  1. Can I ask why you prefer it over the others? Price? Quality?
  2. This might be a silly question but what does everyone prefer? I can get either the Amsoil at my store or the Mobile 1 full synthetic. They are both the same price for me to buy it.
  3. I think there is just a plug in it. I havent heard of anything else being used there. On second though, could that port be used to apply air pressure while trying to diagnose boost leaks? You would just need something to plug off the air intake on the turbo but that might be easier than making a connector to fit on the turbo. It would be real easy to find fittings to put into the manifold there.
  4. I do think it is rather silly that kids had to sleep on the school bus because there was 3 inches of snow on the ground. People stayed in their cars for like 16 hours because they couldnt get home!!! The schools are here dont even get a 2 hour delay for 3 inches of snow!!!
  5. Ok guys. I am looking at getting this stuff here for my oil change coming up. This is the stuff, correct? http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/diesel/premium-api-cj-4-synthetic-5w-40-diesel-oil/?code=DEOQT-EA
  6. I agree with Tom. They had better not charge you anything because they havent done anything.
  7. I resurface flywheels at my store so I can take care of that. My buddy works for the county as a truck mechanic and is going to let me use the county's shop so I should have all the jacks, lifts, tools that I need. Is it hard to do the seals? I would assume the tranny one just pops out and you pop a new one in but what about the crank?
  8. Well, I guess if anything its better than tapping into the wire. Less exposed and a cleaner look. DAP just specified that the wire couldnt be tapped. They also sell the stealth plate so I would assume they would have specified against using the plate if that would void the warranty too.
  9. Ok guys. Update!! I am ordering this clutch today. http://www.dieselautopower.com/product-p/valair%20org-fslash-org%20nmu70279-01.htm I am getting with a buddy and we are going to change it out in an upcoming weekend. My question to you guys, what should I be prepared for once I open this thing up? What should I do while I am in there? I have heard of people with problems with the clutch fork, is that something I should be worried about? I am just trying to make this job go as smoothly as possible and save myself some money by doing it myself.
  10. Would they be able to tell that the stealth plate was on there? Isnt that the point of a "stealth" plate? Not to be seen?
  11. Yeehaw. Finally you get some snow.
  12. That actually happened because it is to warm up there. Nothing was able to build a good solid base in this warm weather they are having and this is the result from it. My old store manager used to be an outside salesman based out of Wasilla, AK and traveled the highway in that video once a week. Just crazy.
  13. Dont think anyone makes a pod for our trucks. I have seen some pods that mount on either side of the console along the top edge of the windshield but they were some off brand on ebay. Dont know how good they would be or if you could still use the visor.
  14. If you do want to run both, try running a 3x3 instead of the 3x5 on the comp. That will get rid of some of that extra fuel. Maybe even try a 4x3 to get some extra timing. The timing will help clean it up a bit.
  15. Well I am glad I'm not the only one around here with this problem
  16. I could be wrong but I think the 56 are the Mexican blocks and are the thickest. I think anything but a 53 block and you should be ok. Check with local junk yards for wrecked trucks. Also the classified ads over on CF usually have a ton of part outs and that kind of stuff. You should be able to find something fairly easily. I feel for ya man. This really sucks and I havent ever gotten to see it first hand. Hope something comes together for ya.
  17. Was -19 when I left for work this morning. Hanging right around -16 with the wind chill at a toasty -38.
  18. The seals should be a #28754. The inner bearing set is a #SET407. The outer bearing set is a #BR38. These are SKF numbers by the way so anyone should be able to cross reference them for you to their brands.
  19. Yep. Regular green stuff and just exchange it every 30,000 miles or so. You should be good!
  20. I do have a coolant reservoir!! Wow I wonder how long that thing has been there??
  21. I have heard this as well. When I rented the smarty from DAP last week I had it stacked with my comp. I have never felt such a complete power band since I have owned the truck. It just pulled clean through from idle all the way past 2500 rpms. It was amazing.
  22. I am not sure I even have a coolant reservoir. Whenever I do anything with the coolant its just right at the radiator cap. Maybe it was an option or something.
  23. I would actually like to relocate to western Montana to be perfectly honest. Used to go camping around Missoula and Flathead lake once in a while. I like being deep in the mountains with tons of tall trees. Much like mike I think.
  24. Oh you are right. My bad on confusing you You use the odd numbered presets so you can get fuel and timing. That should keep the smoke down a bit.
