Canbus is the duration fueling command.   Keep in mind 2000 canbus is more fuel at 2500rpm compared to 1500 tomorrow, because the engine is spinning faster.

It is commons to see canbus fuel command drop at higher revs because the engine is spinning faster thus more combustion strokes per second.

Question about the canbus fuel level (0-4095). Assuming no wiretap, is this number an absolute value of how much fuel is being commanded? Are there any other factors at play that dictate volume of fuel injected besides the canbus fuel message?

For example, if I'm driving at 100 km/h in 3rd gear, overdrive turned off, my commanded canbus fuel level might be 700. Let it shift into overdrive, and canbus fuel might jump to 850. EGT's might increase 150-250 degrees F as well. Logic tells me I'm using more fuel. Downshift and get the RPM's up over 2000 instead of 1650.

Any other factors I'm missing? Does RPM play a roll?

Thank you,

-Kole

It's true the use of direct gear in your case is producing higher MPG's. I see the same thing driving in 4th gear (direct) where the CANBus fuel is lower and EGT's are lower and my it shows as about 2-5 MPG gain. Then shifting to 5th (Overdrive) then the EGT's rise, CANBus Fuel goes up and MPG's are reduced.

Excellent info guys, thanks very much. I wonder if it one could calculate this linearly to compare fuelling in different gears/constant speeds.

Example, 600 fuel units / 2000 rpm = 0.3 BS fuel units per rpm.

800 fuel units / 1600 rpm = 0.5 BS fuel units per rpm.

I know this is BS math but you see how I'm thinking? The higher egt at lower rpm may however tell the story anyway. I could also probably use the factory mpg lie-o-meter to see the difference in instantaneous fuel consumption. Not an accurate number, but the difference would be useful in this situation.

What is the recommended vehicle to pick from in the iQuad app? I saw your export was experimental, there's a generic 2nd gen v.2.5, a 2001-2002 v2.4, and quadzilla only 3.7

Also, where is the apk that has import support? I need a good mpg DD config with my +75 sticks. The default is a little smokey and bucks with very light throttle.

Hey guys slowly getting up to speed. Got the apk and the downloads figured out from the repository. Have a few questions:

-when downloading a new tune should it default to the 1998-2000 V2.5?

-what version should I be using (1999 cummins)?

-I recently put 315x75xR17's on ans I know the diameter is 107.91in but it will not calculate my "accurate" speed any suggestions?

@Me78569I want to try your daily and see the mpgs cause I've taken a large hit Since I'm at sea level with a stock turbo do you recommend 12% increase on can bus fueling?

Thanks gents!

default to whatever profile you like, the 1998-2002 v2.5 should work for all 2nd gen trucks.

Adjust the size up and down until you get an accurate MPH, ensure you have gearing set right and trans set right in the settings.

Adjust up fueling at the 0% mark until you are happy with smoke vs power off the line.  I have not noticed really any change in MPG betwen my daily tune and my emissions tune, which is about %10 difference from each other.  Most of my mpg seems to come as a direct result of timing.  Like truck likes to sit in the 19.5* at 65 mpg and 20.5* at 75.

what fueling mods do you have?  I cant remember.

@Me78569 I just figured out how to update my signature. Hope it works now. Also I was fairly certain I has re gears and the tranny figured out but I'll keep playing with it to see if it changes.

Default tire size is 95.7 and I upped it to 107.91 with no MPH change from what my speedometer says. Went by a speed trap ans it's 10mph off at least.

are you saying your cluster speedo isn't changing or the mph reading on the iquad app isn't changing?

theMPH on the quad isn't changing. I know my speedometeris going to be off due to the much larger tires.

Thank you I will give that tune a shot!

Yes I ran it for about a week now with the tire size being adjusted with no change in MPH on the Quad. @Me78569 I know it's confused because I will be crushing in 5th on the highway but dude to the lower RPM's it says I am in 4th gear.

I will try and remember to take a peek at hte code tomorrow.

I'm not sure what the tire size feature is supposed to accomplish, because I can second that it doesn't change the Quad's reported speed. But now I have my speedo calibrated anyway, much happier now.

@kzimmer I was hoping it would compensate my new tire size so I could have a more accurate speed since I don't have the ability to calibrate my speedo at the moment.

Haha, nah, it didn't work in V1 either. You're off the hook! I asked Quadzilla about this a long time ago, and like all of my other tech support questions, the answer was "?????????".

Happy I found this place! Thanks again for taking care of business!
