  1. You can also check out Diesel Auto Power. Great people and and really good prices.
  2. This might be a silly question, did you clear the codes after you installed the new sender? Dont mean to offend or anything.
  3. I still havent gotten my fooler yet :banghead: but I just did a 2400 mile trip last weekend and just shoved a 2.2k ohm resister in the IAT plug. I can tell you I gained at least 4 mpg's. This whole winter I have been averaging about 17 and every tank this weekend I was at about 22 mpg's!! That was hand calculated using GPS. I didnt do anything else special, ran 70 mph (1800 rpm's) the whole time. It is pretty flat out here so that helped too. Must have just found that sweet spot.
  4. Yep. Just either call or go online to DAP in the electronics section for our trucks. You can either outright buy the smarty tuner, or rent one. The rental works like this.. You pay full price for the tuner, they send it to ya, you flash your truck (then return to stock tune), package it back up, put the provided return label back on the box, and send it back whatever way it was sent to you (Fedex,UPS, US Post, etc.), then they just credit back everything but $60 to your credit card. It is a lot easier done than said really. They are some great folk that work down there and would be very helpful if you called. The whole process was very painless and I never had to go to the stealership. Shipping is totally free by the way...
  5. Without the topper I sit right about 7350 lbs. I am not sure how much that topper weighs. Its cab hieght the whole way back but its a full fiberglass body. Takes two not-so-weak people to lift. I am about 180 lbs but at about 5' 10".
  6. I have been running Isspro mechanical gauges and love them. Good quality and not to hard on the wallet, never have to worry about a sending unit going bad. Just run a needle valve as a snubber so I can close it quick in the case that I have a leak.
  7. Try to get a fuel pressure gauge on the truck too. If you arent getting good pressure to begin with then we have another problem to fix first.
  8. I cant tell ya how many times my CB has come in handy too. Be it in the hills or on a long road trip, you can bet Ill use it at some point. I always keep a good road map in the truck but about 95% of the time I just use the Google Map app on my smart phone. Its actually pretty accurate. Google updates the map app daily for road construction/Traffic and stuff.
  9. The over the road trucks flow a ton more oil volume through their pumps though. Not to mention the general size of their oil filters and what not. You may not be cold enough to worry about it in Idaho but I noticed a big difference when I switched to the synthetic here. The truck starts and just generally runs easier. Its nice to have almost instant oil pressure vs. waiting 10 minutes just to get up to 40 psi. Like I said before though, Idaho doesnt really get all that cold, even -20 isnt really all that cold IMHO.
  10. For me it would depend on the warranty. New or re-manufactured? I would not mind putting an aftermarket one on my truck but thats just me. The technology of water pumps has to be good enough now that most people should make a good product. Like anything else, ill bet the cummins one and some of the aftermarket ones are just reboxed but made by the same company.
  11. For whatever reason my suppliers only get an amsoil order twice a month. I know I am closer but I am having to work with my suppliers on things like this. I suppose I couldve had it drop shipped but I dont know how I would get billed for it. The whole situation was wacky so I took the easy route. I can get Mobil 1 products over night from my warehouse.
  12. You think something might have froze up? Or just the lift pump is going out? We took a long trip this weekend too but we were lucky enough to not have any problems whatsoever with the truck. I will tell you what, 1200 miles in one day, twice in one long weekend is to much.
  13. I think there was a thread around a while back about the Nissan Titan being offered with a new Cummins V8. I just got word that the new Toyota Tundras will be offered with the same Cummins. http://www.autoloandaily.com/tundra-diesel-2016-toyota-tundra-cummins-turbodiesel--3446 The Ram 1500's will be offered with some Italian diesel, not the Cummins. I think it has something to do with Chrysler's relationship to Fiat. Fiat is who will produce that italian diesel for the new Rams. I have not heard either way if the 2500/3500's will still have a Cummins or not though. Just thought I would post something about it because it is a big change in the diesel world. Just imagine all of the people trying to pull their 40ft toy haulers with their Toyota Tundra.......
  14. HDEO? I ended up getting the Mobil 1 Full synthetic heavy duty turbo charged diesel motor oil. 5w-40. It was the cheapest for me to order in to the store. I can get the amsoil but I dont get much of a discount and it would have taken a week longer.
  15. Summer time always have run 15w-40, Delo. This winter I switched to a 5w-40 full synthetic for the cold start flow. It gets really cold (sometimes down to -45f ambient air temp!!!) up here in Grand Forks, ND, otherwise I would just stick with the 15w-40.
  16. If you were worried at all about the oil staying healthy for that long, you could always switch to synthetic. I thought there was a thread around here somewhere about someone using standard oil and filters and they went like 80k miles on it before changing or something like that.....
  17. The LE is for 2007 model year and newer trucks I believe. It is for trucks that have emissions control such as EGR. The MG is for non emission controlled trucks. You would want the MG for your 24v. Pretty much any CI-4 or CJ-4 motor oil will work for your truck.
  18. Most stores charge about $10 for a battery core anymore. The bigger batteries like the group 31's I will charge a $12 core and the smaller ones like a group 58 I only charge an $8 core.
  19. You can try prying the Ujoints back and and up/down. If you get any kind of movement out of them, replace them. Also, they should turn as one complete unit. If one side of the joint turns at all without the other side going with it, time to replace.
  20. I used group 34's when I replaced mine. It does make a huge difference when you have 2 good batteries, thats for sure.
  21. The 1/2" inline metal filters are a WIX part number of 33248. It is just a disposable inline filter. I actually mounted a filter base and use a BF1212 (Fleetguard FS1212) before my pump. That way it also doubles as an extra water seperator too. I think the filter base is a Fleetguard part number of 142784S and you can mount it almost anywhere.
  22. CF really drives me nuts with some of the people that are on it. There are a handful of people that will actually help and will follow through with the situation until its resolved, but probably at least 90% of the folks on there are not helpful. I do have to admit, I wish some people would start by either searching or maybe just flipping through the threads at first. Tons of threads get started and then only end up with one or two replies. This is just IMHO of course. I have always wanted an older toyota 4 runner with the 22re for a run-around truck. I just think it would be fun and save some gas to do it too. Good luck with getting it finished up. Should be a great little truck when you are done.
  23. Mopartech is right. Just chalk the wheels, Set the park brake, and hold the brakes with all you got, then put her in gear and rev it up. Whatever rpm the engine reaches and you cant get it to rev any higher is the stall speed. This is also a very good test to do to figure out the condition of the tranny. If I ever look at buying an automatic transmission vehicle, I do this test. You can tell real quick if something is slipping in the drivetrain.
  24. Depending on what kind of power you are looking for, I would really recommend the single disk valair that I got. Very nice clutch for the money I think. The pedal is seriously almost as easy as a little 4 banger car clutch pedal. It is a little grabby on take off but as long as you dont need to slip it to much its not bad.
