Oh man. I really miss the mountains. It is so ungodly flat out here in eastern ND.

If you increase the fueling, you should increase the timing a little bit to help get rid of the extra fuel. Use the odd numbered preset tunes will give fuel and timing. The even numbered tunes will just give you extra fuel. Try using the even numbers and see how that helps.

Ok. I think I need to build a boost leak tester because I have never checked for leaks on this truck since I have owned it (2 years). As far as I know it has all the stock boots and clamps. Going on 215,000 miles, I could have a leak contributing to the EGT's too.

I wonder if you couldnt just buy that part of the factory harness and plug it in. Probably have to get one out a wrecked truck or something like that though.

This is the first thing we noticed when we moved out here. In WA, it is almost impossible to find any kind of job. It was especially difficult for anyone under 18 years old. We got here and every single business had a now hiring sign in the window. I jumped in to a store manager's position for a local auto parts store at age 20!!!

So for those of you who use an exhaust brake with the 3 cylinder fast idle, what EGT do you usually run? I just used my 3cyl and exhaust brake and my egts got up to about 1100* and may have kept climbing if I left it on. I shut the exhaust brake off and it came back down to about 800-900*. I know my EGT's have been a little higher than normal running the #1 fuel. What do you guys think?

My buddy lives in Wasilla, AK and works in Anchorage, AK. He said its only gotten below freezing a handful of times this year. They still have only gotten about a foot of snow total this winter. Thats not enough.

Ok. I guess I didnt realize there was a custom option like that. That opens a whole new array of mounting options. Now I have to reconsider which one I want to buy. Thanks guys....

Ever since I bought my truck 2 years ago, the light always comes on at 1/8th tank. If I fill up as soon as the light comes on, its almost exactly 10 gallons left. Mainly I just figure about how much mpg's I am making and go by that. So if I average 21 mpg's on the highway, I should be able to make at least 700 miles to the tank.

Glad you got her figured out! All it takes is some patience once in a while and now you're back in business!!

Leave the elbow in. Like said above, all it does is allow for more boost. As long as you arent racing or building ridiculous amounts of boost pressure you should be fine even without a fooler if you didnt want to get one.

Which one just has the flat plate? Or do all of them?

At first I was just talking to the service advisor. When I started asking him to look up the TSB and all that he backed out because "he doesnt know anything about the computer flashing". So then I started talking to the tech and didnt get very far. I even had the TSB printed out and everything. He wanted to know where I got it because it was incorrect. He wouldnt even try the procedure. After a couple of minutes arguing, he backed my truck out of the shop and said have a nice day. :banghead:

I need to get me a smarty. Holy crap that thing woke the truck up. I just had it on the preset level 4 and stacked with the comp it felt like it had twice as much low end torque.

Ok thanks for checking. That would be really cool if we wouldnt have to cut that big hole. I dont know if to many people will feel comfortable doing it.

I am actually driving to colorado springs, CO for a weekend. Its gonna be a long weekend but I love those long drives!! Should be about 2200 miles in one weekend. I think I will go with the synthetic since I wont be there very long.

Awesome write up!! I have a quick question though. Would the switch fit in the compartment where the garage door opener would go? I would just drill the hole in the center of that compartment door right where the garage button is. I am not using a garage door opener anyway....

We are back in blizzard country again. Cant see the buildings across the street and holding about -10 f. They are talking like we should be seeing -30 again by tomorrow morning!!!! Oh ya and 30mph winds on top of it for at least another few more days.

Thanks for the input everyone. Gonna get some 0w40 in and see how it runs with that maybe. I can get all kinds of brands at my store so I will probably go by price. I think the amsoil is probably cheapest.

Ok. Should I go straight to a 0w40? Or would a 5w40 be ok? Spending this much money on oil I just want to get the best fit the first time.

I am running the stock fleetguard filter. Not sure how well the bypass is set up in it but I think I have decided to change over to synthetic. Now, which brands should I look at?
