  1. Dodge did in the 70's... no wait, that was the front fenders rusting through! I told my sister, I have the ultimate golf 'driver'... gives new meaning to "Play through!" http://s122.photobucket.com/user/fleeting_cat/media/MVI_1949.mp4.html?sort=3&o=31 Yes, it is golf ball bore. Grown up delinquents...
  2. Mopar in my blood too. Family owned a dealership (Fred W Smith Chrysler Dodge, established in 1916) gave up the franchise but is still around as antique, classic & used cars run by an inlaw. But my folks preferred Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge & bought even when out of state. Mom had a *Dodge 9 passenger wagon with fins! Then there was a *64 Chrysler, my *68 RoadRunner, *68 Chrysler (bought 1 year old), a* Dodge step side with a slant 6 work truck, I inherited Mom's 97 Cirrus (my daily driver). There were also a few random Fords scattered in there... a *59 Ford Fairlane (I wrecked Christmas week in 1967), a couple of *Escorts, his & hers *Taurus's that Mom & Dad traded in at 6 months because they didn't like them Dad never said but I think it cost them a lot to trade. (Dad had retired from Philco during the period when Ford owned them & had a Ford retirement... could get employees discount.)
  3. thanks for the links. all the lighter duty stop at 7'6". Useful to know.
  4. We have one on the ATV, lol! Wife went through (soaked) 3 sets of insulated ski clothes this last storm. I've long wanted to put a plow on this truck. Then I could plow from the heated cab & still a much bigger cut than ATV.
  5. I want to get a snow plow for my truck (came with plow package). My truck is L-O-N-G so not ideal but I own it. I have a couple of long runs so need full angle. How big a blade to I really need to push the snow outside the wheel track? Contrary to commercial plowing where a wider cut is time & time is money... in tight quarters a smaller blade has advantages. I'd like a poly plow to get the no rust (at least on that part) and lighter weight but cost is a big factor too. I'd need a spare set of rims & serious winter tires...
  6. Some of the photos show fog lights... others not... How old are the pictures? Just saying...
  7. I have Dad's old table saw... the kind that will fling an errant piece of wood clear out of the barn. Probably errant fingers too!
  8. I've not liked the way the truck has tracked for a year or more... around 70K original miles. My front end shop said I had a TRE getting bad so going to do 3rd Gen track bar and align it once. My truck came with the 265/75R16 on factory alloy wheels I'm running (still legal tread).
  9. I have limited slip axles & any turn except on something really slippery will cause the driveline to bind up... and unable to get it out of 4High then. have to reverse the maneuver to unstess the binding to shift the transfer case. In some cases it will hop like a bunny!
  10. I found CPP kit http://www.cumminsperformanceparts.com/2ndgento3rdg.html Only works with up to 3" lift but I'm stock height. I'm liking the all complete price. $360 with free shipping (lower 48).
  11. Can anybody say definitively if a new bracket is required to do a 3rd Gen track bar on a Second Gen? In my case 01.5?
  12. I wonder if cap gasket tape would work ok to seal the edges but allow for removal?
  13. Is this kit listed above Mopar Part 52122362AF STEERING the right one for Second Gen (2001.5) 4X4? Thanks! I am tired of fighting to keep it tracking constantly. I looked at the diagram... thought a new frame bracket is required??
  14. Sister In Law has a son, just graduated HS. Never had a job, so far no money need but gees, his Mom has a disability & this kid isn't smart enough to shovel what the paid plow man can't behind the cars (in front of the garage doors!) Earlier this winter, Nit-Wit left his car out as usual before a big snow storm, plow guy came in the early morning, had to plow around it... What did he think was going to happen? Kid learned to put his car in the garage when it's going to snow. I want one of those snow-burners! How about a pipe burner on the front of my ATV?? (Get rid of the weeds too! LOL!!)
  15. I have trouble holding on to things in that hand but not because of the missing length. Before the MS claimed the dexterity it was interesting trying to feel a nut or something. I knew it was there but really could not feel it.
  16. Ditto. I had a warped rear rotor. The shop I used couldn't find it but charged me plenty each time. I took it somewhere else & they replaced one rear rotor, problem solved.
  17. I did a pretty good job on a finger (yeah, that finger) with a manual propeller shaft puller. Screw the shaft puller on where the propeller comes off. Shaft was 8 feet long & one stands over it & throws the weight down the shaft as hard as possible. The weight... about 10#... was larger than the stop so theoretically it should be impossible to get your fingers in the works. Notice I said "theoretically". The purpose of this tool is to get the damaged propeller shaft out of the press fit (when new) coupling on the back of the transmission. Picture a GIANT dent puller... I never felt any pain but the doctors said I was in shock by the time we drove to the ER just across the highway from our Marina. My brother looked as bad as I did on arrival & the docs were not sure which of us was the patient. Stupid ER nurse... told her what I did, that it was crushed/broke. Nope, had to xray. Xray comes back... it's broke. Duhh! ER doc suggests amputating the mangled mess. They can't reach the orthopedic Doc. My mother goes outside & gets the Orthopedic Doc who lives next door... could not hear his pager with his lawn mower running. The Ortho took a chunk of meat from my inner arm to graft on, bandaged up for 3 weeks. What took, took & the rest was gone. Actually it was still on the puller in the shop. No one else would go near it. Unwrapping the gauze was interesting with hydrogen peroxide & tweasers... I miss those days!! Working outside with my bro...
  18. Agree... I have Multiple Sclerosis, my own set of problem... but there are always those worse off. Better to be grateful for what we have.
  19. Mine was about a year & a half from the filing... but the the money was gone before she pushed me out (or she would have continued to sucker play me). Little to fight over. We'd taken the income from my house (owned, rented out) to improve hers (signed to daughter w/ life lease)... so I got to walk away. She did manage to screw me on a few things... not in a good way... It is my observation that no one ever gets as much as they deserve (or think they do). Never. In my state a separate property settlement is encouraged. It is just that. Not as much as you want or deserve but what you are willing to settle for. In a sense, it's a game of chicken... holding out can cost more or possibly get you a little more. But how bad do you want it to be over? I gave up some property that I should not have (considering everything else)... but in the end it was worth it. I figure "I won". How do I figure that? Because I got it over & done with so I could begin the long healing process.
  20. Mike, hope this isn't hijacking your thread too much... If so split it off into another thread... Another forum I'm on... deals with Powerchairs, Scooters & such mobility devises. (Give credit where due: http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ) So rather than use the slow, overnight "dumb" charger with 110V input.... there are high tech "hobby chargers" which can be programed to fast charge vitually any battery...LI, LiPO4, SLA, RV, Truck/auto. To do this I'd need to rewire the scooter & install plugs... and build matching cord for the smart charger. The smart charger can power off 12VDC directly. This would allow me to fast charge off the RV battery bank & charge the RV at different times... including solar though I don't think I want the extra baggage for my purposes.
  21. I was at a primitive encampment... historic house is now just off a main road. A deer got hit, car got towed, Police called it in to DEM who assigned a volunteer to come pick it up. We knew the guy who showed up & invited him into camp for venison stew. The least we could do after wasting his trip... venison was already cut up & in the pot!
  22. Is your draw straw installed IN the strainer basket of the original pickup? Does the AD return also go into the basket? The AD will draw more than the OEM strainer will flow if the return is outside the basket & can lead to drawing air even with fuel in the tank. Either both in or both out or pop the screens out of the basket. Another common error is measuring the tank for the draw straw with the tank sitting on the floor. The bottom of the tank will deflect resulting in a bad measurement, a wrong cut on the draw straw & drawing air with fuel in the tank. The recent draw straw quick connect fittings have been problematic... failing & drawing air. Likewise there can be suction line failures... rusted out lines for instance. Unfortunately it requires accessing the tank.
  23. I had this same set up. Used once & sold it. WHY? My trailer has 3 group 24 RV/Marine wet cells for DC power. The solar worked pretty well... but I was not set up to charge my big mobility scooter from the solar. The mobility scooter runs on 24 volts... and needs to be charged when not in use... Our RV use is at primitive encampments... where we must park on the outskirts (parking lot). I have the scooter hidden in (primitive) camp during the daylight hours... I thought about using the inverter to charge but the scooter's OEM charger is a slow overnight type charger. My best option was to charge from the small generator 110v every 2-3 mornings from 7-10AM. Charging the RV was incidental to charging the scooter so I opted to de-clutter my set up & sold the panels. Since we are in primitive camp most of the time... we ran the refrigerator (controls), furnace some nights, hot water, a few lights. The fridge was the main deal.
  24. It was a while ago... I hit a patch of black ice on a secondary route... in 2WD under light acceleration... probably no more than 35. It was right at a Y in the road with a large paved area. Truck was totally sideways, I turned into the skid & got it straight before & ran out of road. Definitely a "Underwear!" moment. You glad you & yours are OK.
  25. I've not been happy with the way my truck tracks when towing... Had it out the other day as the Cirrus was in the shop... and I had to stay on top of it as it wanted to wander. Only 63,000Miles. Last time the Dodge was on the lift, my front end guy said he thought (I think) a TRE was getting sloppy. I want this to track good. I don't tow a lot but when I do, It's heavy! What exactly is the best front end upgrade? I'll have to explain it to my guy. He seems to be conservative about big expensive overhauls.
