Back to the VP for a second... Was that not a typical P0216 failure?- Bought Me a First Gen
I'm slacking on the updates. The NV4500 is in, and seems to be doing good. 2 weeks ago I bought a BW S362/68/.70 SX-E, and I installed that last night. Things are coming together performance wise. I still need to add timing, and do lots of pump tuning, but it runs strong. Pics and videos to come soon.- Fuel Pressure Gauge needed on 12 Valves too
The Hungry Diesel offers 12 PSI and 15 PSI pumps. And of course you can play with springs yourself to get desired pressure. Mine runs 16 PSI. No problems, and none of Eric's customers report problems with that much pressure.- Fuel Pressure Gauge needed on 12 Valves too
You still need a needle valve inline... Works as a shutoff in case of a leak, and more importantly, a snubber to dampen injection pump pulses. Bosch specs are 3-10 PSI. Stock diaphragm pumps will put out no more than 6 PSI, maybe 7 with no load and high RPM. Have you looked into the Cummins piston pumps? I have the Hungry Diesel's piston pump kit, which can also be had cheaper if you source the parts individually. Those pumps are still made in China, but there's been hardly any problems reported, with thousands being used. I'm running about 16 PSI with my pump. I can pull it down to 5ish on a WOT run with big honkin injectors. And @Jolsen, personally l don't see any reason for doing a fuel boss on a 12 valve, considering they use a fully mechanical block mounted pump, driven by the cam.- Need water pump, where to get one
I needed one ASAP, so I went to Oreilly and got a Gates. (Made in USA) If it fails prematurely, I'll get a Cummins pump.- Wait to start
Test for excessive AC noise, and get ready for a new alternator as well. I'm experiencing the same thing, and need to get on the ball... I've been procrastinating.- Bought Me a First Gen
Did you see the one the guy had custom built over on Cummins Forum? (he may post it on other forums, I don't know) If not, I'll post a link.- Time for a new clutch.
Which part #? Did you get the HD hydraulics? Can't go wrong with Valair. If it's an organic clutch, it should have good towing manners.- Bought Me a First Gen
Haven't done anything since I put the injectors in, except change a wheel cylinder, and drive the dang thing. This truck is a blast to drive now, even with it still being restricted by the HX35. Lots of power, yet easily daily-driveable with no smoke, and absolutely no EGT issues. It will black out the sun if I make it, but it's easily controllable with the right foot. And fuel mileage has not changed. I'm saving up for a 62 SX-E. I thought I would buy one with my tax return, but thanks to (expletive) Obama, what tax return??? The NV4500 is going in this weekend. Hopefully all goes smooth with that, and I don't have to pull it out for a while. Hoping to have a video or two soon.- Bought Me a First Gen
Well after pulling the Getrag twice last September when I rebuilt it, I told myself the next time I pulled it, an NV4500 was going in... Well, the Getrag needs pulled soon, so I ordered an NV4500 with a conversion kit, and it showed up today. Sometime in the next few weeks, that will go in. Yesterday I installed my Hungry Diesel 6x.013" injectors, flowed to 81 LPM (stock is 40 LPM) and set at 260 BAR. These are waay too much for an HX35, but with a light foot, smoke is manageable and EGT's are not even close to being an issue. I have A LOT of tuning to do though. Timing is set at at roughly stock right now, and the starwheel is pretty close to the bottom, so I can easily clean it up for DDing. I'm babying it for a week, so see what kind of MPG I can get. Haven't romped it yet... I'm skeered. But I will say, getting on the interstate at 1/4 throttle feels the same as 1/2 throttle, before the injectors.- Push lock fittings with hose clamp
I've never seen one. I would use a brass 90* (female threads) with 1/2" push-locks. And no I don't.- Bought Me a First Gen
Got on the dyno today. Made 282HP/692 ft/lbs torque. Still on stock injectors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZrFICczbDY&t=218s Run 1 (pink) was with the stock fuel pin. (O/D) Run 3 (green) was stock pin, in 4th gear. Run 4 (orange) was The Hungry Diesel pin. (O/D) Run 5 (blue) was THD pin, and KSB on for more timing. (O/D) Did 282HP/692 ft/lbs. I think it coulda done better with an 1/8" timing bump, IDK. HX35 was gated to 35 PSI, and max RPM was 3,400. Hit 1,200* EGT for just a second. Only fatality was the FSS. I also noticed some fuel in the AFC after those runs. I've heard nothing but good about the dyno at Relentless Diesel, so I feel confident in the numbers.- Bought Me a First Gen
New gauges are in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8_vqWErG78&feature=youtu.be Still need to come way out on the boost elbow... Made 41 PSI on the new gauge.- Bought Me a First Gen
Little update... Got some new tires. 265/75/16 Pathfinder A/T's, so far I like the traction, but fuel mileage has suffered a little. Vacuum pump seal started leaking oil, and the carrier bearing needs replaced again. Need to fix those soon. I added an Isspro Classic series 4K tachometer to the steering column. I have Isspro boost, pyro, fuel pressure gauges going in this week, in place of my older banks gauges. I talked to Eric at The Hungry Diesel today, and ordered a set of his "custom" 6x.013" injectors. Those should be sweet, and a turbo upgrade should come shortly after. Little video I shot today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvSAg5eyxC0&feature=youtu.be- Morning Pic For Today...........Post A Pic around your place.....

Update??- Perplexing....
Millions of years is a theory in itself...- Perplexing....
I just want to know how "they" were recording those temperatures all those millions of years ago.- Bought Me a First Gen
Little update: Long story short, I decided against rebuilding that core Getrag I bought. I got it fully disassembled, and it needed everything. Only usable part was the gear case. That was $2,000 worth of parts, sourced from the cheapest sources I could find. For a few hundred more dollars, I could have a rebuilt NV4500 and swap kit. I almost pulled the trigger on that upgrade, but part of me wanted to push the Getrag and see how long it would last. So I put a roller bearing kit, and new seals in the Getrag that's in my truck, along with a Valair 400 HP organic clutch I bought a while back. Ended up pulling the trans twice, thanks to an odd pressure plate noise I have yet to figure out. Seems like it's curing itself though, and hasn't given me any trouble. Got a couple hundred miles on it now, and it seems to be doing okay. I'm slowly building up some courage to mash the go pedal.- Truck stolen
They even left the light bar. Those were some dumb crooks.- RPM Matching when Shifting
Because G56...- Truck stolen
YESSSSSS!!! I'm so glad you got it back! I seriously thought that truck woulda been in a chop shop in no time, and no trace of it left.- Truck stolen
Any word on insurance cooperation?- Truck stolen
Tyler, my heart literally sank when I read this. I can't imagine how sick you must be. I'm keeping my eyes peeled. I know SE Texas is a looong way away, but anything is possible. I hope in the end, everything works out in your favor. - Teardown and Rebuild
