Need water pump, where to get one

Recommended Posts

While changiing the oil and adding a relay for the lift pump yesterday, I finally found the small coolant leak I've been trying to find for a while.  The right side of the water pump is leaking slightly at the block so I guess it's time for a new one.  PO must have gotten a cheapo unit because it only has around 20k mile on it.  Anyway my question is, where should I get one and should I get a new or reman.  I haven't had a NAPA close enough but one just openned in the area.  I have been using the zone.  Is NAPA quality what it used to be or are they just like all the other parts stores?  Would value some input on where to get one.  Thaks in advance.

I got one 6 years ago from AA or AZ i believe. Was in a bind and bought the first one I found. Still going strong. When it gives up I would not know who to take to for warranty. Rock auto has 6 different ones from $21 to  to $35.    http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,2002,ram+2500+pickup,5.9l+l6+diesel+turbocharged,1440064,cooling+system,water+pump,2208

I would also recommend sticking with oem,  just changed a water pump on the little Honda Accord and used gates,  was not too impressed with quality when holding it in my hand. OEM looked much better aside from leaking. I remember not long ago Gates was top of the line.

Looks like about a 130 bucks for OEM

Thanks Dieselfuture, I looked at oem on mopar site today and they wanted close to $300 for one.  The price is much better at Genos.

I appreciate all the input.

One question, I just noticed my signature isn't showing up.  Can you guys see it?  Gonna go check to see if it's still there.
