mounting bolt for the motor.I tried to get it going and upon pushing the switch to start it, I get nothing. Not even a slight hum or any draw whatsoever from it.I'm out of ideas as to what it could be. I'm wondering if the transformer needs to be re-configured at all per the schematics? I'll try and get my neighbor over tomorrow too if I can...

Ugh, I can't remember if I have 4.10's or 3.55's...I hope to get something in the ball park decent enough and still be able to tow. I plan on trying to keep the loaded weight down to minimun during moves with keeping the fresh, gray and black water empty.I'll have to find a scale to get weighed on..

towing capacity
Hey guys, with me being in the occupation I'am in at the moment, its possible I will end up having to travel for my work. Been thinking about a 5th wheel for this sort of thing, but I have been having a hard time tracking down any information on this.I had at one point had some info, but I can't remember where I got it. I do understand that towing capacities is not the only number to go off of, but it would still be helpful to get the data I need to make an informed decision if I decide to go ahead and get a 5th wheel.

Boot waterproofer
Alright, guys! So the results are partially in! Got that beeswax oil combo made up and slathered my boots with it. Took a heat gun and warmed them up. Once the compound got to the melting point, the leather sucked it up. Once it cooled, they are WATERPROOF! :hyper:I sprayed some water on them and they never sucked up a single drop! Except, the only drawback is that now my foot sweat soaks the inside. But a good bootdryer will solve that problem after a long days work...Still have yet to try that tallow...

Thanks for the invite! I would love to take a trip down yonder and meet you two someday. We have a tombstone to visit someday down south in Idaho Falls IIRC, and my grandma in Reno, NV. Gotta make an excuse to go, somehow! lol...

Boot waterproofer
Thanks for the response guys. I have heard of the sno-seal before and once again happened upon it again doing a little more research last night. I pretty much assumed that multiple and occassional application is always going to be necessary.I yielded myself a quart of beeswax/oil last night after making it. I spent $7.50 on .5lb of local beeswax and a quart of mineral oil. Pretty cheap to make and tried applying some last night. Looks like its gonna do a great job. I had to add alot of mineral oil to the wax, though. Looks like it helped make it more "flexible".What is always so amazing to me, is that bees are such a useful creature. The concoction I made last night can serve me more than just a purpose in waterproofing... Bees are awesome! ..now, what to do with this stinky tallow. I thought about putting a wick in it and just making it an emergency candle.

Hmm, where are you going with this?

Boot waterproofer
Alright, so I started the arguous journey of trying to find the right waterproofer for my leather boots. Its been a while now, and I'm not sure if I found the trick.I've tried a couple commercially available products such as kiwi dry and silicon-guard. Applying them per instruction, they fail to repel water adequately, IMO.So, I decided to pursue a more "natural" method to achieving this. I recently was able to acquire tallow from 4 deer carcasses. I rendered out the fat and yielded a quart. It was not perfect, so it has a smell to it, but I can tolerate it.Being what kind of man my father in law is, he told me it would not work. As he said that it would rot out the leather on my boots. :banghead: I have not yet tried the tallow on my boots to see if it works, but my co-worker told me he bought some bear fat for his boots and it works great. I have been unable to either kill myself a bear nor acquire any fat, so its outta my reach, for now.So my father in law says he used to use beeswax and mineral oil. I got me a pint of it made up right now, trying to experiment with the ratio of wax to oil.Anyone done any of this themselves?

I have more than to give on the current issues at hand. I just don't feel like writing a book. I will say that I voted, and for the first time as well! I did not get registered in time before the 2008 election. I voted for Mitt, as I knew it was the only useful vote. I agree with Mike, though. IMO, Neither are good enough to be president. I would rather of had Ron Paul to be the closest for president. I ordered a video-series called, "Constitutional Literacy" by Michael Farris. Its 8hrs and 20mins long. 5-discs! They are broken down into "episodes" and each cover an issue or point. Each day, I will atleast watch 1 until done. With the amount of knowledge that has been shed in just the first three I have been able to watch so far, it would make your head explode! Its amazing... 7th grade was the only time I was ever educated about American history and the founding. To this day, I still think about whether or not my teacher is still there and how I wish I could go back and personally thank him. Heres the site if anyone wants to consider buying their own series: http://www.constitutionreclaimed.com/ I know I will be using it to educate my children if I ever have them someday.- Vote 2012
